BBC star reveals shock plans to axe popular podcast

MARTIN Compston and pal Gordon Smart are pulling the plug on their popular podcast from this week - after three years and 300 shows.
The pair insist they are unable to fulfil their recording schedule now due to work commitments.

Martin, 41, is currently in Dublin filming the Paramount+ series The Revenge Club, while Gordon, 45, splits his time between hosting BBC shows in London and Manchester.
Last night Gordon said: 'Restless Natives is going on a hiatus.
'The diaries have finally imploded trying to get us together with his filming and my radio and telly stuff.
'So Wednesday and Friday this week will be the last podcasts.'
Their podcast was named after Gordon's favourite 1980s Scots flick that featured actors Vincent Friell and Joe Mullaney as highway robbers the Clown and the Wolfman.
Over the three years Martin from Greenock has admitted missing out on a role in BBC hit Peaky Blinders because he 'couldn't do a Brummie accent.'
While Scots Hollywood star James McAvoy told the pair he had 'smashed' his knee filming a group sex scene for a movie.
And presenter Paddy McGuinness claimed on their podcast how he saw Prince Harry rip down a picture of the late Queen during a 'wild party' night in Chelsea.
Last summer Martin and Gordon also filmed a version of their Restless Natives show for BBC Scotland's coverage from the Euro Finals in Germany.
The dad of two adds: 'We've done 300 shows in three years exactly.
'Plus two live shows, ten telly shows in Germany - so now it's time for bed.'

Written and directed by Rohit Karn Batra, its story follows two police officers who are called to a domestic violence dispute on the titular Second Street in Philadelphia. The call-out goes awry when one officer accidentally shoots and kills the other. The film is described as an allegory about the gun crisis in America. At present, Nicola is listed on IMDB, although her character has not been named. Nicola rose to fame during the Olympics in 2012, becoming the first female boxer to win Olympic Gold for Britain. She went on to successfully defend her title at Rio 2016, before winning the title of WBO (World Boxing Organisation) flyweight in 2019. The athlete was forced into an early retirement that same year due to a serious eye injury, having only fought six times as a pro. She returned to the spotlight the very next year as a Strictly hopeful and has since expressed how much she'd love to return as a contestant due to 'unfinished business' after her premature departure. Of her decision to retire, Nicola said in 2019: 'I'm immensely honoured to have represented our country—to win double Olympic gold medals and then the WBO championship belt is a dream come true. 'But it's not without taking its toll on my body, and aside from the expected aches and pains, I've been advised that any further impact to my eye would most likely lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss. Major update in MasterChef saga as embattled BBC forge ahead with new series
SCANDAL-hit MasterChef is casting for contestants for a new series. The BBC show put out an internet plea days after confirming it would air episodes already filmed with Gregg Wallace and John Torode, despite both being axed. Bosses said the decision came 'after consultation with the contestants'. Earlier this month, a report revealed more than 40 historic complaints against Wallace had been upheld, along with a claim that Torode once used a racist term. The BBC said it had taken the decision 'after consultation with the contestants' but some of the women who came forward with claims against Wallace have slammed the move. Saturday Kitchen 's Matt Tebbutt is expected to be the new host, with Great British Menu star Andi Oliver also in the frame. Euro 2025: Amanda Holden and Alan Carr lead boozy celebrations after England's penalty delight
Celebrities were quick to take to social media after the full time whistle in the Euro 2025 final in Switzerland after England's Lionesses took on their Spanish counterparts England's Lionesses have made history after a dramatic win in the Euro 2025 final. It took a nervy penalty shootout for the cup to come home once again, with Chloe Kelly once again proving the winner in Basel. Sarina Wiegman's team went into Sunday's Euro 2025 final with the support of the nation behind them. And as they tried to make it back to back Euro wins, they were victorious and became back-to-back European champions. The nation's women's football team took on Spain as the prestigious competition came to a close. And to a country's delight, the Lionesses didn't disappoint as England's name was once again engraved on the trophy. And shortly after the final whistle, celebrities joined fans in sending delighted messages to the history-making side. Among them were Alan Carr and Amanda Holden who went wild with celebrations. The duo were seen on Amanda's Story singing It's Coming Home with drinks in their hands. Former England footballer Rio Ferdinand also gushed: "They've done it again.. Back To Back! Massive @Lionesses #WEURO2025" Romeo Beckham shared his delight on Instagram Stories, uploading the final spot kick by Kelly. He shared red and white love heart emojis over the top. Lauryn Goodman also took to her Instagram Stories to say: "Congrats @lionesses smashed it," as she added Beyonce's Run the World tune over the top of England's full time post. The game was watched on by a full house at St Jakob-Park, including Prince William and Princess Charlotte. The King and Queen also wished the team their "warmest congratulations" after the semi-final earlier this week, before the official Royal Family Twitter /X account shared a rousing message pre-final. With the nation behind them, England had gone into the game full of confidence. They had lifted the coveted cup three years earlier. Despite a poor first half, which saw them go in behind at the break, England managed to level just before the hour mark to keep their dreams alive as they game went to extra time and penalties. The group once again helped bring a nation together. It had even led to calls for a Bank Holiday on Monday if the result had gone the right way. Downing Street said before the match it was "not aware of any plans" for an extra bank holiday. The PM's official spokesman said he didn't want to jinx it before the team had reached the final.
