Strategic agreements will boost port, public transport infrastructure

comprehensive strategy to develop a globally connected logistics network, expand its footprint across international markets, empower local private-sector players, and unlock
opportunities for Omani talent. The presentation also shed light on the Group's 2024 milestones: a pivotal year marked by its first international acquisition.
Asyad Ports and Freezones signed an agreement with O Bunkring Company to deliver bunker fuel services at Sultan Qaboos Port, enhancing Oman's maritime readiness and attracting new commercial activities.
SOHAR Port and Freezone signed three major agreements to support the development of its LNG terminal. The port partnered with WSP Middle East – Oman for engineering consultancy and project management services, Boskalis for dredging 3.8 million cubic meters of marine material, and Six Construct for constructing the LNG jetty and coastal protection infrastructure.
SOHAR Port and Freezone also received national recognition at the Ministry's Logistics Best Practices Awards. The 'Marasi' Port Management System won first place in the
Continuous Improvement and Innovation category after achieving 90% digitalization in maritime operations and reducing paperwork by 85% through smart operating tools. The
port also secured second place in the Net Zero category for pioneering the use of biodiesel produced from recycled cooking oil, in marine tugboats, a first for any port in
the Middle East.
Mwasalat signed two strategic agreements. These included a first-and-last-mile service development initiative connecting micro-mobility to public transport in select higher education institutions, in Muscat and Salalah, in partnership with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences; and an agreement to develop an integrated public transport station in North Al Batinah in coordination with the Office of the Governor of North Al Batinah.

Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched the second phase of industrial integration initiatives on Saturday in Riyadh, as part of the Economic, Trade, and Industry Committee under the Omani-Saudi Coordination Council. This new phase features a set of strategic initiatives aimed at deepening industrial cooperation between the two nations. Key among them is the inclusion of Omani products in Saudi Arabia's list of approved industrial capabilities and the application of national origin rules to ensure equal treatment for Omani and Saudi companies in government tenders and procurement. The initiatives also seek to streamline the registration of industrial products with relevant regulatory authorities in both countries and introduce a fast-track mechanism for product conformity processes. In addition, the two sides will exchange investment opportunities in key industrial sectors and work to strengthen integration across supply chains tied to free trade agreements and regional markets, particularly in Africa. The meeting also reviewed the achievements of the first phase of cooperation, which included the linkage of industrial zones, joint projects in strategic industries, data exchange, the formation of technical working groups to align industrial legislation, and coordinated participation in international exhibitions and conferences. H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, highlighted that the launch of the second phase and the signing of bilateral agreements reflect the shared commitment of Oman and Saudi Arabia to advancing industrial cooperation. He stressed that the initiatives align with the visions of the leaderships in both countries, aiming to build strategic partnerships rooted in integration and reciprocity. These efforts are expected to boost local value-added production, widen the industrial base, stimulate trade and investment, and foster a competitive business environment that supports private sector growth. The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Yousef and H E Bandar bin Ibrahim al Khorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources. The event was attended by H E Najib bin Hilal al Busaidi, Oman's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Digital Cooperation Organization, alongside other officials from both countries. The ceremony featured a visual presentation outlining current joint industrial initiatives and expansion plans across priority sectors. Future initiatives focused on bolstering industrial cooperation, scaling up investments, and supporting supply and manufacturing chains were also discussed. During the visit, H E Yousef met with HRH Prince Sultan bin Khalid al Saud, CEO of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund. The meeting explored avenues for financing joint industrial projects, exchanging expertise, and supporting the development of industrial zones and related infrastructure. The launch marks a significant step in advancing industrial integration between Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Oman's Espace signs collaboration agreement with UK firm
London, UK – Espace Engineering Consultants (EEC) held a formal signing ceremony with UK-based firm Formation Architects on July 3 at the British Omani Society (BOS), as part of the Trade and Business Event in London, UK. This event marked a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the two firms, aimed at contributing to the evolution of Oman's urban and architectural landscape. The collaboration brought together EEC's deep local insight and Formation's international design expertise, creating a platform for future projects that prioritise contextual relevance, design excellence, and sustainable development. 'This partnership is about aligning local ambition with international standards to deliver projects that are both visionary and grounded in Omani values,' said Mohamed al Khonji, Managing Director of Espace Engineering Consultants. Formation Architects was represented at the ceremony by Director and Trustee Tim Quick and Senior Architect Shantanu Bhatt, who emphasised their commitment to meaningful collaboration and long-term engagement in Oman. The ceremony builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year and follows a series of discussions with key stakeholders in Oman. Espace Engineering Consultants (EEC) is an Omani consultancy firm providing architectural and engineering solutions across government, commercial and infrastructure sectors. The firm was founded by Soumitra Chatterjee, a distinguished architect with over 30 years of experience in Oman. Chatterjee's leadership and vision continue to guide the company through his role as an Advisory Director. EEC acknowledges with deep appreciation his longstanding commitment.

'Rummana' Festival returns to Al Jabal Al Akhdhar
AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: The third edition of the 'Rummana' event kicked off on Friday at the 'Jana'in' farm in Saih Qatna, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Running until September 27, the festival offers a rich blend of interactive family activities amidst Omani nature, celebrating sustainable agricultural tourism and empowering rural communities. Held in partnership between 'Tibi' Company and the Agricultural Tourism Development Company 'Jana'in', the event highlights the Green Mountain's agricultural and tourism heritage. Visitors can enjoy direct harvesting of seasonal fruits like pomegranates, figs and pears, alongside weekly educational workshops, acrobatic shows, family competitions and a vibrant Farmers' Market showcasing fresh local produce. The festival also features children's entertainment and diverse dining options, blending traditional charm with lively family fun. In previous seasons, 'Rummana' has made a significant impact. Last year, it attracted over 51,000 visitors and featured participation from 44 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). More than 10,000 kilogrammes of crops from Al Jabal Al Akhdhar were sold, underscoring the event's vital role in supporting local communities and strengthening agricultural supply chains. — ONA
