‘Balasaheb Thackeray must be blessing me,' Fadnavis quips sarcastically on Uddhav-Raj reunion
Speaking after the Worli event, where the Thackeray cousins shared the stage for the first time in years to mark the rollback of government orders mandating Hindi as a third language in state schools from Class 1, Fadnavis said, "It was supposed to be a vijay (victory) rally, but turned out to be a rudali speech."
"Rudali" refers to professional female mourners traditionally hired to express grief at funerals in parts of Rajasthan and other regions.
The report says that Fadnavis "thanked" Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for jokingly crediting him with achieving what even Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray couldn't , bringing the two estranged cousins together.
"Balasaheb Thackeray must be blessing me. They claim it was a Vijay Utsav but it ended up being a rudali darshan,' Fadnavis quipped.

Five MNS workers arrested for coconut attack on share analyst's office
Mumbai: Five workers from the MNS were arrested for throwing coconuts at the office shutters and damaging the glass of share market investment analyst Sushil Kedia here on Saturday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The incident occurred after a significant number of police officers were deployed outside Kedia's Worli office due to MNS workers' anger over Kedia's post on X on Friday. Kedia stated on X that he does not speak fluent Marathi despite residing in Mumbai for 30 years and challenged MNS chief Raj Thackeray on the issue. Following the incident, Kedia posted a video message on his social media account on Saturday, requesting "Raj Thackerayji to consider his submission". He said he had overreacted out of emotional impulse and expressed admiration for Thackeray's positions on various issues concerning individuals like himself. In the video, he said he accepted his mistake and offered an apology. Earlier in the day, alleged MNS activists reportedly damaged the glass facade of Kedia's office in protest. A police officer from the Worli Police Station stated, "The MNS party workers tried to enter Kedia's office premise but were stopped by the police present outside. The five arrested workers first broke coconuts on the step before throwing coconuts at Kedia's office shutters when police intervened." , stating: "My tweet was made under stress and a disturbed state of mind. I overreacted, and I am now withdrawing it. I hold deep appreciation and gratitude for Raj Thackeray — for the strong issues he raises and the bold stands he takes on matters that concern all of us. He has been a true champion of Hindutva and nationalism. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This time, when those among us are at loggerheads with each other, my response was emotional and misplaced. I recognise my mistake and wish to correct it. Similarly, I sincerely hope that concerned individuals, instead of creating fear, will offer encouragement to others to overcome hesitation and work toward achieving fluency in the Marathi language." Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) KK Upadhaya stated that the five party workers have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections 223 (disobedience to order promulgated by a public servant), 189(2) (unlawful assembly of more than five persons), 189(3) (joining an unlawful assembly knowingly), 190 (every member of an unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 191(2) (rioting), 191(3) (rioting armed with a deadly weapon), 125 (act endangering life), 324(4) and (5) (mischief), 37(1)(c) (acts against which there is no right of private defence), and 135 (assaults or uses criminal force to any person).

Investor apologises after MNS attack over remarks targeting Raj Thackeray
Five Maharashtra Navnirman Sena supporters were detained on Saturday for the attack on investor Sushil Kedia's office in Worli here over the latter's social media post about not learning Marathi and his "kya karna hai bol" dare to Raj Thackeray. Hours after the attack, Kedia apologised for the social post claiming he had overreacted and also professed admiration for Thackeray. Kedia said he had uploaded the post in a wrong state of mind under duress and stress and wished to correct it unequivocally after realising his mistake. "Having come under pressure mentally from the violence inflicted on those who do not know Marathi, I ended up over-reacting," Kedia said. "I realise I must take back my over-reactions and withdraw," he asserted. In his apology video, Kedia said, "Even after living for 30 years in Mumbai, the level of proficiency and fluency that a native Marathi born can have, we will not be able to achieve and for avoiding any embarrassments or confusions, one has been using Marathi language only in less than formal situations, with a casual atmosphere only before people very closely known to them." "It has not happened to me in the use of seven other Indian languages that I could learn over a period of time," Kedia added. Kedia said he has a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude towards Raj Thackeray for the strong issues he raises, the strength with which stands up in matters like the Hanuman Chalisa campaign (when Uddhav Thackeray was the chief minister), championing the cause of Hindutva and "rashtrawad" (nationalism). Kedia came into the crosshairs of the Raj Thackeray-led party on Friday. After some incidents of people getting thrashed over non-use of Marathi triggered by the controversy linked to the "imposition" of Hindi and three-language policy in state schools, Kedia had expressed his anger through a social media post targeting Thackeray. "I don't know Marathi properly even after living for 30 years in Mumbai & with your gross misconduct I have made it a resolve that until such people as you are allowed to pretend to be taking care of Marathi Manus I take pratigya I won't learn Marathi. Kya karna hai bol?" Kedia had posted on X. In response, MNS supporters, shouting slogans in support of Thackeray and Marathi, had thrown coconuts at the glass door entrance of Kedia's office this morning, with videos of the attack going viral on social media immediately. In the videos, security personnel posted at the site can be seen trying to thwart the attack in vain, while office staff attempted to down shutters to avoid getting hit by the coconuts. Five MNS supporters have been detained in connection with the attack and further probe into the incident is underway, a Worli police station official said. "They have been brought to the police station for questioning and further legal action," the official said. Incidentally, police had provided security to Kedia's office situated at Century Bazar after his post began generating a backlash from MNS supporters.
