Filipino mechanical engineers to unite for 2nd PSIM international conference in Saudi Arabia

Filipino mechanical engineers from around the world are set to gather for the prestigious 2nd Pambansang Samahan ng Inhenyero Mekanikal (PSIM) International Mechanical Engineers Conference (PIMEC), taking place in Saudi Arabia.
Scheduled for June 8 to 9, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Riyadh, the two-day conference will carry the theme: 'Leadership with Integrity & Stability Through Motivation and Mentoring for the Progression of Global Mechanical Engineers.' The event promises a robust lineup of keynote addresses, technical sessions, and product exhibits designed to enhance professional development and global industry knowledge.
Among the distinguished guests is His Excellency Ambassador Raymond R. Balatbat, who will deliver a keynote speech to formally honor the achievements and contributions of Filipino engineers abroad.
Joining him are notable officials, including Hon. Atty. Melisa Jane Comafay Yeachana, Director IV of the Professional Regulation Commission's International Affairs Office, and Labor Attaché II Hon. Dominador A. Salanga of the Migrant Workers Office in Riyadh.
Adding further inspiration to the gathering is Dr. Karen Remo, CEO and Founder of New Perspective Media Group and Publisher of The Filipino Times. As Guest of Honor and Inspirational Speaker, Dr. Remo will share insights on leadership and the impact of Filipino excellence on the global stage.
The conference will also feature prominent figures in the engineering community, including PSIM National President Roberto E. Sollano, 2nd PIMEC Chair and KSA Chapter President Renato S. Controlling inflation remains the top issue Filipinos want President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to prioritize in his 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA), according to the latest Pulse Asia survey released Friday, July 11. The survey revealed that 32.9% of Filipino adults consider inflation as the most pressing issue the President should address when he delivers his SONA on July 28. Other major concerns include: Wage increases (13.6%) Peace and order (13.2%) Jobs and livelihood (9.8%) Poverty and hunger reduction (7.4%) Smaller percentages also cited support for farmers (4.1%), continued financial aid (2.8%), anti-corruption efforts (2.4%), the return of former president Rodrigo Duterte (2.3%), maritime rights protection in the West Philippine Sea (1.6%), education (1.3%), and justice (1.1%). The survey also found that 78% of respondents are aware of Marcos' past SONAs, up from 69% in June 2024. Awareness is higher in Metro Manila and among Class ABC respondents, and slightly lower in the Visayas, Mindanao, and lower-income groups. Pulse Asia conducted the survey face-to-face among 1,200 respondents from June 26 to 30. It has a ±2.8% margin of error nationally.

This special arrangement, from 9 AM to 2 PM, will allow Filipinos in Kuwait to access several government services during their day off. The Embassy will accommodate Consular, MWO (Migrant Workers Office), OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration), SSS (Social Security System), and PAG-IBIG services during this time. The Embassy is usually closed on Fridays and Saturdays, in line with Kuwait's official weekend, which follows the Friday-Saturday workweek.
