Former Clemson star big man PJ Hall has been released by the Denver Nuggets
According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, Denver is releasing Hall, who spent this past season on a two-way deal with the Nuggets. His departure opens up a two-way roster spot as the Nuggets prepare for the offseason.
Hall, a 6-foot-10 forward, saw limited action at the NBA level during his rookie campaign, appearing in 19 games and averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds while logging about 3.5 minutes per outing. He connected on 58.3 percent of his shots in that stretch. The 23-year-old also suited up for the Grand Rapids Gold in the G League, where he put up impressive numbers — 19.2 points and 12.5 boards per game, along with 1.8 assists and just over a block per contest.
After going undrafted in 2024, Hall joined Denver's organization and reunited with another former Tiger, Hunter Tyson, who joined the Nuggets by way of a second-round pick and trade in 2023.
At Clemson, Hall left his mark as one of the program's top big men in recent memory. He became just the 14th player in school history to be named first-team All-ACC and wrapped up his final season averaging 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds. His 659 points that year set a new single-season record for the Tigers, and he finished his college career 10th on Clemson's all-time scoring list with 1,702 points.
Hall will now look for a fresh start as he hopes to continue carving out a role at the professional level.

WNBA announces expansion teams in 3 cities by 2030
The WNBA has formally announced plans to expand into three new cities by 2030, which will eventually increase the size of the league to 18 teams. In addition to previously announced expansion clubs coming next year in Portland, Oregon and Toronto, the WNBA revealed June 30 that it will establish new franchises in Cleveland (2028), Detroit (2029) and Philadelphia (2030). Advertisement 'The demand for women's basketball has never been higher, and we are thrilled to welcome Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia to the WNBA family,' WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a statement. 'This historic expansion is a powerful reflection of our league's extraordinary momentum, the depth of talent across the game, and the surging demand for investment in women's professional basketball." The expansion plan now goes to the WNBA and NBA Boards of Governors for final approval. The announcement stages a return of the WNBA to two of the league's former cities. The Cleveland Rockers played in the league from 1997 to 2003. The Detroit Shock won three league championships during their existence from 1998-2009. The Detroit franchise moved to Tulsa in 2010 and is now the Dallas Wings. All three new teams will pay an expansion fee of $250 million to the league. That's a five-fold increase from the $50 million the Golden State Valkyries paid to join the WNBA this season. Cathy Engelbert took over the job as WNBA commissioner in 2019 with a pledge to expand the league to more cities. 3 NBA owners add WNBA franchises The ownership groups for the three new WNBA teams feature some names familiar to sports fans. Advertisement Cleveland: The new WNBA franchise will be owned and operated by Rock Entertainment Group, the parent company run by chairman Dan Gilbert that also includes the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers and G-League Cleveland Charge, as well as the American Hockey League's Cleveland Monsters. Detroit: The controlling owner of the Motor City's new team is Tom Gores, who also owns the NBA's Detroit Pistons. Philadelphia: The new team in Philadelphia will be owned and operated by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, the same company that owns the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and NHL's New Jersey Devils. HBSE is led by co-founder Josh Harris, who's also the controlling owner and managing general partner of the NFL's Washington Commanders. Giannis Just Reacted To The Bucks Cutting Damian Lillard
Giannis Just Reacted To The Bucks Cutting Damian Lillard originally appeared on The Spun. Giannis Antetokounmpo has reacted to the Milwaukee Bucks parting ways with Damian Lillard. Lillard, 34, was waived and stretched by the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, July 1. The Bucks have shockingly parted ways with Lillard, who has two years left on his contract, while signing Pacers big man Myles Turner to a four-year, $107 million deal, plus a player option for year four in 2028-29 and a full 15% trade kicker, according to ESPN. Advertisement The decision to waive and stretch Lillard shocked the NBA world on Tuesday. Lillard has $113 million left on his contract. He's coming off two disappointing seasons in Milwaukee, averaging 24.9 points, 7.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game in 2024-25. While Lillard put up good numbers, the Bucks failed to contend at the top of the Eastern Conference. NBA fans are approving of the Bucks' decision to sign Turner, as he's a great fit next to Giannis. But how does Giannis feel about the decision to part ways with Lillard? Now we know. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - APRIL 24: Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks smiles at fans near the end of Game Four of the Eastern Conference First Round Playoffs against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on April 24, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois. The Bucks defeated the Bulls 119-95. (Photo by)Giannis, who led the Bucks to an NBA championship in 2021, is reportedly not happy with the team's decision to part ways with Damian Lillard. Advertisement NBA insider Chris Haynes, who is close with Lillard from his time in Portland, reports that Giannis is bothered by the Eastern Conference franchise's decision. "Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is not pleased with the team's decision to waive Damian Lillard, league sources tell me," he reported on Tuesday morning. Trade rumors are now likely to swirl for Giannis, who has made it clear that he wants to compete for championships. It sounds like Giannis believes the Bucks' chances of competing for a championship are worse off without Damian Lillard moving forward. Of course, you have to think that the Bucks plan on holding onto Giannis, especially after signing Turner to a big deal. Advertisement But the next couple of weeks could be very interesting in Milwaukee moving forward. Could we see Giannis asking out of Milwaukee before the 2025 NBA offseason is done? It's a growing possibility now. Jalen Williams has wrist surgery; Thunder All-Star expected back for start of season
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Jalen Williams, the All-Star guard/forward who helped the Oklahoma City Thunder win their first NBA title, had surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist. The team said he will be re-evaluated in approximately 12 weeks. Thunder general manager Sam Presti said he expects Williams to be ready for the start of the regular season. Williams averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.6 steals last season and was named to the All-NBA third team and the NBA All-Defensive second team. He was injured during the Thunder's 125-112 win over the Phoenix Suns on April 9 and played in all 23 postseason games while nursing the torn ligament. Williams averaged 23.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in the Finals against the Indiana Pacers, including a playoff career-high 40 points in a 120-109 win in Game 5. 'I really thought it was pretty impressive that he just kept moving along with no excuses and obviously played his best basketball down the stretch of the season,' Presti said.
