Students urged to live drug-free lives at awareness meet
Addressing students of the Andhra Loyola College (ALC) at an awareness programme on 'Illicit Trafficking of Ganja and Drug Abuse', organised by the college, in collaboration with EAGLE on Thursday, Mr. Ravi Krishna said: 'You are the hope of this nation. Stay clean and fight the drug menace like a warrior. The courage to say 'No' today will shape your tomorrow,' he cautioned, warning against making poor choices in life. He encouraged students to become ambassadors of drug-free campuses and safeguard their future.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), NTR Police Commissionerate KGV Saritha spoke about the importance of community responsibility and vigilance in preventing drug abuse.
Superintendent of Police, EAGLE Nagesh Babu, urged students to report suspicious activities without fear and contribute towards building a safer society.
Director of CBS IAS Academy, M. Bala Latha, said that the students should remember that their minds are their greatest asset. 'Keep your mind sharp and free from anything that clouds your vision,' she cautioned.
Rector of the college Fr. P.R. John, founder director B. Bala and vice-principal G. Kiran Kumar also addressed students, emphasising the need to build a meaningful life rooted in ethical values.
Students who excelled in a certificate course on 'Narcotic Drugs: Awareness, Impact and Legal Frameworks' offered by the Department of Chemistry as part of the ethics and value education curriculum, were felicitated.
ALC principal S. Melchior, vice-principal B. Suresh and heads of departments of visual communication and chemistry Fr. G. Rayappa and K. Rayappa Reddy, teaching staff and others were present.

Punjab cop tries to bribe senior to get corruption case quashed, arrested
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Faridkot women's cell, Rajan Pal, has been arrested for attempting to bribe a senior official to get a corruption complaint filed against him to preliminary information, DSP Rajan Pal was investigating a complaint filed by Kiranjit Kaur, a married woman from Pakka village in Faridkot. During the enquiry, he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the Kiranjit's family with the promise of resolving the case. However, he reportedly failed to take any action on the matter even after receiving the situation escalated when the woman's brother, Karmatej Singh, submitted a formal complaint to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Pragya Jain, accusing the DSP of extortion. On learning about the complaint, Rajan Pal attempted to suppress the case by offering the same amount — Rs 1 lakh — as a bribe to the SSP's reader, ASI Jaswinder Singh. ASI Jaswinder Singh promptly reported the bribery attempt to SSP Jain, who immediately ordered an FIR to be lodged. The police then registered a case against DSP Rajan Pal under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the City Police Station and took him into custody.'The Punjab government has made it clear that bribery will not be tolerated under any circumstances, regardless of rank. A case has been registered, and the DSP has been arrested for accepting a bribe from the victim's family and later attempting to bribe the SSP's reader to suppress the complaint against him,' SSP Jain told the action has also been initiated against Rajan Pal in accordance with government directives.- Ends

District SP Launches Operation Muskaan-11 to Eradicate Child Labour and Rescue Missing Children
Gadwal: District Superintendent of Police T. Srinivasa Rao, IPS, has emphasized that all concerned departmental officials must ensure the successful implementation of Operation Muskaan-11, a prestigious initiative launched by the government to eradicate child labor. As part of Operation Muskaan-11, the SP held a meeting today at the District Police Office with officials from various departments. During the session, he highlighted the main objectives of the operation — to identify, rescue, and rehabilitate missing and child labor victims — and called upon authorities to move forward with well-structured and coordinated planning. The SP stated that police teams, in collaboration with departmental officials, would conduct raids across workplaces throughout the district to identify children engaged in labor. He instructed officers to register criminal cases against employers who exploit children and take strict legal action. He informed that special teams have already been formed for this purpose. These teams are tasked with identifying rescued children, ensuring their safe return to parents, providing counseling to families, and, in the case of orphans or abandoned children, transferring them to appropriate care homes. The SP urged citizens to report any instances of child labor by dialing 100 or 1098, or by informing local police stations. He also directed officials to review last year's rescue data under Operation Muskaan-10, to verify how many children were truly rehabilitated and how their lives have improved since. The SP emphasized that rescued children should be educated and supported during the process, and assured that Childline services would receive full support from the police at all times. Operation Muskaan is conducted annually from July 1st to 31st under the supervision of the police department, with support from multiple government departments to identify and rescue child laborers. The SP mentioned that under Operation Muskaan-10, conducted last year, many children were rescued from forced labor and reunited with their families, showcasing the effectiveness of the initiative. Committee formed to probe 3 Islamic shrines in Jaipur college
A committee has been formed to investigate the presence of three Islamic shrines discovered inside the premises of Maharani College in controversy erupted at one of the most famous colleges of Jaipur, Maharani college, after three shrines were found inside the college premises. It remains unclear when or by whom the structures were committee comprises Rajesh Jakhar, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Jaipur, Dr Priyavrat Charan, Deputy Commissioner, Balaram Jat, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police, Neeraj Tripathi, Superintendent of Archaeology, and UAE RU Subhash Bairwa. College Principal Professor Payal Lodha has also been nominated as a member of the Bharat Sharma, Chief of the Dharohar Bachao Sanrakshan Samiti, alleged that the shrines were constructed as part of a conspiracy by the Waqf to usurp the college land. Sharma urged the authorities to remove the shrines and warned of agitation if no action is committee has been directed to submit its report within four days.
