Billy Joel: And So It Goes — a two-part documentary about the life and career of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician, is coming soon to streaming on Max.
Joel, 76, has been in the news lately after revealing that he's been diagnosed with the brain disorder normal pressure hydrocephalus, or NPH, leading him to cancel tour dates while he is being treated for the disease.
Joel, of course, is the rock and roll icon behind such classic hits as 'Movin' Out,' 'Only the Good Die Young,' 'Big Shot,' 'It's Still Rock and Roll to Me,' 'Allentown,' 'Uptown Girl,' 'A Matter of Trust,' 'We Didn't Start the Fire' and 'River of Dreams.'
The legendary singer, songwriter and musician came back after a decade and a half of not writing or recording any new original rock music in February of 2024 with the sweeping ballad 'Turn the Lights Back On.'
Warner Bros. Discovery announced Tuesday that part one of Billy Joel: And So It Goes will premiere on Max on Friday, July 18, and debut on HBO linear at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Part 2 of Billy Joel: And So It Goes will premiere on Friday, July 25 on Max and debut on HBO linear at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Max has three streaming packages available. An ad-based package is $9.99 per month, while an ad-free package is $16.99 per month. There is also an ad-free package with 4K Ultra HD programming, which is $20.99 per month.

Who Will Be Featured In 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes'?
Billy Joel: And So It Goes, held its world premiere earlier this month at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
In its press release announcing the release date of Billy Joel: And So It Goes Warner Bros. Discovery said that Billy Joel is interviewed in the documentary, as well as members of his band and fellow star musicians including Bruce Springsteen, Sting, John Mellencamp, Nas, Pink, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney.
In addition, Billy Joel: And So It Goes will feature interviews with Joel's ex-bandmate Jon Small, Joel's ex-wife and former manager Elizabeth Weber, his ex-wives Christie Brinkley and Katie Lee, his daughter Alexa Ray Joel and current wife Alexis Roderick Joel.
The official summary for Billy Joel: And So It Goes partially reads, 'The two-part film is crafted around in-depth, exclusive interviews with Joel, illuminating the key moments that forged his character and the events and muses that inspired his music for more than six decades.
'Exploring revelatory new territory and enriched by dynamic video and performance clips from Joel's musical oeuvre, many never before seen, the documentary gives a window into his process and chronicles his monumental successes, while diving into the hidden complexities of his life. From his childhood on Long Island, shaped by the absence of his father, to his first bands, the women he loved, and the colleagues and collaborators who both supported and betrayed him, Joel's decades of songwriting mirror his rich, complicated autobiography.
"Sharing origin stories about such chart hits as 'Just the Way You Are,' an ode to his first love, and 'Uptown Girl,' famously about second wife Christie Brinkley, the film points to the close symbiosis between his life and art, revealing the music that transformed his career, sculpted his legacy, and saved his life.'
Part 1 of Billy Joel: And So It Goes premieres on Max and HBO linear on July 18, with Part 2 debuting a week later on July 25.

Black Sabbath's ‘Legendary Lost Tapes' to be released for the first time
A collection of Black Sabbath recordings, from when the influential metal act was known as Earth, are set to be released for the first time. The four-piece, formed in 1968, were originally called The Polka Tulk Blues Band before changing their name to Earth soon after. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward recorded a series of demos in 1969 at Zella Studios, Birmingham, that were never made public. In the same year, Earth changed their title once again, this time to Black Sabbath, after their own song, which was inspired by Mario Bava's 1963 Italian horror movie of the same name. The news comes as Black Sabbath prepares to play their farewell show at Villa Park on Saturday (July 5). It has been announced that the tapes, titled Earth: The Legendary Lost Tapes, will be released on July 25 via Big Bear Records, although the band are reportedly not involved in the release. Jim Simpson, the band's first manager, has supervised the project. 'Before Black Sabbath, the band were known as Earth – a blues-driven powerhouse already making a name for themselves,' he said. 'This new release presents rare early recordings from that era, remastered from long-lost tapes.' He added: 'These recordings clearly demonstrate what fine music they produced right from the very beginning. We recorded these tracks at Zella Studio in Birmingham in 1969, but held back from releasing them as their style was evolving so quickly. 'Now, some 57 years later, the recordings assume a greater importance, illustrating how these four young men from Birmingham, barely out of their teens, were excellent musicians and a fine band, fully deserving of all the success that was to come their way.' On Saturday (June 28), Black Sabbath were awarded the freedom of the city of Birmingham prior to their farewell performance, which has been nicknamed 'Back To The Beginning'. Osborne, also known as the 'Prince of Darkness', has not played a full gig since 2018 as a result of his poor health. However, the singer has said he will be 'giving 120 per cent' as he prepares for the final performance alongside his original bandmates, whom he has not played with in 20 years. During an episode of Ozzy Speaks on SiriusXM, Osborne said: 'If my God wants me to do the show, I'll do it.' In February, fans expressed outrage over the 'ridiculous' price of tickets to the band's last gig, as pre-sale ticket prices ranged between £197.50 and £834. Tool, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins and others are all set to support the band at their last gig.

The Creator of ‘Squid Game' Has One Regret About the Show
The Netflix series 'Squid Game' is a blood-soaked thriller that focuses on impoverished contestants competing for a huge cash prize by playing children's games to the death. But the show's creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk said he personally doesn't like gore. 'I can't watch slasher movies, or anything that's too realistic of violence,' he said. Hwang referred to the bloodshed in his show as 'allegory.' 'Squid Game' is meant to serve as commentary on inequality, and Hwang even drew on aspects of financial distress from his own life. 'It's all symbolic,' he said.
