NC State Football Preview 2025: Can Dave Doeren and the Wolfpack Finally Win 10 Games?

Seriously? SMU played for the ACC Championship last season? The ACC didn't have a football championship until 2005, but NC State has the dubious negative of being one of two current ACC teams - Cal and Stanford don't count yet - that hasn't played in the title the other team that hasn't played for the championship, is relatively new, joining the ACC in 2013. NC State has been in the conference since 1953, and hasn't won an ACC title since 1979. X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFN NC State Offense BreakdownNC State Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to SeasonEven weirder, the school first started playing college football in 1892, and it still has just one double-digit winning season, going 11-3 in is one-for-one as a double-digit winning ACC program continues to be solid under Dave Doeren, with a team and schedule that were both good enough to have produced something fantastic. Instead, injuries were an issue, the lines struggled, and …There's a positive in all of this. The fundamentals of the NC State football program are strong. Doeren hasn't stopped being a great college football coach. The lumps taken last year should pay off with a more experienced team, and with a great young group of reserves waiting in the wings. And the schedule isn't that bad - several Big Ten and SEC schools could only dream of having a slate like the Wolfpack will one play here and there is what it's all about, but four of the seven losses were by one score, a fifth against Duke was tight into the final few minutes, and the two others against Tennessee and Clemson were blowouts against College Football Playoff teams. But again, if SMU was able to figure it out and put together a special season, NC State can do it, too. It's way overdue to catch the right breaks, with four nine-win seasons and two eight-win campaigns in the last eight years. And it should be good enough to create its own good even if it would be nice for NC State to do a little more, over the 12 years under Doeren, assume eight or nine wins are coming, and you'll probably be right. Auburn's Fralick, Rembert named Freshman All-Americans by Baseball America

Fralick and Rembert made early impacts for the Tigers, impressing the experts at Baseball America. The awards keep rolling in for Auburn baseball after their turnaround season. The latest players acknowledged for their 2025 season are freshmen Chase Fralick and Chris Rembert. On Monday, they were both named to the First Team Freshman All-America team by Baseball America. Both Fralick and Rembert were honored this season, along with Bub Terrell, on the Freshman All-SEC Team. Fralick played catcher for the Tigers in 2025. He was third on the team with a batting average of .335 and was fifth on the team with 41 RBIs. He played well in helping guide the Tigers to a Regional Championship. In the three games versus Central Connecticut State, Stetson, and NC State, he had four hits and one RBI. Fralick scored two runs in an 11-1 win over NC State to clinch the Regional Championship. Second baseman Chris Rembert was not only on the Freshman All-SEC Team but was also on the All-SEC Second Team. He was second on the Tigers with a batting average of .344 and third on the team with 72 hits. Rembert was also third on the team with ten home runs behind Ike Irish and Cooper McMurray. Rembert had perhaps one of his best games of the season against NC State with four hits and four RBIs. He had another four-hit game earlier in the season against Mississippi State in a 6-5 win on April 25th. Both Rembert and Fralick were huge parts of the Tigers' success, as they were one of the top seeds in the NCAA Baseball Tournament and hosted their first-ever Super Regional. The future is bright for both players and the Tigers. Contact/Follow us @TheAuburnWire on X (Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Auburn news, notes, and opinions. Football recruit takes ‘bum' dig at Bill Belichick after UNC signs someone else

Bill Belichick's UNC drama now has an added twist: recruiting theatrics. Keshawn Stancil, a top-10 in-state defensive lineman recruit, called out Belichick in an Instagram post on Sunday, taking a shot at the legendary coach's skills. 'I seen a bum commit to UNC,' Stancil wrote on a post accompanying him wearing NC State gear. 'Then Bill called. I felt played, so I went to the owners.' Advertisement North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick. AP It's not clear who the four-star lineman was referring to, but he did visit NC State over the weekend, one of five schools he announced he'd whittled down a sizable list to. Also included are Miami, Penn State, Georgia and Clemson. Even though Stancil may not like the Tar Heels and Belichick, others still want to play in Chapel Hill. Advertisement Currently, North Carolina boasts the fifth-best 2026 recruiting class in the ACC and the 20th-best in the entire country. Ironically, the Tar Heels' best recruit is also a defensive lineman, Trashawn Ruffin. The N.C. native is ranked 14th in the state. Belichick also had success in the transfer portal, landing the ninth-best transfer class in the country. He and New England split after the 2023 season and limited NFL interest drew him to North Carolina. Belicheck during North Carolina spring practice. Getty Images Advertisement That's not all that's changed for Belichick, as he arrived on campus with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, who has been at the center of plenty of drama in the weeks since his Dec. 24, 2024 hiring. His Tar Heels begin their 2025 campaign on Sept. 1 against TCU at 8 p.m. Stancil will get a chance to back up his smack-talk when NC State faces UNC on Nov. 29.

NC State coach Will Wade blasts ‘dumb' North Carolina for Ven-Allen Lubin usage

The post NC State coach Will Wade blasts 'dumb' North Carolina for Ven-Allen Lubin usage appeared first on ClutchPoints. The new NC State men's basketball coach is already causing a stir on Tobacco Road. Advertisement Will Wade took a shot at the Wolfpack's rival, North Carolina, in a video that surfaced on social media over the weekend. He was talking about incoming transfer Ven-Allen Lubin, a forward who played just under 20 minutes per game for the Tar Heel last year. 'The other school was too dumb to play him,' Wade said to a group of NC State fans in the video. 'When [Lubin] plays 28-plus minutes — he's done that in 23 games — he averages 15 [points] and eight [rebounds]. I don't know why the hell they didn't play him, but we're gonna play him. So he's gonna average 15 and eight. We're very excited about Ven.' When he suits up for NC State basketball, Lubin will be on his fourth school in as many years. He averaged 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds for UNC last year, and as Wade pointed out, he showed an ability to connect from three while at Vanderbilt, his second stop. He shot 33% from distance in 2023-24 but did not attempt a three-point shot during his season in Chapel Hill. Advertisement 'We're thrilled to welcome Ven-Allen to our program,' Wade said in a release when the school announced Lubin's arrival. 'Physically, he stands out with a wingspan over seven feet and a strong, powerful frame. Offensively, he creates mismatches — he can score over smaller defenders in the post and has the quickness to drive past bigger ones. He also showed the ability while at Vanderbilt to step out and be a weapon from three-point range and we'll look to build off of that. Wade also pointed to Lubin's efficiency. He shot 68% from the field last season on 5.3 attempts per game. 'He's an incredibly efficient scorer, having led his team in field goal percentage each of his first three college seasons,' he continued. 'Beyond that, he has a high basketball IQ and will be a tremendous presence in our locker room.' NC State and North Carolina are only scheduled to play each other once in 2025-26, in Raleigh. Will Wade loses NC State basketball commitment from big man after Ven-Allen Lubin signing

The post Will Wade loses NC State basketball commitment from big man after Ven-Allen Lubin signing appeared first on ClutchPoints. Will Wade and NC State basketball just lost one commit after a change of heart, with big man Paul Mbiya deciding to hit the recruitment trail again, according to Joe Tipton of On3. Advertisement Via Tipton on X (formerly Twitter): 'Congolese big man Paul Mbiya has decided to decommit from NC State and reopen his recruitment, source told @On3Recruits. The 6-11, 260-pound center boasts a 7-7 wingspan. The 20-year-old Mbiya most recently played with the French pro team ASVEL of the EuroLeague, a club owned by Tony Parker. ' It remains to be seen where exactly Mbiya will land next, but he should be able to garner plenty of attention, especially given his size and experience as a professional in France. It won't come as a big surprise if another ACC team will ultimately earn his nod, but other programs from other major conferences must have already turned their attention on him. In the 2024-25 season with ASVEL, Mbiya appeared in only a total of three contests and gathered just a point to go with two rebounds in eight minutes, but there is surely a big room for development for such a raw talent with great physical tools. Meanwhile, Mbiya's departure comes just after NC State recently scored a win on the transfer portal front with power forward Ven-Allen Lubin coming over to Raleigh following a short stint with the North Carolina Tar Heels. Lubin spent his junior year in the 2024-25 college basketball season with the Tar Heels, appearing in 20 games and averaging 8.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks while shooting 68.4 percent from the field. Despite Mbiya's withdrawal from NC State basketball, Wade still has a bevvy of newcomers for the Wolfpack, particularly via the transfer portal, which includes a couple of his players from the McNeese State Cowboys. Guards Alyn Breed and Quadir Copeland have both followed Wade from McNeese State to NC State, while former Houston Cougars forward Terrance Arceneaux and ex-Michigan State Spartans guard have also taken their talents to the Cowboys, who have made the NCAA Tournament in two of the last three seasons. Advertisement Before his NC State basketball hiring, Wade steered McNeese State to 28 wins in the 2024-25 season and led the Cowboys to a second-round appearance in the Big Dance — the deepest the program has gone into March Madness ever.
