Express Tribune20 hours ago
Actress Sydney Sweeney was among the many celebrities spotted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's extravagant $50 million wedding in Venice, Italy.
While some questioned her connection to the billionaire couple, sources tell Page Six her presence was tied to business, not personal ties.
Sweeney, best known for roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, and Anyone But You, is set to star in and executive produce the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Split Fiction. The movie is a video game adaptation directed by Jon M. Chu (Wicked) and penned by the writers of Deadpool & Wolverine. With Bezos' company backing the film, insiders say Sweeney attended the wedding as a gesture of respect to the studio head.
'She is not friends with either one of them,' a source told Page Six, 'but came to pay respects to the 'boss,' just like in the old days of Hollywood.'
During the weekend festivities, Sweeney was seen walking through Venice with actor Orlando Bloom and reportedly danced with Tom Brady during the reception. Her attendance added to the star-studded guest list, which included Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, and Jerry Seinfeld.
Sweeney previously worked with Amazon on the 2021 Prime Video film The Voyeurs and continues to build her presence in both acting and production. Split Fiction, which follows two authors trapped in their fictional worlds, is currently in development and seeking a co-star for Sweeney.

Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy to lead Amazon MGM's ‘You Deserve Each Other' rom-com adaptation

Amazon MGM Studios is bringing a fresh romantic comedy to the screen with Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy starring in You Deserve Each Other, an adaptation of Sarah Hogle's bestselling novel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project will be directed by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, the creative minds behind Never Been Kissed and He's Just Not That Into You, who also revised the original screenplay. The story follows Naomi and Nick, a couple who appear to be on the verge of a perfect wedding. However, they have secretly fallen out of love and each begins plotting ways to get the other to call it off. As their comedic sabotage unfolds, the narrative evolves from lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers, reigniting their feelings just in time. The book, released in 2020 by Penguin's G.P. Putnam's Sons, received multiple accolades, including nominations for Goodreads Choice Awards and recognition as an Amazon Editors' Pick. The film is being produced by Fifth Season and Likely Story. Badgley, best known for his roles in Gossip Girl and You, brings his signature edge to the rom-com genre. Fahy, who earned acclaim in The White Lotus, adds momentum with her growing list of high-profile projects. Production details and a release date for You Deserve Each Other will be announced by Amazon MGM in due course.

Ryan Gosling heads to space in first ‘Project Hail Mary' trailer

Ryan Gosling is suiting up for his most ambitious role yet in Project Hail Mary, a sci-fi adventure from Oscar-winning duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The first trailer for the Amazon MGM Studios film has just dropped, revealing Gosling as a mild-mannered teacher unexpectedly tasked with saving humanity from extinction. Adapted from Andy Weir's bestselling novel, the author behind The Martian, the film follows Gosling's character as he wakes up alone on a spaceship, with no memory of how he got there. As his memories return, he realises he's Earth's last hope. Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall) co-stars as the brilliant mind who sends him on the interstellar mission. Speaking at CinemaCon, Gosling described the film as 'insanely ambitious' adding, 'This is why we go to the movies. And I'm not just saying it because I'm in it. I'm also saying it because I'm a producer.' The screenplay comes from Drew Goddard, who previously adapted The Martian, another Weir bestseller, into a critically acclaimed hit. Project Hail Mary reunites Gosling with space after First Man, where he portrayed astronaut Neil Armstrong. This time, the tone shifts toward dark comedy and wonder, with the trailer teasing both high-stakes drama and cosmic oddities. Lord and Miller, known for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Lego Movie, bring their signature mix of heart and humor to the adaptation. With a compelling premise and powerhouse creative team, Project Hail Mary is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about releases of 2025.
