Boston's theater community loses an influential founder

'Ron was a lovable curmudgeon and a craftsman actor with a particular stage presence,' said Plum, who was cast in one of the company's earliest productions, 'Dial M for Murder,' when she was a Boston University undergraduate.
'He and Polly were incredibly driven theater people and their knowledge of British theater was massive,' she said. 'They were among the pioneers of Boston theater who were committed to building a strong theater community here.'
Ritchell worked as both an actor and director, giving memorable performances in such classics as 'A Moon for the Misbegotten' and 'Juno and the Paycock,' as well as in a much-beloved holiday production of Dylan Thomas's 'A Child's Christmas in Wales' that was adapted and directed by Hogan. At the Lyric, Ritchell and Hogan also produced 25 world premieres, but were best known for introducing Boston audiences to the relationship comedies of Alan Ayckbourn, and memorable productions of works by Noel Coward and George Bernard Shaw.

'Ron, in his time, was a pillar of local theater, hiring local actors,' said actor Jeremiah Kissel, 'the one union contract
in
Boston
for
Boston actors when there were only three contract houses in town — the Huntington, ART, and the Lyric. Only Ron Ritchell and Polly Hogan did a full seven-show season using
only
local performers, and by doing so launched many career actors and actresses who successfully built lives right here in Boston.'
Their commitment to local actors was also demonstrated by their leadership in launching the Theater Community Benevolent Fund (along with Mary C. Huntington, founder of the Nora Theatre), which provides confidential, financial relief to theater artists facing hardship.
After leaving the Lyric in 1998, Ritchell and Hogan launched Lyric West before retiring first to Canada and then to Florida. Hogan passed away in 2023.

Burning Man Camp Needs Help To Bring Beloved Ski Slope Back in 2025
The state of Nevada is one of the most mountainous in the United States. With over 30 peaks topping over 10,000 feet in elevation, there are seemingly endless opportunities for backcountry skiing exploration. A group of passionate Burning Man festival-goers, however, brings simulated snow-sliding to the desert floor of Black Rock City each started in 2023 as a "learning experience" has become one of Burning Man's most unique camps. Dubbed 'Lake Lahontan Ski Resort' after Black Rock City's dry lakebed, the slope is made of mats that simulate the feeling of sliding on snow. At 14-feet tall and stretching 62-feet long, the Lake Lahontan Ski Resort is just large enough to capture the thrill of skiing and snowboarding, if you use your BRC Snow Club, which has hosted Lake Lahontan Ski Resort the last two Burning Man festivals, is making a return for 2025, but needs help from the community by way of fundraising. Keep reading for to keep up with the best stories and photos in skiing? Subscribe to the new Powder To The People newsletter for weekly updates. According to the GoFundMe created by BRC Snow Club organizer Dylan Hogan, The Lake Lahontan Ski Resort will be placed in a premiere zone called the 'Espalande' this year, which costs more. Storage and transportation of the dry slope costs $20,000 alone, according to the GoFundMe fundraiser has brought in over $2,500 at time of publishing this article, by BRC Snow Club is aiming for at least $10k. If $15k-$20k is raised, BRC Snow Club will add "après-ski energy to the slope" with a speaker system, dance floor, generator, and lighting fixtures."We're still more than willing to do the heavy lifting, but now we're turning to our community in hopes that the spirit of communal effort will help carry us through," writes Hogan for BRC Snow Club's Snow Club requested funds from the Burning Man Festival, but were denied as camps are ineligible for art grants. This came as a disappointment considering the festival used video clips from last year's Lake Lahontan Ski Resort to promote ticket sales for 2025."The Org posted a (very well-produced) video on their Instagram featuring interactivity at camps, which included footage of our slope," writes Hogan for the GoFundMe page. "Flattered and impressed by the quality of the video, we accepted. What we didn't realize (until the comments rolled in) was that the video was being used as an ADVERTISEMENT to sell tickets (did somebody say decommodification?) using our camp, our project, and our labor for THEIR profit... for an event we have to pay to attend and receive no compensation or support from." Burning Man 2025 will take place from August 24-September 1, 2025. Here's hoping BRC Snow Club raises enough funds to make Lake Lahontan Ski Resort happen of us here at POWDER are pulling for you!Burning Man Camp Needs Help To Bring Beloved Ski Slope Back in 2025 first appeared on Powder on Jul 28, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

'D£aler' follows 'Not Like That Anymore' and the viral 'One Thing,' which came months into the breakthrough success of Young's track 'Messy.' The new song comes as she continues a festival run in Europe, with visits to Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Portugal next month. 'I wanted to make a song and music video that is thought-provoking and highlights sex being both a fun and light thing, not always meaningful, as well as showing how gender roles can be reversed,' Young said about 'One Thing' on Instagram, later adding, 'The album that is coming soon has some deeeeeep ones tho don't you worry.' Earlier this year, Young told Rolling Stone that I'm Only Fucking Myself, out Sept. 19, will have something for everyone. 'The new album is going to be a lot more about my personal struggle and less so about love,' she said. 'There's some real bangers on there. I can't say too much, but I can say that this feels like a step up.' After releasing her album in September, Young will embark on a headlining tour through North America, stopping by venues like New York's Terminal 5, Nashville's The Pinnacle, Seattle's WAMU Theater, and Los Angeles' Hollywood Palladium. Palace Previews Its Autumn 2025 Drop
Summary With the cooler temperatures (hopefully) around the corner,Palaceis gearing up for its first Autumn college. Albeit brief, the British skate imprint has previewed what it has in the pipeline for its Autumn 2025 drop, sharing the first photo from the presentation on Instagram. The first look at the forthcoming Autumn 2025 collection showcases a model wearing a zip-up sherpa jacket, dipped in an all-black colorway and adorned with large frog graphics in bright blue, yellow, and orange hues. As for bottoms, the model dons a pair of camouflage (presumably Realtree) pants in an earthy brown colorway. On top, an orange floppy hat – sort of resembling a bucket hat – rounds out the look. The Autumn 2025 preview arrives just about a month after Palace's most recent release, which marked the brand's third collaborative capsule with artist Jean Charles de Castelbajac. Prior to that drop, Palace was locked in on its Summer 2025 collection, which ended up consisting of seven separate drops. The final Summer 2025 release landed on June 20. Stay tuned for more info on Palace's Autumn 2025 collection as it becomes available.
