Nation's No. 1 LB Sends Texas, Steve Sarkisian Clear Message After Official Visit
There's undoubtedly a lot of pressure falling on the Texas Longhorns heading into the 2025 season, as ESPN BET currently ties them and the Ohio State Buckeyes for the highest odds (+500) to win the national championship.

Despite that, though, head coach Steve Sarkisian has made it very clear that he and the rest of the program are still focused on bringing in talented high school recruits who won't be able to help until further in the future.
One name the Longhorns have been trying to land is class of 2026 linebacker Tyler Atkinson, who, in an article by On3's Steve Wiltfong, revealed what he thought of Texas after his official visit on Friday.
'Man, Texas has made my decision process really hard!' Atkinson said. 'My OV to Texas was eye-opening! This could be my last visit before I make the right choice, and I really feel it was a great decision to visit there... The biggest highlight this weekend was Coach Sark!"

Hearing that kind of praise is certainly good news for Sarkisian, as On3 Industry Rankings place Atkinson as a five-star recruit, the No. 1 linebacker, the No. 1 player in Georgia and the No. 8 player in the nation.

Last season, Atkinson was named a MaxPreps Junior All-American after appearing in 13 games, racking up 166 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, one interception and three pass deflections.
The Longhorns have a good amount of competition, though, as he has also taken official visits with the Clemson Tigers (May 30), the Oregon Ducks (June 6), and the Georgia Bulldogs (June 13).
If Texas can come out on top, though, Atkinson would be a key addition to their 2026 recruiting class, which already has 15 commitments, ranking No. 4 in the SEC and No. 10 in the nation, per On3.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts 'excited' about Atlanta All-Star Game after previously considering 2021 boycott
The MLB All-Star Game was relocated from Atlanta to Denver in 2021 in response to voting laws in the state of Georgia that then-President Joe Biden described as "Jim Crow on steroids." At the time, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who was honored with managing the National League team due to his team playing in the previous year's World Series, said he would have had to consider declining to manage the game if the Midsummer Classic had not been moved. MLB made the change, saying that "the best way to demonstrate" the league's values of "[supporting] voting rights for all Americans and [opposing] restrictions to the ballot box" was to move the game. So, Roberts was in the dugout that summer, but the game was brought back to Atlanta this year, even though the laws remain in place. During a news conference, a reporter asked Roberts about his previous comments made in 2021 about being "relentless with our voices" and why the game is in Atlanta "when this is on the books." "I think it's just being relentless with our voices," the Dodgers' manager said at the time. "This is not just something that's an isolated moment in time that we're talking about. It's something that needs to be talked about [on an] ongoing [basis], and be relentless with it." Pat McAfee emceed the news conference and said he did not feel that anyone on the stage (Roberts, Paul Skenes, Aaron Boone and Tarik Skubal) "should be giving answers on that." "I would assume that there was a reason or some conversation that was had by the MLB and the state that all parties thought that this would be a wonderful host city for the All-Star Game. I think everybody is all very excited to be back in the beautiful city of Atlanta, I think. I don't want to speak out of pocket for anybody, but I do believe," McAfee continued. "I think Pat answered it perfect and honestly," Roberts chimed in. "I appreciate the question. I appreciate your thoughts. I do feel that I'm excited to be here. I think that it's a great city. I think baseball fans are excited to be here and celebrate these great athletes. "I'm not a politician. I do feel that everyone has their right to voice thoughts, but right now I really choose to just focus on the players in the game and be excited to be here. For me, to be able to manage these guys and to manage against these guys, I'm honored." The Election Integrity Act of 2021 placed new restrictions on voting by mail, added voter ID requirements and limited ballot drop boxes. Biden criticized the law as "Jim Crow on steroids." On Monday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp praised MLB for returning the game to Atlanta and creating economic opportunities for businesses in the city. "We're excited about the game finally being here. It should have been here several years ago. They never should have pulled it to start with, but thankfully the game's coming back," Kemp said in an appearance on "Fox & Friends." "It's good for the Braves organization. It's good for all the vendors and small business people in and around the ballpark and in the city of Atlanta up in Cobb County and really for our whole state." Controversial Automated Ball-Strike system is a 'good addition,' but needs development, MLB All-Star says
ATLANTA – Minor league baseball players have had the opportunity to get familiar with the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system. Major league players were introduced to it in spring training, but once the regular season began, home plate ruled on whether a pitch fell within the strike zone. The challenge system, which has sparked some controversy in the baseball world, will make its primetime debut at Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game. The reaction in the days since the MLB confirmed the system would be utilized has been mixed. Those who hold baseball's traditions dear have expressed frustration or even outrage. Cleveland Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan, however, took a more measured approach. "I think it's a cool addition," Kwan told Fox News Digital on Monday in Atlanta, the host city for this year's Midsummer Classic. "I think (we) need some more experience with it. We only got to do it in spring training. It's definitely some spring training when you're in the (batters) box with it, but I think overall it's a good addition." During the All-Star game, the National League team and the American League club will each be allowed two challenges. If a challenge is used and upheld, the team will be able to retain it. A batter, pitcher or catcher can challenge a ball-strikes call. However, if a player does want to issue a challenge, time is of the essence. Any challenge has to be presented immediately after a strike or a ball is called. Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes was among the high-profile players who chimed in on the ABS system. "Pitchers think everything is a strike," the Pirates ace told reporters in Atlanta on Monday. "Then you go back and look at it, and it's two, three balls off. So we should not be the ones that are challenging it. I really do like the human element of the game. I think this is one of those things that you kind of think umpires are great until they're not." Skenes appeared to take a nonchalant position on the matter, saying he "could kind of care less, either way, to be honest." The ABS system is not expected to be involved in regular season games once the All-Star break ends. The MLB has not revealed any potential timetable for using the system in regular or postseason games, but testing it in the All-Star game appears to be a step toward it eventually becoming a part of the game. Ja'Marr Chase achieved the receiving triple crown. Justin Jefferson has rewritten receiving records in his first five seasons. So which superstar pass-catcher is the best wide receiver in the NFL? It's a tie, according to a panel of eight AP Pro Football Writers who ranked the top five players at the position, basing selections on current status entering the 2025 season. First-place votes were worth 10 points. Second- through fifth-place votes were worth 5, 3, 2 and 1 points. Chase and Jefferson each received four first-place votes and four seconds. Amon-Ra St. Brown finished third, CeeDee Lamb was fourth and AJ Brown placed fifth. Tyreek Hill, Garrett Wilson, Terry McLaurin and Mike Evans also received votes. 1 (tie). He received two third-place votes and four fourths. 5. A.J. BROWN, Philadelphia Eagles Brown has become one of the league's elite playmakers since joining Philadelphia in 2022. He had 67 catches for 1,079 yards and seven TDs in 13 games last season and played a big role in the offense for the Super Bowl champions.
