New York Jets starting quarterback Justin Fields will help dictate the direction of the 2025 season. That goes without saying. The Jets inked Fields to a two-year contract worth $40 million earlier this offseason to be their starting quarterback while they rebuild the roster and reset the culture. This represents Fields' final opportunity to establish himself as a legitimate NFL starter. It's his third stop after failed stints in Chicago and Pittsburgh. Fields is talented enough to reach his performance ceiling, but he must operate with a sense of urgency this campaign. Their analysts have Fields hitting the overs, projecting him to record 2,935 passing yards and 738 rushing yards. Let's place those numbers in perspective; 2,935 passing yards would've finished 20th-most among quarterbacks last season. Fields has never reached that figure, however, having thrown for a career-high 2,562 yards in 2023; Fields only appeared in 13 regular-season contests that season, though, and was on pace for 3,350 yards had he completed a 17-game season.
