"Development of Bihar is in PM's heart": BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad
Speaking to ANI, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, 'The development of Bihar is in the PM's heart. Whenever he comes to Bihar, development projects worth thousands of crores become a reality here,' underlining the central government's commitment to the state's progress.
He also reacted to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's recent remarks, calling them 'petty' and urging him to focus on constructive activities like yoga.
'I do not want to comment on these petty matters. Let the elections come, we will give a lot of answers... I would request him that tomorrow is Yoga Day, come and do some Yoga, do some Pranayam, you will get a lot of peace,' he added.
He also spoke at the train flagging-off ceremony, stating, 'We are here to flag off the Vande Bharat train. The PM really adores the state of Bihar and is concerned about its development.'
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will embark on a two-day visit, beginning with Bihar and Odisha today, followed by Andhra Pradesh on June 21.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects at Siwan, a major boost to infrastructure and socio-economic development in Bihar today.
Boosting railway infrastructure in the region, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new Vaishali-Deoria railway line project worth over Rs 400 crore and flag off a new train service on this route. Additionally, in a major boost to connectivity in North Bihar, the Prime Minister will also flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah.
Furthering the vision of 'Make in India - Make for the World,' the Prime Minister will also flag off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowra Plant, for export to the Republic of Guinea. This is the first export locomotive manufactured in this factory. They are equipped with high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion systems, microprocessor-based control systems, ergonomic cab designs and incorporate technologies like regenerative braking.
In line with his commitment to conserving and rejuvenating the river Ganga, the Prime Minister will inaugurate six Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange project, worth over Rs 1,800 crore, to cater to the needs of people in the region.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for water supply, sanitation, and STPs worth over Rs 3000 crore in various towns across Bihar, aiming to provide clean and safe drinking water to the citizens of these towns.
In a major boost to power infrastructure in the region, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Bihar. Standalone BESSs are being installed at 15 grid substations of the state, including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, and Siwan, among others. The capacity of the battery to be installed in each sub-station is between 20 and 80 MWh. It will save the distribution companies from buying electricity at expensive rates by feeding the already stored electricity back to the grid, directly benefiting the consumers.
The Prime Minister will also release the first instalment to more than 53,600 beneficiaries of PMAY U in Bihar. He will also hand over keys to a few beneficiaries to mark the Grih Pravesh Ceremony of more than 6,600 completed houses of PMAY U. (ANI)

NEW DELHI: A parliamentary panel meeting on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj had to be postponed abruptly on Tuesday as BJP MPs boycotted its meeting in protest against the presence of activist Medha Patkar and actor-turned-activist Prakash Raj who were invited to appear before the committee. The meeting saw stormy scenes as former Union minister and BJP MP Parshottam Rupala along with other ruling party MPs stormed out with some calling Patkar as "anti-national". According to sources, a BJP MP told the meeting that 'Prime Minister of Pakistan could have been invited for the meeting." The panel, headed by Congress MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka was called to discuss the implementation and effectiveness of the land acquisition law enacted by Parliament when the Congress-led UPA government was in power in 2013. According to sources, within 40 minutes into the meeting, the BJP MPs began protests against the panel's decision to hear activist Medha Patkar, and called her "anti-national". While a BJP MP told this paper that they were not informed about the deposition of Medha Patkar and Prakash Raj, panel head Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka said that it is a normal practice for a committee to invite civil society members and other stakeholders on various issues.

Farmers' protest against Shaktipeeth disrupts traffic on national highways
Kolhapur: Thousands of vehicles travelling on national highways in western Maharashtra and the Marathwada region experienced disruptions and were stranded for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The delay was caused by the chakka jam protest conducted by farmers under the banner of Shaktipeeth Highway Virodhi Sangharsh Samiti across 12 districts. The farmers opposed the proposed 802km Shaktipeeth project, which aims to connect Pawnar in Wardha district to Patra Devi in Sindhudurg district. The project is estimated to cost Rs 86,000 crore. The protest was led by farmers' leader Raju Shetti, former MLA Ruturaj Patil, and former MLA Raju Awale at Panchaganga bridge in Shiroli. Traffic on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway 48 at Panchaganga bridge in Shiroli, and the Nagpur-Ratnagiri National Highway 166 at Ankali Phata in Sangli district was affected by the protest. Protests also took place on the Kalyan-Nirmal National Highway 222 in Nanded, the Latur-Mumbai National Highway 548B, and in Hingoli, further impacting highway traffic. Despite the police earmarking alternative routes, many vehicles remained immobilised for nearly three hours. Nadgowda Vallari, a truck driver from Bengaluru, said he had been stuck near the Tawade hotel in Kolhapur for two and a half hours. "My truck is a four-axle truck with heavy industrial machinery on it. I can't think of entering small city roads," he said. Omkar Salunkhe, a traveller from Gandhinagar, said, "I wanted to travel merely 5km to reach Shiroli. The alternative route, via Kasba Bawda-Shiye, is nearly 18km long. Therefore, instead of taking the alternative route, I am stranded here waiting for the protest to conclude." A significant police presence was maintained at the protest sites. In Kolhapur, some protesting farmers attempted 'jalsamadhi' by jumping into the swollen Panchaganga river at Shiroli bridge, but were prevented by the police. Sushila Patil, a farmer from Kogil village in Kolhapur, said, "Govt is not allowing us to die, nor to live. If our farmland is acquired, how will we survive? What will we eat? My family of eight survives on our small piece of farmland. What will we do if all the farmland gets acquired for this project? If they (officials) come for land acquisition, we will teach them a lesson. We will die, but won't give our farmland." Police had issued a notice to Raju Shetti, urging him to refrain from reaching the protest site, but he did not comply. Shetti said, "Getting wet in the rain, farmers in large numbers are protesting against govt because they want to save their farmlands. The Shaktipeeth highway will further increase the severity of floods in Kolhapur and Sangli districts. CM Devendra Fadnavis, on July 6, will be coming to the Vitthal-Rukmini temple at Pandharpur for the Ashadi-Ekadashi puja. Before that, on July 4, the farmers will pray at Vitthal-Rukmini temple, requesting Lord Vitthal to give the CM some sense to cancel the Shaktipeeth project." Meanwhile, opposition party MLAs and MLCs protested in front of the legislative assembly on Tuesday, demanding the cancellation of the project. MLC Satej Patil, MLC Ambadas Danve, Jitendra Awhad, and others attended the event. Satej Patil addressed the issue during the monsoon session of the assembly, stating, "We are celebrating Agriculture Day on Tuesday. Farmers from all 12 districts have to come on the roads on the same day to save their farmlands. When there already is a Nagpur-Ratnagiri National Highway with only 25% traffic movement, why is there a need to construct another highway, destroying fertile land?" Satish Kulkarni, who heads the Nanded local action committee of farmers against the Shakitpeeth highway, said: "Around 300 farmers from Nanded distrcit will be affected. We all have well-irrigated agricultural lands that receive water from Upper Penganga and Purna dams. No govt compensation can cover our damage," he said. Penny stock: Spright Agro Ltd on Tuesday, 1 July 2025, announced that the company has successfully executed an agro supply order worth ₹ 299 crore for some Ahmedabad, Gujarat-based clients, according to an exchange filing. Spright Agro 'announced the successful execution of agro commodity supply orders worth Rs. 299 crores for clients based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This marks a significant milestone in the company's agri-trading operations,' said the company in the BSE filing. Highlighted its timely delivery of order supplies, the company also focused on its financial performance for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Spright Agro's revenue from core operations witnessed a 127% year-on-year (YoY) rise to ₹ 165.17 crore for the year ended 31 March 2025, compared to ₹ 72.58 crore in the previous financial year. Apart from the sales figures, the company's net profit also witnessed a 68.5% YoY rise to ₹ 19.58 crore in the financial year 2024-25, compared to ₹ 11.62 crore in the previous financial year. Currently, the company is focusing its efforts on scaling high-margin agri-trading operations and enhancing supply-side efficiencies, which has driven this strong profitability growth over the period. 'The company aims to create strong distribution networks, enabling it to deliver high-quality agricultural products to a broader customer base,' they said. Spright Agro shares closed 3.9% lower at ₹ 2.96 after Tuesday's stock market session, compared to ₹ 3.08 at the previous market close. The company announced the order execution update right before the stock market closed on 1 July 2025. The shares of the farming and agricultural trader hit their 52-week high level at ₹ 44.66 on 9 August 2024, while the 52-week low level was at ₹ 2.93 on 1 July 2025, according to data collected from BSE. The shares closed higher after hitting their year-low levels on Tuesday. Spright Agro shares have given stock market investors more than 1,641% returns on their investment in the last five years. However, the stock is down 88.49% in the last one-year period. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the stock has lost 80.95% in 2025.
