NC State Football Preview 2025: Can Dave Doeren and the Wolfpack Finally Win 10 Games?

Seriously? SMU played for the ACC Championship last season? The ACC didn't have a football championship until 2005, but NC State has the dubious negative of being one of two current ACC teams - Cal and Stanford don't count yet - that hasn't played in the title game.Syracuse, the other team that hasn't played for the championship, is relatively new, joining the ACC in 2013. NC State has been in the conference since 1953, and hasn't won an ACC title since 1979.

Instead, injuries were an issue, the lines struggled, and …There's a positive in all of this. The fundamentals of the NC State football program are strong.
Doeren hasn't stopped being a great college football coach. The lumps taken last year should pay off with a more experienced team, and with a great young group of reserves waiting in the wings. And the schedule isn't that bad - several Big Ten and SEC schools could only dream of having a slate like the Wolfpack will enjoy.Yes, one play here and there is what it's all about, but four of the seven losses were by one score, a fifth against Duke was tight into the final few minutes, and the two others against Tennessee and Clemson were blowouts against College Football Playoff teams.
But again, if SMU was able to figure it out and put together a special season, NC State can do it, too. It's way overdue to catch the right breaks, with four nine-win seasons and two eight-win campaigns in the last eight years. And it should be good enough to create its own good luck.So even if it would be nice for NC State to do a little more, over the 12 years under Doeren, assume eight or nine wins are coming, and you'll probably be right. What is Texas A&M football's overall raking in EA Sports College Football 26?

With mixed reviews from college football fans across the country, EA Sports College Football 26 officially dropped the top 25 overall teams in the video game that drops on July 10. Among those top-rated teams in this year's edition was the Texas A&M Aggies, who are the No. 8 program in the game with a team ranking of 88 overall. The school ranks as the fourth-best overall team in the Southeastern Conference, with Alabama ranked No. 1, Texas at No. 2, and Georgia at No. 6 in the official ratings before the 2025-2026 campaign begins. While Aggie fans are tired of seeing the team ranked high each preseason, resulting in disappointing results, the 2025 preseason just feels different. While EA Sports provided overalls for each program in the top 25, the company released the best offensive and defensive units in this year's edition. Texas A&M ranks at No. 12 in both categories with a 90 overall defense and an 89 overall offense. Here is the full list of team overalls in the 2026 edition: Team Overalls Much to the chagrin of Aggie fans, the rankings also faced much backlash from fans in the replies of the official drop, specifically regarding the game's top 10 teams. The Crimson Tide ranked as the best overall team is extremely generous considering the program did not reach the College Football Playoff last year and head coach Kalen DeBoer is in just his second season at the helm, with many questions about who will step up at the quarterback position. As you can imagine, those same feelings toward Alabama were made against the Aggies being at No. 8 on this list, after finishing the season with a loss in the Las Vegas Bowl to the USC Trojans. The ratings in the game will be adjusted accordingly to how the season progresses, however. With potentially one of the best running back rooms in the country featuring a healthy Le'Veon Moss, Rueben Owens and Amari Daniels, sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed and wideouts like NC State transfer KC Concepcion, the Aggies' offense could lead this team to become one of the best in the SEC this season. The 89 overall ranking is justifiable, but the concerns on defense leave me with questions on how EA Sports formulated the rankings. Regardless, the EA Sports College Football 26 video game will release in 13 days on Xbox and PlayStation. The standard edition is $69.99, with the deluxe and MVP editions costing $99.99 and $149.99, respectively. Michigan football gains 3-star LB Markel Dabney from SMU after secret visit for 2026 class

BREAKING: Class of 2026 LB Markel Dabney has Flipped his Commitment from SMU to Michigan, he tells me for @on3recruitsThe 6'1 210 LB from Richmond, VA had been Committed to the Mustangs since May 13'We just getting started, let's work #GoBlue' Recruiting is really in full swing for Michigan football now that we're getting to the end of the late spring cycle. While it took a while for the maize and blue to start garnering commitments, the class is starting to build and its getting bigger by the day. One place that the Wolverines have sought talent, somewhat fruitlessly (at least in terms of garnering commitments) is the linebacker position. There are several key players still left on the board, but Michigan quietly coveted one linebacker committed to another school who secretly made an official visit last week. The maize and blue were in the thick of it for 2026 Richmond (Va.) Huguenot three-star Markel Dabney, but Dabney made an unexpected pledge to SMU back in May. Brian Jean-Mary and the staff didn't give up however, getting him back on campus with the official visit. However, Pitt also got to be in contention for the three-star, so he opted to update his recruitment, noting he'd have a June 21 decision. That decision never came, as Dabney went on a cruise, per On3's EJ Holland. Once he returned, Dabney made his decision, and he ended up committing to Michigan football, making him the 15th pledge of the class. Here is the updated commitment list for the maize and blue: Dabney is rated a three-star across the board, but Michigan football has made him a priority target, much like it had eventual signee Chase Taylor a year ago.
