Auburn baseball vs. Coastal Carolina: Prediction, odds for game one Here are the latest odds for Auburn's Super Regional opener vs. Coastal Carolina.
Friday night will be historical for the Auburn Tigers baseball program, as it will host its first-ever NCAA Super Regional at Plainsman Park.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are next on the docket, a team enters the series on an impressive 21-game winning streak which includes two wins over ECU and a victory over Fairfield in last weekend's Conway Regional. This year's super regional between Auburn and Coastal Carolina will feature strong pitching and even tougher outs at the plate. The Tigers boast six players with .300 batting averages or greater while Coastal has five. Each team has two hitters with 50 or more RBI while Auburn holds the edge in batters with 10-plus home runs, 3-2.
Pitching wise, Sam Dutton will toe the rubber for Auburn in game one while Cameron Flukey gets the nod for the Chants. Both pitchers have ERA's lower than 3.90 and have struck out over 90 batters, which will challenge the bats of both teams.
Who sets the tone by claiming game one of the Auburn Super Regional? Here is a look at the latest odds from FanDuel ahead of first pitch.

Best bet, prediction
Auburn will look to set the tone by chasing Coastal Carolina starter Cameron Flukey early, but it will not be easy. Auburn will need to receive similar production from Ike Irish, Chris Rembert, Bub Terrell, Eric Snow, and Cooper McMurray as it did in the Auburn Regional last weekend to achieve that goal. Auburn gets the edge here because with those bats, and a strong relief effort by Carson Myers following Sam Dutton's outing, the Tigers should win a tight one in front of a record crowd.
Best bet: Auburn -1.5

Hugh Freeze is happy about Auburn's secondary depth

The Auburn Tigers return plenty of experience to their secondary this season. Fall practice is underway at Auburn, and a lot of attention is on the 2025 edition of the Tigers. Auburn fans are hoping for a big year that results in the program making strides in the right direction. The Tigers have had four straight losing seasons, which is something the faithful are not accustomed to. While there are questions around this football team, a position that the Tigers do have plenty of experience and talent is in the secondary. Auburn returns Kayin Lee and Jay Crawford at the cornerback position while Champ Anthony also returns to the Tigers after playing well in 2024 before suffering a season-ending leg injury in the Tigers' SEC opener with Arkansas. Head coach Hugh Freeze is looking forward to having Anthony back. 'We might limit some of (Anthony's) reps, but it gives us some flexibility because some of those guys can play multiple positions', Freeze said of Anthony as camp opened this week. Auburn also returns key contributors to both safety positions with Kaleb Harris and Sylvester Smith. Both players gained valuable experience last season playing as freshmen. The Tigers also added some depth to the secondary with the transfer portal and the 2025 recruiting class. From the transfer portal they added Raion Strader (Miami-Ohio) and Rayshawn Pleasant (Tulane) at the corner back position. At safety, Auburn added Taye Seymore from Georgia Tech and signed safety Eric Winters out of Enterprise High School. It is clear the Tigers will have depth in the secondary this season. 'You're glad you have more depth where you're not somewhat feeling like there's a drop off, when you do rotate people, or if you do have an injury," Freeze said. "I think every team at this level would be excited to have the type of depth that we do." He also acknowledged that, despite the depth, they do need to figure out who plays where. 'Now we've got to figure out what their seat is on the bus. Who are the best nickels, and who are the best safeties, and who are the best corners," Freeze said. "I know we have increased our speed and our depth. So that's exciting to us, and now we've got to figure out exactly all the pieces of where they go.' Last season the Tigers ranked ninth in the SEC last season giving up 213 yards passing per game. The secondary will need help, and an improvement in their pass rushing ability will help. As good as the group is, if the front cannot create pressure the defensive backs will not be able to hold their coverage. KeAndre Lambert-Smith impresses in 2025 Hall of Fame Game in Chargers debut

Former Tiger, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, made big plays in Chargers debut Thursday night. The 2025 NFL Preseason got underway on Thursday night with the annual Hall of Fame Game played in Canton, Ohio Thursday night. A big standout in the game was Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith. The former Auburn Tigers pass catcher impressed anyone who watched him play last season on the plains. He was one of the few bright spots for a tough season for Auburn that ended with a 5-7 record. In his one season with Auburn, Lambert-Smith caught 50 passes for 981 yards and eight touchdowns. He led the team in catches and yards. Lambert-Smith was tied with Cam Coleman for team lead in touchdown receptions. When he arrived at Auburn he did so as the top wide receiver in the transfer portal after playing at Penn State for four seasons. His production over his career resulted in being drafted by the Chargers with the No. 158 pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Lambert-Smith did not wait to impress the Chargers or the national audience watching the game on Thursday night. In the Chargers 34-7 win over the Detroit Lions, Lambert-Smith caught two passes for 43 yards and one touchdown. On the second possession for the Chargers, he caught a deep pass near the sideline for 28 yards from quarterback Trey Lance. While that catch did not result in points for the Chargers, the second one did. With 1:51 remaining until halftime, Lance found Lambert-Smith on a slant for a 15-yard touchdown catch. According to Pro Football Focus, Lambert-Smith was the highest graded offensive player from the Hall of Fame Game at 90. On Thursday night, Chargers fans got a glimpse at what Auburn fans already knew about Lambert-Smith. He is a big time player that will make big time plays at the next level. Veteran Caleb Wheatland set to lead Auburn's talented, young linebacker room

The Maryland transfer brings a wealth of knowledge to the Plains after logging 12 starts at Maryland. The Auburn Tigers' biggest question on defense this season resides within the linebacker room. Sure, the Tigers have plenty of talent with the likes of Demarcus Riddick, Robert Woodyard, Xavier Adkins, and Bryce Deas. However, neither of the aforementioned has more than three games of starting experience. In steps Caleb Wheatland, a senior linebacker who broke into a vital Power Four role last season at Maryland by starting 11 games for the Terrapins. He brings a wealth of knowledge to Auburn's young room, which made him an attractive transfer portal piece to head coach Hugh Freeze last offseason. Earlier this week, Freeze shared that Wheatland's starting experience, as well as his leadership ability, will be vital to Auburn's defense this season. 'We like our linebackers that we have, but it felt like the youth needed some experience. You go get a guy that started a bunch of games in Power Four football and is a really good kid and good player. You just felt like you needed somebody to add to that youth in that room. (Robert) Woodyard is still young, (Antonio) Melendez is still young, I think they are both going to be two really good Mike linebackers, but can we get one that has some experience. And that's what we have in Caleb.' Wheatland logged 100 tackles in three seasons at Maryland, with 15 tackles for loss and three pass deflections. He took a step forward in pass rush and coverage skill last season by grading out 72.2 and 74.4, respectively, according to Pro Football Focus. According to PFF data, Wheatland applied 15 pressures to opposing quarterbacks, four resulting in sacks. As a coverage man, Wheatland allowed 15 passes to be caught in 26 opportunities, giving opposing receivers a catch rate of 57.7%. Wheatland and Riddick will be Auburn's most experienced linebackers this season. As a freshman in 2024, Riddick logged 27 tackles with three sacks in 12 games, making three starts. He created 16 pressures last season, and had three games where he registered three pressures. In 239 snaps, he missed just six tackles, which makes him an efficient linebacker that will be sure to improve with more reps this season. Watch Freeze's opening press conference of fall camp below.
