UP procures over 10.2L MT wheat this Rabi season

Lucknow: UP has procured over 10.27 lakh metric tonnes of wheat – surpassing last year's 9.31 LMT, in the ongoing Rabi marketing season. The rise in figures is largely attributed to the govt's decision to extend procurement through mobile centres that reached deep into villages. According to a state govt spokesperson, wheat procurement for the Rabi marketing season (2025–26) began on March 17 and concluded on June 15. The process was carried out through 5,853 procurement centres across the state. More than two lakh farmers sold over 10.27 lakh metric tonnes of wheat to govt agencies. A total payment of Rs 2,508.26 crore has been disbursed directly to the farmers, the spokesperson added. As per the CM's directive, procurement centres remained open daily from 8 am. to 8 pm. even during holidays. At the same time, senior officials of the food and civil supplies department actively visited villages and maintained communication with farmers. The Centre had fixed the Minimum Support PriceMSP for wheat at Rs 2,425 per quintal for the Rabi marketing year 2025–26, up from Rs 2,275 in the previous season. Payments to farmers were processed within 48 hours via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Strategic agreements will boost port, public transport infrastructure

Asyad Group reaffirmed its pivotal role in shaping the Sultanate of Oman's logistics future by participating in the Logistics Day 2025 organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology. During the event, Asyad presented a paper titled 'Asyad's Role in Empowering Oman's Logistics Sector: Growth, Resilience, and Opportunities,' highlighting the pillars of its comprehensive strategy to develop a globally connected logistics network, expand its footprint across international markets, empower local private-sector players, and unlock opportunities for Omani talent. The presentation also shed light on the Group's 2024 milestones: a pivotal year marked by its first international acquisition. Foulath Holding Group, the investment company dedicated to the sustainable development and growth of the regional steel industry, has secured the ISO 22301:2019 certification, an internationally recognised standard for excellence in business continuity management. The certification follows a rigorous audit conducted by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), the global leader in assessment, classification, and international accreditation services. This achievement underscores Foulath's commitment to strengthening business resilience and ensuring a swift and efficient response to risks, challenges, and unforeseen disruptions, thereby safeguarding operational continuity and service sustainability. The certification was secured within just two years of implementing the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and adhering to international best practices—an impressive milestone that adds to Foulath's distinguished record of achievements. ISO 22301:2019 is a globally recognised standard that provides organisations with a strategic framework to assess potential risks, implement measures to mitigate their impact, and ensure the continuity of critical operations and services during unexpected events. The certification, accredited under UKAS , was granted following an independent and thorough evaluation by DNV as a third-party certification body, covering multiple operational aspects, including process readiness, capabilities, and technological infrastructure. Commenting on this milestone, Dilip George, Group Chief Executive Officer of Foulath Holding Group, stated: ' Dilip George, Group Chief Executive Officer of Foulath Holding Group, commented: 'We are extremely proud to have achieved the ISO 22301:2019 certification, which reflects our commitment to ensuring the continuity of our operations in the face of unforeseen disruptions. By integrating global best practices through our Business Continuity Management System, we reinforce Foulath's commitment to long-term sustainability and operational resilience, solidifying our position as a reliable and trusted supplier of iron and steel products regionally.' This accomplishment marks the first time that Foulath has received ISO certification at the group level. Previously, both Bahrain Steel and SULB obtained various ISO certifications individually, and plans are underway for SULB Bahrain and SULB Saudi Arabia to secure ISO 22301:2019 accreditation by the end of the year.
