The ongoing Test series between India and England witnessed yet another match enter the final day with the fifth Test at The Oval hanging on a knife edge. England appeared set to cruise to victory on the penultimate day of the series finale thanks to centuries by Harry Brook and Joe Root when a late fightback by the bowlers rekindled the Shubman Gill-led Indian team's hopes of pulling off a series-leveling victory.

England were staring a series-clinching victory at 301/3 shortly before tea, thanks to a mammoth 195-run fourth-wicket partnership between Harry Brook (111) and Joe Root (105) when the former was dismissed by Akash Deep, holing out to Mohammed Siraj at mid off.

However, it was when Jacob Bethell (5) and a well-set Root departed in quick succession after tea, both getting dismissed by Prasidh Krishna, that the Indians starting believing again, and their supporters rediscovered their voices.

Sourav Ganguly to enter race for Cricket Association of Bengal presidential election
Former Indian captain and ex-BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is likely to contest for the President's post of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Ganguly confirmed to India Today that he will be submitting his nomination ahead of the Annual General Meeting (AGM).If Ganguly enters the race, he is expected to be elected unopposed. 'I thought KL scored superbly, one of the best I have seen him bat. His defence, close to the body and the way he was leaving, he looked so organised and in control. I saw he was frustrating the bowlers, because he was not playing, and they would wonder where they could bowl him. When the ball was in striking range, he played some magnificent shots. The way he batted in the series, I enjoyed that, he looked in that zone. His footwork was precise, organised," he added. During the series, KL ended as the third-highest run-getter, with 532 runs in 10 innings at an average of 53.20, including two centuries and two fifties, with his highest score being 137.
