Van Halen's David Lee Roth, 70, Spotted in Rare Outing in L.A.

Van Halen's David Lee Roth made a rare outing in Los Angeles on June 26 He kept a low profile in a pair of brown Carhartt overalls and a tan baseball cap The 70-year-old rock legend's L.A. outing came nearly two months after he performed his first solo concert in five years and announced a summer 2025 tourDavid Lee Roth was spotted making a rare public outing in Los Angeles last week. On June 26, the Van Halen star, 70, was photographed leaving a building. He kept a low profile in a pair of brown Carhartt overalls, a brown work jacket and brown cowboy boots. The rock legend — once known for his long hair and often going shirtless on stage — also wore a tan baseball cap and had a colorful bandana tied around his neck. Roth's L.A. outing came nearly two months after he performed his first solo concert in five years at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland, on May 3. His set list for the gig exclusively featured Van Halen classics. That same day, Roth surprised fans by announcing a summer tour that is set to kick off on July 22 in Paso Robles, Calif., and wrap in Napa, Calif., on Sept. 14. He will also make stops in Florida, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Oklahoma and more states. Back in October 2021, Roth announced his intention to retire from music. He said he would be ending his career with five shows at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in January 2022. "I am throwing in the shoes. I'm retiring," Roth told the Las Vegas Review-Journal at the time. "This is the first, and only, official announcement. You've got the news. Share it with the world." He added, "I'm not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows." In the summer of 2021, he had been on the road, touring with Van Halen. He rejoined the band — best known for hits including "Jump," "Hot for Teacher" and "Why Can't This Be Love" — in 2006 after a split of more than 20 years. Roth, who was just days away from celebrating his 67th birthday at the time, also told the outlet that he was "compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter." "I've given you all I've got to give. It's been an amazing, great run, no regrets, nothing to say about anybody," he said of his impending retirement, adding, "I'll miss you all." Despite the big retirement announcement, Roth didn't stay away from music for long. He later released a series of newly recorded versions of several Van Halen hits, recorded in 2022. During his May 3 concert in Maryland, Roth alluded to his supposed retirement — with a playful nod to an iconic film. "We've reached the end of my first retirement," he joked to the crowd, per Ultimate Classic Rock. "How many retirements did Rocky have, nine?" Read the original article on People

Today's ‘Wordle' #1478 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, July 6th

How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Saturday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: The long 4th Of July weekend is rapidly hurtling toward its conclusion. It's been quite lovely. Summer is in full swing and I'm just hoping we get more monsoon weather soon to cool off these hot days in the high mountain desert. We're also rapidly approach Wordle #1500. With fewer possible answers remaining than Wordles we've already solved, I keep wondering what the New York Times will do when we run out, though that's still over two years away. For now, we'll solve today's. How To Solve Today's Wordle The Hint: Today's Wordle is plural. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. SPARE only left me with 90 remaining solutions but even with two yellow boxes, I had a bit of trouble with this one. BOINK slashed that number to 8, which wasn't ideal (Wordle Bot says I should have picked CAROL here, and I tend to agree). VICAR left me with two, though I only came up with ATRIA. The other was RADII which is kind of an insanely obscure word. The really curious thing here is that typically Wordle answers aren't plural, but today's was. It just didn't end with an 'S' which I think must be the actual rule (no plurals ending in 'S' so no 'BOOKS' for instance). We tied, so the Wordle Bot and I get no points for that and no points for guessing in four. Our July totals remain: Erik: -2 points Wordle Bot: 4 points The word "atria" is the plural of "atrium," which comes from Latin atrium, meaning "central court" or "hall" of a Roman house. Its origin is uncertain, but it may be related to the Latin ater, meaning "black" or "dark," possibly referring to the sooty appearance of early Roman homes with central hearths. David Corenswet Shares ‘Superman' Advice He Got From Henry Cavill & Tyler Hoechlin

As David Corenswet takes over the big red cape for James Gunn's Superman, he had some support from previous Men of Steel. The actor recently shared the 'very encouraging' words he received from Man of Steel (2013), Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017) star Henry Cavill, as well as Tyler Hoechlin from The CW's Superman & Lois, about taking on the role of DC Comics superhero for the big screen. More from Deadline Nicholas Hoult On Auditioning Against David Corenswet For Superman: 'Very Awkward' David Corenswet Got 'Claustrophobic' In 'Superman' Suit: 'Intense Experience' 2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming 'I had the pleasure of exchanging letters with two previous Supermans, Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin. They were very encouraging and we had a lovely exchange and I'm excited to meet them one day. It'll be great when we can all get in a room together,' he told Heart. 'Both of them, interestingly, sort of said in their own words, 'I'm not gonna try to give you any tips.' And I think that's a very Superman thing.' Corenswet added, 'They really just conveyed to me an encouragement and a sense of, you know, have fun with it. Which I think is Superman's way of doing it too.' In addition to Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Gunn's Superman stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, among a star-studded cast bringing more DC favorites to life. Premiering July 11 in theaters, Superman marks the launch of Gunn's new DCU, after he and Peter Safran took over at DC Studios in 2022. That December, Cavill confirmed the 'sad news' that his Superman would not be returning for Gunn's DCU. The CW then cancelled Superman & Lois, following a four-season run that began in 2021.
