Faced with probation revocation, Pat Mahomes Sr. admits John Rocker squabble was staged
The problem for the elder Mahomes is that he's currently on probation after a third DWI. The fight arguably violated the terms of his limited freedom.
Unless it wasn't an actual fight.
Via TMZ.com, Mahomes Sr. told a court last week that the fight was a staged promotion for an April boxing match with Rocker at Barstool's Rough N' Rowdy. The contract, Mahomes Sr. showed the court, was signed on January 17.
While it kept Mahomes Sr. out of jail, it exposes the whole thing as a ruse aimed at hyping the fight.
Mahomes Sr. is due to make at least $85,000 for the fight. He could get more depending on the pay-per-view numbers.
And the phony fight on Bourbon Street was part of the effort to bump the numbers. If the fake altercation didn't present Mahomes with the prospect of real incarceration, the official word would still be that the falsified confrontation was legitimate and genuine.

Fans React to Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Being Left Off Madden 99 Club List
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Every year, the ever-popular "Madden NFL" video game releases real-time rankings of current players in the league. The 2026 version is no different, and the list of all the players who have the "perfect" 99 Club rating has been released. Despite the list containing some high-level players, one person has been left off the list. Current arguably top quarterback Patrick Mahomes is nowhere to be seen on the list. The Kansas City Chiefs signal caller remains the signal caller to beat in the AFC, yet both Jackson and Allen have made the list. What a joke. — Lucas (@LucasBallKnower) July 28, 2025 Where's Patrick mahomes — Mark slader 2.0 (@MarkSlader2) July 28, 2025 The rankings for the "Madden NFL 26" can be considered highly subjective, but Mahomes seems to always find a way not to be included on these types of lists. Recently, the top 100 NFL Players list came out, and Mahomes did not make the top five on that list. Mahomes chose to not only state that he does not care about the list, but also take a shot at the list itself. Again, that list can be considered subjective, even though the players in the league voted for the top players. Mahomes remains one of the best, if not the best, quarterbacks in the league simply due to his ability to turn nothing into something. The Chiefs were down most of their playmakers in 2024, including running back Isiah Pacheco, wide receivers Hollywood Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster, and more. Despite the lack of offensive weapons for Mahomes to dish the ball out to, he managed to lead the team back to the Super Bowl. The massive injuries still had an impact, and the Philadelphia Eagles were able to trounce the Chiefs. The fact remains that Mahomes continues to showcase why he should be considered the top quarterback in the league. He ended the season with 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, which could be a big reason he did not make the 99 Club. Still, there are other variables to consider, especially considering he remains one of the most clutch quarterbacks in the league. For more on the Chiefs and NFL, head to Newsweek Sports.

Travis Kelce debuts dramatic haircut at Chiefs training camp: ‘We got the dog back'
It was time for a change for Travis Kelce. The four-time First-Team All-Pro tight end is back to a buzzcut after sporting some 'luscious locks,' as the Chiefs showed in a photo posted from training camp on Sunday. Advertisement 4 kelce sported some long hair last season and this summer before going back to the buzz. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Kelce is entering his 13th season in the NFL and is coming off a pair of substandard seasons, but a buzzcut was his style when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2024, so perhaps he's got things all thought through. The 35-year-old has, of course, been an even more major name in any headline over the past two years with his relationship with Taylor Swift — which brought a wealth of 'Swifties' commenting their devastation on Instagram surrounding his dramatic haircut that he debuted at Kansas City's training camp session on Sunday. The Chiefs-first, Swift-second fans seem to be excited at the prospect of Kelce getting back to his roots. 'That haircut last season was the one to blame,' a comment read. 'We got the dog back.' Advertisement Kelce is coming off perhaps his worst season of his career aside from his rookie campaign when he appeared in just one game. 4 Kelce rocked the buzz cut when the Chiefs last won the Super Bowl in 2024. Getty Images He posted just 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns, both career-lows outside of his inaugural season in the league. Kelce still racked up 97 receptions, but he averaged just 8.5 yards per catch — two yards lower than his next lowest season which came in the year prior and was also lower than any of his other seasons. Advertisement Before the past two seasons, Kelce was on an incredible run in which he made an All Pro team in seven straight seasons. While he's slowed down, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid likes what he sees ahead of 2025-26. 4 Kelce at Chiefs training camp Sunday. AP 'He's svelte right now. He looks like he's 20,' Reid said on Thursday. 'He's doing a good job, he's in great shape … You can see he's been working out … He's worked hard to get to this spot here.' While he spent a lot of time this offseason with his superstar-musician girlfriend, Kelce has clearly been putting in some work, too.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy comments on punt returner rumors
At Sunday's training camp press conference, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy expressed willingness to take on the punt returner role in the 2025 season. "Punt return. I mean, I'll do anything the team needs me to do, whatever they need me to do," said Worthy, "However, (they) need me to do it." The conversations about Worthy featuring on special teams gained traction during minicamp from Dave Toub. The Chiefs' coordinator appreciates Worthy's speed and was held back from utilizing him due to Rashee Rice's injury. "I say he's the best punt returner nobody knows about right now in the league," said Toub last month to reporters, "and that's Worthy, so hopefully we get him back there too." Last season, Worthy tallied nine touchdowns, six receiving and three rushing. He finished 10th among all rookies in yards from scrimmage with 742. Worthy led the Chiefs in the Super Bowl LIX loss, catching eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns, setting rookie records.
