It's not just fire you need to worry about either
CARN'T STAY COOL Drivers warned to take three items out of car TODAY – & expert reveals best spot to leave them if you can't
DRIVERS need to be on red alert if they're leaving gadgets in their car today.
Fire safety experts have told The Sun that there are three items you must take out of your car as the UK basks in an ongoing heatwave.

Thousands of Brits flocked to beaches over the weekend, and Monday is set to be a scorcher – with temperatures rising as high as 34C or 35C in parts of Britain.
But as Brits park up to enjoy the sunny weather, it's important to remember not to leave gadgets in the car.
Fire experts named three gadgets in particular to be careful with.
"Most devices that we use every day, phones, power banks, laptops etc have batteries containing lithium-ion," a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service told The Sun.
"If exposed to high temperatures, they can go into thermal runaway, which is where they become volatile and can explode and start a fire.
"Although this usually happens if they are over-charged, being exposed to prolonged heat can also cause this."
HEAT HURT
It's not just a fire risk either: heat can damage your devices.
That includes permanently shorting the battery life of your smartphone.
If that happens, you'll have to charge your mobile more often – and there's no way to fix it other than by replacing the battery, or upgrading to a newer model.
'The interior of a car on a hot day is almost like a greenhouse, trapping heat and causing temperatures to climb high," the fire service told The Sun.

"Even if it doesn't lead to thermal runaway, prolonged heat exposure can also impact the performance of the battery and shorten its life."
CAR 'LAST RESORT'
The official advice is to take gadgets with you rather than leave them in a car.
But if you're pulling up at the beach and want to go for a dip, it can be difficult to avoid.
If there's no possible alternative, the fire service revealed one of the best places in your car to place a gadget as a last resort.

Placing gadgets under the seats is one of of avoiding letting them get too hot, experts say – but it's a last resort option and not as safe as bringing them with you

"We would always recommend taking any devices that you need with you and not leaving them in a vehicle," the fire service told us.
"If you do need to, think about where you park and try and find shaded areas.
"You can also think about where you leave the devices, for instance in the cooler parts of a car like under a seat."
But you're better off bringing your precious gadgets with you, if that's an option.
Why does heat damage batteries?
Here's what you need to know... Hot temperatures can cause permanent damage to batteries
That's because batteries contain fluids, and work through chemical reactions
When heat is applied to a battery, the fluid inside starts to evaporate
This damages the internal structure of the battery
Components like the voltage indicator can be affected by heat
This can allow batteries to charge at too high a rate, which can lead to a loss of electrolytes
This can reduce battery life over time
As batteries heat up, chemical reactions inside will also occur faster
Excessive chemical reactions can reduce long-term battery life
Britain is tipped to be hotter than Ibiza today, a holiday hotspot with a temperature of 29C forecast.
"It is a hot picture as we move across England and Wales, particularly towards the southeast where temperatures could be around 34C or maybe even 35C," said meterologist Greg Dewhurst.
He added: "The heat of the day could spark one or two heavy showers across eastern England as we move through the afternoon into the evening."
It means Wimbledon is set for its hottest opening day ever on Monday.

New iPhone ‘nudity-spotting' feature FREEZES video calls if someone strips off

The new feature is one of the many updates intended to help keep your child safe online NAKED TRUTH New iPhone 'nudity-spotting' feature FREEZES video calls if someone strips off THE NEW iPhone 'nudity-spotting' feature freezes video calls if someone strips off. The new technology is one of the biggest updates iPhone users have received in recent history. 1 THE new iPhone 'nudity-spotting' feature freezes video calls if someone strips off Credit: Reuters The new feature iOS 26 is a huge update for iPhone users and it's not all because of the stunning Liquid Glass design. During the premiere of iOS 26, Apple announced numerous changes to key apps like Safari and Messages, but barely mentioned the various quality-of-life updates. One of the updates that wasn't mentioned is FaceTime's new ability to freeze the audio and video in a call if someone starts taking their clothes off. Initially meant as part of Apple's children protection tools, that feature was discovered in the iOS 26 Developer Beta by iDeviceHelp on X. Protecting your children online Along with the iOS 26 announcement, Apple shared the many new tools and updated features meant to help parents protect their children online. Communication Safety was one of the updated features, which includes nudity detection in FaceTime video calls and Shared Albums in Photos. That feature is supposed to be only active on child accounts. However, it appears a similar feature is active for all iOS 26 Developer Beta users. Whenever FaceTime detects nudity during a video call, it freezes the audio and video of the call and shows a warning screen. There's then an option to resume the video and audio with one button or end the call. Apple interview with Greg Joz Joswiak on new artificial intelligence, screening, hold assist, carplay, liquid glass and ios updates There's no information about the circumstances under which the feature was discovered reports Phone Arena. Privacy concerns A feature that could detect nudity during a video call might raise some privacy concerns among users. However, Apple has a good explanation of how the current Communication Safety features work. In brief, Apple doesn't know anything about your calls because the whole monitoring process happens on-device. The full list of iOS 26 supported devices Sadly not all iPhone models are getting this upgrade but here are the ones that can. iPhone 16e iPhone 16 ‌iPhone 16‌ Plus iPhone 16 Pro ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max iPhone 15 ‌iPhone 15‌ Plus ‌iPhone 15‌ Pro ‌iPhone 15‌ Pro Max ‌iPhone‌ 14 ‌iPhone‌ 14 Plus ‌iPhone‌ 14 Pro ‌iPhone‌ 14 Pro Max ‌iPhone‌ 13 ‌iPhone‌ 13 mini ‌iPhone‌ 13 Pro ‌iPhone‌ 13 Pro Max ‌iPhone‌ 12 iPhone 12 mini ‌iPhone‌ 12 Pro iPhone 12 Pro Max ‌iPhone‌ 11 ‌iPhone‌ 11 Pro iPhone 11 Pro Max iPhone SE (3rd gen) ‌iPhone‌ SE (2nd gen) But, how many times have you answered the phone only to be met with silence, a spammer, or a sinister scammer? Probably too many to count. Apple has come up with a solution for iPhone owners called Call Screening in their new update. The feature works like Live Voicemail, a 2024 feature that transcribes voicemails in real time – giving you a chance to answer them. It also prevents scammers from being able to hear your voice and then clone it. Crooks can record you saying certain phrases, and even create AI "fakes" of your voice to use for future scams.

Car brand offering bungee jumps to potential customers

Up to 100 jumps are being offered free on a first-come, first-served basis. Aptly named electric car brand Leapmotor is behind the initiative. It's hoped the bungee jumps will inspire motorists yet to go electric to take the leap. There's a bungee ride in Scotland. On it, people are dropped into pitch blackness 😱 — The Random Guy (@RandomTheGuy_) May 15, 2025 Anyone brave enough to bungee will enjoy a full panoramic view of London before they jump. They'll get the chance to take in iconic landmarks such as The Shard, The London Eye, and The BT Tower in full view as they hurtle towards the ground. Damien Dally, MD of Leapmotor UK, said: 'The thought of doing a bungee jump will be quite a daunting one for many. 'But sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone and take a leap – like making the switch to electric. 'So, if you fancy stepping out of your comfort zone, please come down to Coram's Fields and say hello.' Leapmotor officially launched in the UK in early 2025 with its city car, the T03, and its family-focused SUV, the C10. The manufacturer has partnered with Stellantis, one of the largest car brands in the world, to distribute its vehicles nationwide at 46 dealerships. Recommended reading: The joint venture is led by 51 per cent stakeholder Stellantis, which has 130 years of history in the UK automotive sector. Damien Dally added: 'As for our pop-up dealership, we couldn't think of a more fitting way to launch our brand into the UK by helping Brits literally take the ultimate leap, a bungee jump from 160-feet-tall crane. 'Leapmotor is on a mission to be the best value EV brand in the UK and make electric driving accessible to everyone. 'It is clear many drivers are still nervous about making the switch to electric, but we believe our offering is the perfect first step into electric.'

Lewis Hamilton reveals the one thing he doesn't miss since Ferrari Formula One switch The seven-time Formula One world champion got used to working with a largely British garage when driving for McLaren and Mercedes (Image: Getty Images ) Sir Lewis Hamilton experienced a massive culture shock when he moved to Formula One team Ferrari - although he is happy he no longer has to endure the smell of curry on race days. The seven-time Formula One world champion got used to working with a largely British garage when driving for McLaren and Mercedes before making the switch to Ferrari in 2025, for which he now spends most of his time in Maranello, Italy. ‌ Lewis, 40, admits the culture is totally different with his Italian team making time for a lengthy lunch each day, but one thing he doesn't miss is the strong smell of spices and garlic on a Sunday morning, which was what would enter his nostrils because his British technical team and mechanics would always go for a curry on a Saturday night before race day. ‌ Ahead of the British Grand Prix this Sunday (06.07.25), Lewis made an appearance in London week to mark the grand opening of The House of Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0 and spilled about how his life has changed since becoming a Scuderia Ferrari HP driver to Nick Grimshaw. He said: "The Brits loved curry, my British team they would always have a curry so like on Sunday morning when they'd come into the race they'd literally stink, they all smelled of curry in the morning, garlic was just in our engineering room all the time. "They weren't passionate about food otherwise. Italians? Oh my God. There's literally a scheduled time in the day, lunch they can never, ever miss. Article continues below "Sometimes I go into the garage to talk to my mechanics, I'm like, where is everyone? They're at lunch. "I think they're the only team that does that!" Lewis has won the British Grand Prix nine times and been on the race's podium 11 times throughout his illustrious career. ‌ And despite having zero podium places so far out of the 11 races this season, Lewis is hoping for a "strong result" at his beloved Silverstone track. Speaking at a media day on Thursday (03.07.25), he optimistically said: "There is always magic here at Silverstone. "It is a very, very special race, and I am hoping all sorts of things can help us. I am hoping and praying. ‌ "I cannot wait for Friday. Driving a Ferrari at Silverstone for the first time will be special and unique in its own way. We have the best fans here, and for a British driver, they really do make a difference." Following Lewis launching The House of Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0, the attraction is open until July 5 and features a full schedule of immersive fan experiences with highlights including a pizza masterclass with 50 Top Pizza Europa no.1 Pizza Chef Michele Pascarella, and a cocktail-making workshop hosted by award-winning mixologist Federico Riezzo. Here, guests can learn to create pizzas and drinks inspired by Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The House of Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0 is located at The Stables, Covent Garden.
