Selangor police: Expect traffic disruptions near KLIA and RMAF Subang on May 25 and 26 for Asean Summit
In a statement, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said this will allow officers to monitor and manage traffic during specific dates and times as delegates move between the airports and their base during the summit.
He added that the measures are designed to keep traffic flowing smoothly and minimise disruptions during the busy summit period.
Delegation transfers from KLIA
When: May 25 (Noon to 11pm) and May 26 (Noon to 1pm)
Route: Starting from Bunga Raya Complex, via KLIA Highway Extension, KLIA Toll Plaza, Elite Highway, then onto Putrajaya, MEX Highway, and R&R Seri Kembangan
Delegation transfers from RMAF Subang air base
When: May 25 (11am to 2pm)
Route: From RMAF Subang via Monfort Road, Guthrie Corridor Expressway, Shah Alam Toll Plaza, NKVE Highway, Exit KM 22 NKVE onto North-South Highway, and the Selangor-Kuala Lumpur border (KM25.1)
Motorists are advised to expect some delays and cooperate with traffic police during these times.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has rebranded its Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) as the KITS Style SuperApp in an effort to establish a more efficient, safe, sustainable and competitive transport system that helps improve the people's quality of life. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the rebranding was more than just a ticketing platform, as the KITS Style SuperApp also served as a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) application that integrated daily mobility and lifestyle within a modern, interactive and fully digital ecosystem. 'KITS Style offers a variety of services, such as purchasing ETS, KTM Komuter and Shuttle Tebrau tickets, booking flights and hotels, paying utility bills, renewing vehicle insurance, transferring money, shopping online and planning trips via the KITS AI Journey Planner,' he said in his speech at the launch of the KITS Style application here last night. KITS is an online ticketing system introduced on August 17, 2020. Loke said the KITS Style application was developed through a strategic collaboration between KTMB and ManagePay Systems Berhad (MPay) as a dynamic digital platform. 'This application was developed through a smart partnership, without KTMB incurring any costs or requiring government allocations. 'This is a good example of a government agency leveraging strategic collaboration with the private sector to implement complex digital projects that bring huge benefits to the people,' he said. Loke also said KTMB, in collaboration with Mastercard and ManagePay Systems Berhad (MPay), was preparing to launch the KITS Style Mastercard Prepaid Card, the first open-loop transit prepaid card in Malaysia and Asean issued by a rail operator. 'The virtual version of this card is already available via the KITS Style application, while the physical card will be introduced in September. Perak's Lenggong Valley Unesco site boom: Tourists soar, locals thrive, and geopark bid gains ground
LENGGONG, July 13 — Lenggong Valley continues to record rapid growth as a heritage tourism destination, with tourist arrivals soaring by over 280 per cent in just two years. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the number of tourists rose from 24,770 in 2022 to 114,182 last year, following continuous efforts to develop the area. 'Tour guides saw their income increase by 237 per cent, while accommodation operators recorded a 145 per cent increase in revenue over the same period. 'This development has had a direct impact on the local economy, especially for rural communities, including traditional villages and the Orang Asli, who are now actively involved in tourism-related activities such as handicrafts, traditional food and homestay programmes,' he said. He said this during a dinner event held in conjunction with the evaluation session of the Aspiring Lenggong Unesco Global Geopark (UGGp) site here yesterday. Saarani said scientific studies conducted have identified several areas with development potential, involving 39 geosites, 11 geoarchaeological sites, eight biosites, and 21 cultural and heritage sites. 'Five of these sites have been recognised for their international geological value, encompassing unique and interrelated elements of geological heritage, biodiversity, culture and archaeology. 'This diversity of resources makes Lenggong Valley not only an important site for research activities but also a competitive international tourism destination,' he said. He also said the state government is actively strengthening Lenggong Valley's international standing through collaborations with various international geopark networks and participation in global conferences, including with Japan, South Korea and Turkey. 'Lenggong Valley is no longer just a tourism destination, it is now a centre for human capital development based on heritage,' he added. Lenggong Valley, designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2012, spans 22 square kilometres (sq km) which is about one per cent of the total area of the Aspiring Lenggong Unesco Global Geopark, which covers 2,248 sq km. The UGGp area covers five subdistricts, Durian Pipit, Temelong, Lenggong, Kenering and Gerik, with a population of around 61,039 people. — Bernama

FRIM's reforested tin‑mine wins Unesco World Heritage status
KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 — Forest Research Institute Malaysia's man-made Selangor Forest Park (FRIM Selangor) is now the country's sixth Unesco World Heritage Site, after the 47th World Heritage Committee approved its inscription in Paris on July 11. The once‑barren former tin‑mining land has been transformed into a mature lowland rainforest, earning global recognition for its pioneering large‑scale reforestation and rich biodiversity. Malaysia's five earlier World Heritage properties are Kinabalu Park, Gunung Mulu National Park, Melaka and George Town, Lenggong Valley and the Niah Caves complex. 'This achievement demonstrates the nation's ongoing commitment to protecting natural and cultural sites of outstanding universal value,' the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture said in a press statement today. The ministry added that the recognition 'will indirectly raise Malaysia's visibility on the world stage'. 'We are confident this listing will add significant value to FRIM Selangor Forest Park as a flagship tourism product ahead of Visit Selangor 2025 and Visit Malaysia 2026,' it said.
