When Saiyaara hero Ahaan Pandey was 'least pampered' in his family: 'Lived in a corridor'
Synopsis Ahaan Panday, nephew of Chunky Panday, marks his Bollywood debut in 'Saiyaara,' directed by Mohit Suri. The film's success, grossing Rs 115 crore in five days, has spotlighted Ahaan's promising entry. Chunky Panday's witty Instagram post, celebrating the family's unexpected rise amidst Bollywood's dynastic landscape, has sparked online debate, with users comparing Ahaan's debut favorably against other star kids. Agencies Ahaan Panday's Remarkable Entry, Humble Roots, and the Internet Buzz That Followed The release of Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri, has firmly placed debutant actor Ahaan Panday into the limelight. Though this marks his first venture into cinema, Ahaan is far from a stranger to the public eye. As the nephew of 80s Bollywood star Chunky Panday and cousin to actress Ananya Panday, he's been a familiar presence on digital platforms for years, particularly through multiple appearances on his sister Alanna Panday's popular YouTube channel. One such appearance offered a rare glimpse into Ahaan's childhood, where he reflected on his early years growing up in a large, closely knit into a bustling household, Ahaan was raised in a traditional joint family setting, sharing his home with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Despite his family's prominence, his childhood was anything but luxurious. He revealed that for the first fourteen years of his life, he resided in what was essentially a hallway, a makeshift space within the house. 'I can't give you a specific one, but I do know that I was the least pampered. I know that because I lived in a corridor for 7 years of my life," he stated. Although Alanna clarified that it was technically a room constructed within a corridor, Ahaan emphasized that it was still part of the hallway, wedged between his father's and grandmother's humorously recalled how family members regularly passed by, often catching him wrapped in just a asked who among the household received the most affection, Ahaan promptly said that he was the least indulged. Despite the current grandeur of his lifestyle—he now lives in a lavish four-storey mansion in central Mumbai with luxurious amenities like a games room and dedicated quarters for staff—he did not always have such comforts. His humble memories stand in stark contrast to the extravagance he enjoys reflecting on their shared childhood, remembered that during their earlier days, the entire Panday family lived under one roof. This included their parents, Chikki and Deanna Panday, alongside actor Chunky Panday, his wife Bhavana, and their daughters Ananya and Rysa. Their grandparents also lived with them. It was a home bustling with life, love, and limited space. Alanna voiced a sentiment familiar to many raised in joint families—while privacy might be compromised, the bond and support are irreplaceable. Ahaan wholeheartedly agreed, cherishing those memories and stating that he wouldn't change anything about his Suri's Saiyaara has proven to be a box-office juggernaut, raking in an impressive Rs 115 crore within just five days of its release. The film's phenomenal performance has not only solidified its commercial success but has also positioned Ahaan Panday as a promising new face in the industry. Critics and audiences alike are applauding his screen presence, further fueling conversations about his unexpected to the buzz, Ahaan's uncle, Chunky Panday, posted a cryptic and witty update on Instagram that quickly went viral on the well-known Bollywood subreddit, BollyBlindsGossip. The post featured images of Chunky, his daughter Ananya, and nephew Ahaan, captioned with a cheeky line: 'In a world of Kapoors and Khans, Pandays came out of syllabus." The remark subtly poked fun at Bollywood's dynastic culture while celebrating the family's unexpected post ignited a flurry of online reactions. One user commented that it's truly surprising to see Ananya Panday outshining Shah Rukh Khan's daughter professionally and Ahaan delivering a better debut than Amitabh Bachchan's grandson. Another user remarked on the amusing nature of seeing the less-expected Panday lineage outperforming several major star kids. Some took a more cynical view, humorously suggesting that it's now time for the 'nepo babies' to start competing amongst themselves for dominance in the film industry.
