Love Island producers 'forced to buy more condoms' as unaired scenes turned 'messy'
Last night, millions watched on as Toni and Cach took home the crown in what has been named as the raunchiest Love Island series yet.
The 12th series of the iconic ITV2 reality show had more arguments than we can count, but there was reportedly a lot more going on behind closed doors as producers
OG fans who watched the show back from 2015 will remember ITV showing some NSF work scenes, most memorably the explicit 'over the covers' scene with Terry and Emma in season 2. Now, things are much more reserved, but it doesn't mean things don't happen off camera. It comes after Maya Jama shared her true feelings over Harry and Shakira's reunion.
Spilling all the tea to Christine Lampard on Tuesday morning's Lorraine the day after the final, Aftersun panellist Joe Baggs revealed this had been the 'raunchiest' season in history - with producers having to make one huge change to cater to the contestants.
Speaking to Christine asked whether it was true that it had been the raunchiest series to date.
Letting ITV viewers in on some behind the scenes raunchy secrets, Joe said: "Yes. There's been a lot going on in that bedroom. I actually went in to the bedroom.
"They had a night where the camera was off and it was quite a mess," he laughed. "Apparently they had to bring in extra condoms, extra protection for this series of Love Island and they used them all up.
"I actually saw quite a few packets on the floor, so..." he said as Christine expressed her shock.
This series, fans were left shocked during one particular scene between Harrison, Lauren, Harry and Helena. As the Islanders got cosy in bed, Harrison and Lauren decided it wasn't time for lights out just yet - as he reached over to ask Harry and Helena if he could borrow a condom.
Harrison could be seen reaching over to Helena and Harry's bed via the night cam, as he asked: "Do you have a condom?"
Harry and Helena could be seen in hysterics as Helena quickly pulled one out the drawer, with Harry passing it over. The couple then got under the covers, as the cameras panned to them kissing - but not much more was shown.
And just days before the final, fans were left "horrified" during some very raunchy bedroom scenes between Meg and Dejon.
After kissing and making up following their huge spat after date night, Meg and Dejon were filmed getting hot and steamy under the blankets, but viewers were less than impressed as they called the scenes 'disgusting'.

Gary Lineker has reportedly signed a huge deal with ITV to host a brand new celebrity game show - after leaving the BBC earlier this year following an anti-semitism row. The former Match Of The Day presenter, 64, is thought to be returning to Saturday night TV for a new show called The Box. Touted as a replacement for Ant and Dec 's Saturday Night Takeaway, The Box's format sees 12 celebrities all put in a different box where they have to face a terrifying challenge. Already a show in Norway, The Sun reports it has been dubbed as a cross between I'm A Celebrity and SAS: Who Dares Wins. A source told the publication: 'The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK. ' ITV are really excited about it - and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway. 'They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him. They're confident they've found that now, and the BBC 's loss is their gain.' The source added that filming will take place in the autumn and it will air in early spring, likely with a Saturday night slot. Gary and ITV have been contacted by MailOnline for comment. Back in May Gary welled up as he delivered his final Match of the Day speech, thanking viewers for their 'love and support' and sending a message to his successors. The presenter was visibly moved by a seven-minute tribute featuring the likes of Pep Guardiola, Virgil van Dijk, Ian Wright, and even Andrea Bocelli. Lineker hosted his final BBC show and hinted at the start that it 'wasn't meant to end this way' after being axed amid an antisemitism row. He was axed after sharing a pro-Palestine Instagram video which featured an emoji of a rat, with critics accusing him of promoting a familiar anti-Semitic slur. He later apologised. At the end of his last show, wrapping up his £1.4million gig, he paid tribute to the wider team, saying: 'Let me take the opportunity to thank all the other pundits I've had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years. Stephen Mangan admits: ‘I can be just as ruthless as everybody else'
It's not easy to be ruthless and to throw other people under the bus. At least, that's what one might assume… until there's a £250,000 prize up for grabs. That's the aim of the game in ITV's The Fortune Hotel, which is back for its second series tonight, as 11 pairs – a mixture of friends, colleagues, relatives and partners – battle it out in a game of treachery while basking in the Caribbean sunshine. 'It's a really difficult game, because they really get to know and like each other over the course of the time we're there,' host Stephen Mangan tells Metro. 'It's really difficult to brutally pull the plug on another pair and send them home, but you have to do it.' Stephen, an actor, presenter and comedian, imagined how he'd fare if he took part in the competition – and he had a frank admission to make. I probably wouldn't. I'd probably be just as ruthless as everybody else,' he admits. 'I don't know. I mean, it's hard to know. I think the great thing is, until you're in that situation… there's some twists this year that put people under enormous pressure. It's amazing to watch. I wouldn't want to be in that position myself.' In real life, Stephen is widely regarded as a TV nice guy, years after playing the arrogant Guy Secretan in Green Wing and going toe to toe with Steve Coogan in I'm Alan Partridge. For several years, I've enjoyed watching him host one of my favourite shows, the ever-wholesome Portrait Artist of the Year. He has a positive outlook on the world, explaining that he 'fundamentally' believes that 'most people are trustworthy'. Nonetheless, a show like The Fortune Hotel proves that sometimes, you need to listen to your gut when it's telling you to take a closer look. 'I think why the show is so interesting is because we all spend our lives trying to work out if people are being straight with us, if people are trying to pull the wool over our eyes, if they're trying to pull a fast one,' Stephen says. 'That's one of the challenges of being an adult these days – trying to work out who's on your side, who wishes you well, and who is trying to get one over on you. 'So it's fascinating. We all hope that we can tell if people are lying to us, but some people are really, really good at it.' The launch of The Fortune Hotel series two comes after the series made its debut on ITV last year, with mother-and-son duo Jo-Anne and Will taking home the £210,000 cash prize. This time around, the contestants had the benefit of being able to watch the previous season to try and suss out the game. But, they might not be as prepared as they think. This year, there are 11 pairs of competitors at the start of The Fortune Hotel. Those who make it into the luxurious hotel in the Caribbean are each given a briefcase – one of which contains the coveted £250,000 cash prize. Another briefcase contains an 'early checkout card', which could result in a pair being sent home. All of the others contain blank sheets of paper. At the end of each day, the contestants come together in the hotel bar and have the chance to swap their cases. Their decisions are crucial, as they could cause another pair to suspect that they have the winning or losing case. Whoever ends up with the 'early checkout card' by the end of the night is sent home. They also take part in challenges to try and figure out who has which case as the show progresses. It's a game of logic combined with luck. 'It was exciting the first time around because it was a show that had never been done before. Sometimes these shows are formats that they've tried in other countries and have been a hit, so they know how they work. But we were inventing a brand new game, which is exciting and terrifying at the same time,' the host recalls. 'The first series was exciting to see if it worked. And it did. It worked really well, so much so that we got our second series. Then the interesting thing is, how do you make it better?' So how do you make it better? 'More surprises, more challenges, more epic things happening,' Stephen promises. He adds that some of the competitors coming to the series with a plan based on the previous season 'made it more exciting', as they were more willing to take risks. 'They just went for it. It made those evenings in Lady Luck's Bar so tense, so dramatic, so exciting.' More Trending At this point, it's unknown whether The Fortune Hotel will come back for a third series. But Stephen hopes that by the time audiences finish the second, they'll feel 'bereft' – so much more that they'll demand its return. 'Every episode gets more exciting. Every episode, it's harder to predict what's going to happen,' he states. 'There are surprises from the beginning, first minute till the last.
