Andrew Flintoff reveals how he nearly joined WWE, trained to face the Undertaker
"I just hid for a bit and started to wonder, 'What am I going to do now? Some of the TV offers started to come, which was never the plan — I stumbled into that. I nearly joined the WWE, I didn't want to box, that was never the plan! I would have been called 'Big Fred'!"Flintoff added that his initial motivation was to regain fitness, and his childhood love for wrestling inspired him to pursue the WWE route.'I wanted to get fit again, but I needed motivation. As a kid, I loved WWE, so I came up with this idea, because I was doing League of Their Own with Sky, to fight the Undertaker in Manchester.'advertisement'I wrote this treatment up and presented the idea to Sky, it started gathering momentum and next minute it's being passed onto WWE. I was in contact with the WWE, Vince McMahon!'As the idea took off, Flintoff was flown over to WWE's academy in the United States for initial training, where he quickly realised the level of physical punishment involved.'They fly us over business class, next morning we get in the car and go to WWE's academy, two massive units all branded. We're sitting in the car and these things are walking past me, like 6ft 8in monsters.'My missus asked, are you going to be okay? I said, 'Yeah, I'll be fine.' I walked in — on the first day, nobody liked me because it's really competitive with 60 of us all wanting a contract with the WWE — then this English lad walked in."Despite his enthusiasm, things took a turn when he suffered an injury during the intense training sessions."So I go in and we do the warm-ups, then they put me in the ring for three hours and I just ran the ropes, I'd run into someone and they'd throw me. The second day I went in there, I had lashes all down my back and my missus said, 'Are you alright with this?' I was sore and thought something's not right here,' he recalled.advertisement'I said to this physio, 'I think I'm having a back spasm,' so they're all like, 'Oh the English lad's got a back spasm,' so they put me on the couch, he's pushing me and I can feel my ribs separating,' he added.Flintoff also worked on his mic skills, but ultimately chose not to pursue the WWE opportunity due to family considerations.'The money was obscene, but we wanted to move back from Dubai,' he said.'The kids wanted to play cricket and didn't want to go to America, so I just changed it to boxing and had a fight instead,' he added.Boxing, Top-Gear and Coaching RolesShortly after, Flintoff took on a professional boxing bout against Richard Dawson, winning on points.Since then, he has enjoyed a varied post-cricket career, including hosting roles on Top Gear and serving as a consultant coach with the England men's team and the England Lions.- EndsMust Watch

Squid Game Season 3 fails to match Season 2's opening weekend, despite breaking Netflix viewership record
Squid Game season 3, with its finale, has officially become one of the most-watched series in Netflix's history. As per data shared by the streamer, in just three days since its June 27 release, the Hwang Dong Hyuk directorial pulled in a massive 368.4 million watch hours, which Netflix says adds up to 60.1 million views globally. While that made it the most-watched title of the week across both English and non-English categories, it still fell short of Season 2's opening. And Season 1 still holds the crown as Netflix's most-watched series ever. Here's a breakdown of how the Lee Byung Hun–Lee Jung Jae starrer is stacking up. Also read: Squid Game 3 ending: 7 burning questions answered in Netflix thriller finale; future possibilities explored Squid Game season 3, which finally decided the fate of Player 426 and the twisted game where VIPs bet on human lives like racehorses, hit number 1 in 93 countries, including the US, UK, Japan, and Argentina. But when stacked against the numbers pulled in by season 2, it slightly lags. Season 2, despite being less loved by critics, clocked 68 million views in its first four days, beating Wednesday's 2022 debut of 50.1 million. For context, Netflix's viewership charts run Monday to Sunday, and season 3 only had three days in that window. Still, it's now the ninth most-watched non-English-language season ever, while seasons 1 and 2 still hold the top two spots. With a month still to go, we'll see if it climbs higher or drops off. Thanks to the season 3 hype, the earlier seasons have found their way back into the Top 10. Season 2, which dropped in December, re-entered the charts last week, while season 1 landed back at number six. Netflix doesn't have daily viewership data for season 1 in the newer 'views' format, but that hasn't stopped it from holding the all-time record, 1.65 billion hours watched in four weeks and 142 million households tuned in. Also read: Squid Game Season 3 ending explained: The truth about Gi Hun's fate, the mystery woman, and all survivors The director of the South Korean thriller series, Hwang Dong Hyuk, has made it clear, there's no next season in the pipeline. But in the final few minutes of season 3, Cate Blanchett shows up playing ddakji (A Korean game), with someone, teasing her as the new recruiter. Which pretty much reveals the game's not over, it's going global. With the Korean setup now shut down, the VIPs who managed to flee the scene alongside Lee Byung-hun are likely shifting operations overseas. The show already tasted spin-off success with its first reality version, Squid Game: The Challenge, and a second season is on the way. Meanwhile, the American spin-off is rumoured to be helmed by David Fincher, the man behind House of Cards, Mank, and Michael Fassbender's The Killer. Hwang had earlier told Variety that if an American version happens, he wants in. He added, 'But if it's the US version that they're making, I think sharing of ideas would be enough. I have no intention of being completely hands-on in a project like that. Having said that, if Netflix asks and if I feel like my contribution is needed, then as long as it's not something that would interfere with whatever I'm working on at that time, I would be happy to provide what they need from me.'

IND vs ENG Test: Ben Stokes can't stop gushing over Rishabh Pant's strokeplay
England captain Ben Stokes speaks during a press conference at Edgbaston, Birmingham. (AP/PTI Photo) The Times of India in England: The last time Rishabh Pant batted in a Test match at Edgbaston, back in 2022, he scored 203 runs, with 146 out of them coming off 111 balls in a magical counter-attack in the first innings. That performance came when England, under captain Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, were starting to set a template for an ultra-aggressive brand of Test cricket which would come to be known as 'Bazball'. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! No wonder Stokes' face lit up when the English media mentioned Pant's name in the pre-match media briefing on Tuesday. Pant may have hurt England with twin centuries in the first Test but that has only enhanced the unapologetic admiration Stokes has for him. 'Even though he's my opposition, I absolutely love watching Rishabh play cricket. I love the way he takes it on in all formats of the game,' Stokes gushed, the wide grin reminiscent of his expression after Pant charged at him off the second ball in the first innings at Headingley. Stokes chose to highlight the unrelenting scrutiny that follows Pant because of his audacious batting style. Poll How do you rate Rishabh Pant's batting style in Test cricket? Ultra-aggressive Cautious Balanced Unpredictable 'He's got a bit of a stick in his time. But when you let that type of talent be free, the sort of thing that happened last week can happen,' Stokes said. 'Credit to him for getting two hundreds in the game. But we know we're going to get our chances with the way that Rishabh plays. 'On a different day, it could have looked a little bit different if one of those had gone straight up and to hand. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo We know what he brings to the Indian team. Team India All Smiles at Edgbaston Nets | Gill, Pant, Kuldeep Lead the Vibes Moeen, Flintoff give pep talks Over the last two days, Moeen Ali and Andrew Flintoff visited the English practice sessions. Moeen was seen spending a considerable amount of time with off-spinner Shoaib Bashir on Monday afternoon while Flintoff spent time with Jofra Archer. Moeen has tormented India in the past with his off-spin in a couple of series in 2014 and 2018. With the pitch expected to aid spin as the Test wears on and Moeen being a local here, Bashir looked locked in when he was taken aside for some technical talk. Ben Stokes press conference: On Jasprit Bumrah 'problem', Rishabh Pant battle and more 'It's been a constant thing with us, getting former England players and let the players to talk to them. I think it's great for Bash (Bashir) too. They've never met until yesterday, which I found amazing. Bash was absolutely buzzing that he got to spend time with Moeen Ali yesterday. 'So, the more times that we can get people like that into the dressing room to offer their advice to specific individuals, the better,' Stokes said.
