Minister promises swift completion of Handri-Neeva works
The minister was speaking after inspecting the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) works at Dommanabavi in Thamballapalle constituency of Annamayya district on Friday. Accompanied by local MLA Shahjahan Basha, irrigation officials, engineers, and TDP leaders, Rama Naidu performed a ceremonial ground-breaking (bhumi puja) for the pending works and issued directives to expedite the construction.
Speaking to the media, the minister emphasised that the Chandrababu Naidu-led government is giving the highest importance to irrigation. 'We are committed to completing all irrigation projects in full scale to provide both drinking and irrigation water to the people,' he said.
He pointed out that while the previous TDP government had completed nearly 90 percent of the Handri-Neeva works, the remaining 10 percent was left unfinished by the former administration, leading to dry canals and unused infrastructure. 'Due to negligence, not a drop of water is flowing in the canals today,' he remarked.
The minister also criticised the past government's alleged mismanagement of sand at the summer storage points, which he said led to indiscriminate excavation and depletion. He directed officials to complete pending works at the earliest, particularly before the upcoming monsoon. The government plans to desilt tanks and restore their storage capacity to ensure rainwater can be effectively stored.
'As per the Chief Minister's instructions, we are focusing on delivering water to the last acre of farmland in Rayalaseema. This includes both drinking and irrigation water across the final reaches of the ayacut areas,' Rama Naidu added.
Officials of the irrigation department including SEs, EEs, and AEs, along with public representatives, local TDP and Jana Sena leaders, and several party workers were present.

KURNOOL: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his commitment to Rayalaseema's development as he released water into the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) canal from the backwaters of the Srisailam Reservoir near Malayala village in Nandyal district on Thursday. Later, addressing farmers, the Chief Minister emphasized that his vision is centered on providing a permanent irrigation solution to Rayalaseema to uplift the region's economy and restore pride to a land long plagued by drought and neglect. He said this initiative would enable farmers to cultivate at least two crops a year, a long-standing goal of his for the region. Key proposed developments for Rayalaseema include the completion of the Vedavathi project benefiting Aluru, Adoni, and Mantralayam constituencies; Rs 96 crore sanctioned for Ghorakallu repairs; Rs 36 crore for restoring the Alaganur bund; and plans to complete the Adavipalli reservoir to facilitate water supply to Chittoor through the Neva branch canal. He stated that just as water reached Kuppam this year, Chittoor too will receive water by next year. The CM recalled his personal connection to Rayalaseema, noting that he was born in the region and understands its hardships firsthand. He criticised past governments for neglecting the region, asserting that the TDP alone has consistently worked for Rayalaseema's welfare. He reminded people that it was NT Rama Rao who declared that Rayalaseema should receive water before Chennai, and that groundwork for major projects in the region began during NTR's tenure. Launching a scathing attack on the YSRCP, Naidu said that while the TDP invested over Rs 12,000 crore in Rayalaseema's irrigation projects, the YSRCP, during its five-year tenure, failed to spend even Rs 2,000 crore. He claimed that all major projects were completed by the TDP and criticised the YSRCP for neglecting them. He also shared his plans to transform Rayalaseema into an industrial hub by launching major projects, including a Drone City in Orvakal, Kurnool, and the establishment of the Rayalaseema Steel Plant in Kadapa.

Suggestions, recommendations pour in for VMRDA Master Plan 2041
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) received an overwhelming response from various quarters for its Master Plan 2041 as they submitted their suggestions and recommendations. Residents and public representatives made several suggestions and submitted their requests on the Master Plan to VMRDA chairperson MV Pranav Gopal and Commissioner KS Viswanathan here on Thursday. Government Whip and West constituency MLA PGVR Naidu (Ganababu), East constituency MLA Velagapudi Rama Krishna Babu, Nellimarla MLA Lokam Nagamadhavi, TDP former MLC Buddha Naga Jagadeesh, and city residents, made several suggestions for the master plan. Representatives of the Visakhapatnam chapter of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce requested that the proposed master plan roads should be developed on a priority basis with adequate parking facilities. The master plan roads should not be proposed in unauthorised layouts. The local people and traders submitted a petition stating that the proposed 45-mt road from Asilmetta to Maddilapalem should continue as it is. Otherwise it would affect business units and their livelihoods, they opined. Also, requests were made for the road from Anakapalli to Anandapuram via Gajuwaka, NAD, Maddilapalem, Madhurawada to be widened by 60-mt without any variations. Petitioners suggested that parks, greenery and spaces should not be allocated anywhere in the master plan, and they should be considered while drafting the master plan. CREDIA representatives submitted a request to widen the beach road, and similarly, the road from Sagar Nagar to GITAM. A total of 70 requests were received during the two-day programme, informed Pranav Gopal. He said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's idea was to bring in a transparent master plan after the formation of the coalition government. He assured that suggestions would also be considered for the master plan. Soon a white paper on the master plan will be released.

Telangana High Court quashes 2016 SC/ST Act case against CM Revanth Reddy
The Telangana High Court Thursday quashed a First Information Report (FIR) registered against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in 2016, then an MLA of the TDP, under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case stems from a complaint filed against him at Gachibowli police station by N Peddi Raju, Director, Razole Constituency S C Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society Limited. In the complaint, Raju alleged that at Revanth's behest, his brother, A Kondal Reddy, and others illegally trespassed onto the land in Gopanapally belonging to the society. He claimed they demolished a room of the society with an earthmover to occupy the land, and also abused the de facto complainant using casteist slurs. The case is currently in the trial stage before the Special Sessions Judge for Trial of Cases under the SCs/STs POA Act, 1989, and the VII Additional District Sessions Judge, Ranga Reddy district. In 2020, Revanth Reddy approached the Telangana High Court to seek the quashing of the case. The bench of Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya on Thursday allowed Reddy's plea. The court found that Reddy was not present at the place at the time as claimed in the complaint, and viewed that the case against him is not maintainable. Before the pronouncement of order, the counsel for the de facto complainant informed the bench that a transfer application had been filed with the Supreme Court. This application sought to have the case heard by a different bench of the High Court, alleging that the complainant hadn't been allowed to present their arguments fully. However, after delivering the order, Justice Bhattacharya pointed out several discrepancies. Justice Bhattacharya noted that the transfer application was brought up only at the very end of the hearing, after the matter had already been reserved for orders. Additionally, the bench observed that the application lacked a filing date, raising questions about its timeliness. The court directly addressed the complainant's contention of not being heard. Justice Bhattacharya stated that the 'case was listed before me on multiple occasions.' She further highlighted that the 'de facto [complainant] has submitted elaborate arguments, and submitted judgements in furtherance of his arguments as well; and the judgements find place in the order,' directly refuting the claim of being denied an opportunity to present their case.
