Nancy Meyers Reacts With Surprise to News of 'The Holiday' Limited Series
On August 1, it was reported that Nancy Meyers's 2006 film The Holiday was in development as a limited series for Apple TV+ by Deadline. But it looks like Meyers had no idea about the new show and was quick to comment on the production in an Instagram Story.
Sharing a screenshot of a report on The Holiday series, Meyers wrote over it, 'News to me. Imagine my surprise when I opened Instagram and this was the first post I saw.'
Here's everything we know about the project so far.
In the original film, two women trade homes in the U.K. countryside and Los Angeles after struggling with their personal lives. Amanda Woods is a Hollywood trailer editor who ends her engagement and Iris is a newspaper columnist stuck in a rut. After trading spaces, Amanda meets Iris's widower brother, Graham, and surprises herself by reconnecting emotionally to love. Iris meets Amanda's neighbor, Arthur, a forgotten Hollywood icon, and then meets a film composer named Miles; both men help her transform.
The series will likely be some version of Meyers's original story, keeping 'the setup of the movie about a single American and single British woman living very different lives who swap their houses for the holidays and find love in the process.'
The original cast included Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black, but Deadline stated the show will feature 'new characters,' and thus new actors. But maybe we can hope for a cameo?
Krissie Ducker is serving as the writer and executive producer for The Holiday series, along with comedian Rob Delaney as a consultant on the script.

Putin's ‘secret daughter' laments father who killed ‘millions' and ‘destroyed' her life as she pivots to support Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin's alleged secret daughter spoke out against her father in a cryptic post condemning the man who 'destroyed' her and 'took millions of lives.' Elizaveta Krivonogikh, a 22-year-old art school graduate living in Paris who is believed to Putin's youngest daughter, shared the messages on her private Telegram, in line with her increasing openness on Instagram as she's started to share more images of herself. 4 22-year-old Elizaveta Krivonogoikh is supposedly Vladimir Putin's secret love child. social media Advertisement 'It's liberating to be able to show my face to the world again,' she wrote, Bild reported. 'It reminds me of who I am and who destroyed my life,' she added. The Telegram chat, dubbed 'Art of Luiza,' references her work pseudonym Luiza Rozova. Advertisement Krivonogikh didn't explicitly name Putin in either post, but has also never shot down the popular theories surrounding her true parentage. The budding artist was born in 2003 after a suspected affair between Putin and her mother, Svetlana, the president's then-housekeeper. 4 Putin has never confirmed the rumored love child. POOL/AFP via Getty Images The bombshell was first revealed after a 2020 investigation by Russian media outlet Proekt, citing her 'phenomenal resemblance' to Putin. He isn't listed on her birth certificate, but 'Vladimirovna' was included, translating to 'daughter of Vladimir.' Advertisement In 2021, slain journalist and Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny exposed Krivonogikh's Instagram, which highlighted her life of luxury and her family's staggering wealth that many have attributed to their connection with the disgraced Russian president. 4 Krivonogikh returned to social media and slammed her rumored father. Instagram / luizaroz__ While Krivonogikh originally celebrated life in the spotlight, she retreated after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2021 and her Instagram was suddenly shut down. She's since returned, but was more reserved at first, hiding her face in many photos. She's now seemingly changed her tune — and swapped sides on the devastating war after previously mourning her inability to 'make an extra lap around my beloved St. Petersburg.' Advertisement Krivonogikh has since denounced her previous Gucci-encrusted lifestyle of obscene wealth and speaks openly against her supposed father's massacre in Ukraine while working in a Parisian art gallery specializing in anti-war works. 4 Krivonogikh also denounced Putin's invasion of Ukraine. AP Krivonogikh also adopted an extra pseudonym, Elizaveta Rudnova, inspired by Putin's late ally Oleg Rudnov — a cheeky stab at her elusive parentage. Still, critics of Putin haven't quite bought her reshaped image and insist that she shouldn't be working in a space where she could be interacting with Ukrainians, regardless of her stance. 'Am I really responsible for the activities of my family, who can't even hear me?' Krivonogikh wrote. Putin is also rumored to share two secret sons, a 10-year-old and a 6-year-old, with his former gymnast fling and Olympic gold medalist Alina Kabaeva.

Unearthed Story From James Bond Creator Will Shock Longtime Fans
If you're browsing the magazine section at your local bookstore, you should 100 percent grab a copy of the latest print edition of Men's Journal. And, after that, if you're ready to totally rethink your assumptions about James Bond creator Ian Fleming, you pick up an issue of the mystery magazine The Strand. In it, you'll find a recently rediscovered story penned by Fleming, which will make even his biggest fans think differently about his writing and reputation. Here's why this newly rediscovered Fleming short story is so cool, where to read it, and what it means for the legacy of James Bond. What is the new Ian Fleming short story? In the current issue of The Strand magazine, the long-time mystery and thriller publication has recently unearthed stories from both Ian Fleming and Graham Greene. The Fleming story in The Strand is titled "The Shameful Dream," and it's not about a spy or an assassin at all. Instead, the story is about an editor of a literary magazine who is 100 percent certain he's going to get fired from his job, because he's been ominously summoned to a meeting with his very rich boss. With a good amount of humor, but also self-deprecation, the narrator goes into all sorts of hypothetical situations in his mind, but also recalls the ways in which many of his other colleagues were fired or maneuvered into quitting outright. The stakes are oddly low, but the psychological realism and wit are compelling and gripping. This is a story that represents what Fleming might have been like had he not become a thriller writer, but instead, a writer of odd short stories. Fleming was very good friends with the author Kingsley Amis in real life. This story has more of a touch of that kind of writing, a sort of short story version of Lucky Jim with smart observations about social class and money. It may not be the greatest Fleming work of all time, but it is a revelation. Before he invented James Bond, Fleming's older brother, Peter Fleming, was a well-known writer and considered a true literary talent. In some ways, "The Shameful Dream" represents a road not taken for Ian Fleming, a style of writing that may have put him in the same class as his there more lost Ian Fleming Stories? The newest unearthed Ian Fleming short story in The Strand is not the only bit of new lost Fleming writing out there. It's actually an excerpt from a new book called Talk of the Devil, which was published in May in the U.S. by Harper Collins. Talk of the Devil includes this new short story, as well as several unpublished essays and various travelogues, which Fleming was famous for. While we're waiting for more news about the next James Bond film, The Strand's new excerpt and Talk of the Devil are great ways to dive deep into the universe of James Bond, and into unexplored artistic territories, charted by the man who started it Story From James Bond Creator Will Shock Longtime Fans first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 24, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword
