Yashasvi Jaiswal Dances After Dropping 4 Catches, Faces Social Media Bashing. Video
India had a horrific start to their new era in Test cricket under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. In the first Test of the five-match series against England, Gill and co were completely outplayed in Leeds as the hosts chased down the target of 371 and won the match by five wickets. Despite registering five centuries in the match, India ended up on the losing side. The biggest reason of their defeat was the sloppiness in the field and Yashasvi Jaiswal 's dismal show in the slip turned out to be the root cause. For the record, Jaiswal dropped four catches in the second innings, which are the most by a player in a single Test innings. India grassed six catches in total during the first innings. As the young batter was facing the criticism for his poor fielding, a video from the match went viral on social media, which made things worse for Jaiswal. In a video going viral, Jaiswal was seen placed in the long-on and was merrily dancing and smiling while looking at the English crowd in the stands. The timing of the scene actually angered the fans as it took place just minutes after he dropped Ben Duckett's catch. Seeing Jaiswal in a jolly mood despite a poor show on the field, fans showed no mercy and slammed him on social media. Helped England to win single-handedly. Goal achieved. #INDvsENG — Villager Anuj Tomar (@Da___Engineer) June 24, 2025 Notably, Duckett was dropped on 97 was Jaiswal and then went on to score 149 runs as England chased down the target of 371 with ease. However, former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin urged fans and experts to cut some slack to Jaiswal, saying that the Dukes ball is heavier and difficult to adjust to. "There has been some talk about his catching at slip cordon. Yes, he has found it tough. But let's all just understand something - and cut [him] some slack - which we often fail to do is how difficult it is to catch, not just in English conditions. It's cold weather and it's also about the feel of the Duke's ball. It can take some adaptation time. The SG ball feels nice and comfortable inside the hand, the Kookaburra feels smaller. The Duke's is harder and definitely, from a field perspective, feels bigger and it's not easy," Ashwin said in a video posted on X, leaving many surprised with his remarks.

Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja Engaged In War Of Words As Fielding Woes Deepen
Last Updated: Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja exchange words as India's fielding woes deepen in the Headingley Test, with multiple dropped catches and overthrows. Star India all-rounders Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja were seen exchanging some words on the field as India's woes deepened, with the fielders being extremely poor at handling the ball, while leaking runs as well as dropping catches, not to mention overthrows. In the fourth delivery of the 62nd over, Jadeja, who had beaten Root's outside edge with a peach in the previous delivery and almost trapped him LBW before that, tossed one up to the former England skipper, inviting the drive. Root was up for it and drove towards mid-on, where Shardul overran the ball and slipped, thus giving away runs. This is what angered Jadeja, who screamed at Shardul and hurled a mouthful at him for his poor effort. Shardul, on his part, reacted and tried to explain that he had slipped. Root and Stokes were aware of the situation to pinch an extra run. Watch the video here: #INDvsENG Ravindra jadeja 😡 shardul thakur #shardulthakur #Jadeja — Indian boy (@Rizzu47135W) June 24, 2025 Jadeja sets high standards in the field, and his reaction was on the expected lines, as a better effort from all fielders was desirable in that situation. India have, in general, been poor in the field in the Headingley Test. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal alone has dropped four catches in two innings. Duckett was dropped again when he was on 98 in the second innings. Resuming on 21/0, England's openers set the tone with a disciplined yet enterprising stand. Duckett survived a major scare on 97 when Yashasvi Jaiswal split a top-edged pull off Mohammed Siraj, permitting Duckett to notch up his sixth Test century. Joe Root (14 batting) and captain Ben Stokes (13 batting) with a cumulative experience of 266 Test appearances between them will need to put the finishing touches in the final session. Southpaw Duckett did survive a quality morning spell from ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah (0/55 in 16 overs) but stuck to his strengths with amazing conviction, laying a foundation for a win against India with an 188-run opening partnership alongside Crawley (65).
