A thrifty man has revealed a simple trick that could help you jet off to your dream holiday destination without breaking the bank.
We all know the feeling of needing a break, whether it's from work stress, personal issues, or just a packed social calendar. And with summer on the horizon, many of us are starting to plan our holidays. But with living costs skyrocketing, a lavish getaway might seem like an impossible dream for most.
However, one money-savvy man has shared his secret to visiting your dream destination without emptying your savings. Bradley, who goes by 'Bradley On A Budget' on TikTok and boasts a following of one million, recently saved £500 on a flight and has shared his method.
The frugal 32-year-old decided to completely change his lifestyle after finding himself in debt to the tune of £104,150. Bradley manages to save thousands by eating the same meal every day - using supermarket own-brand products - and only owns one plate. He makes sure all his appliances are unplugged when he leaves the house and refuses to turn on the heating, no matter how cold it gets.
He also ensures he is frugal when it comes to trips and treats.
Bradley, the savvy traveller known as "Bradley On A Budget", was flabbergasted at the prospect of paying $1,070 [£801.38] for a direct flight from Connecticut to Wyoming that typically takes seven hours. He shared his thriftiness by saying: "Being Bradley On A Budget, I said that's stupid. I travelled a few hours to New York City and woke up the next day to catch my flight."
Opting for a smarter route, he grabbed a bargain train fare to New York for just $36.50 [£27.35] and then secured a slashed flight rate of $398.96 [£299] by flying from New York to Denver, Colorado.
Issuing his travel wisdom, Bradley advised: "Typically flights are so much cheaper if you fly out of major airports."
He also revealed how he dodges luggage fees by taking along a trusty large backpack that's been with him since his school days in 2008: "It's roomy so it fits a lot, but it's also squishy so it fits as a personal item," he added. Moreover, instead of shelling out extra cash for assigned seating, Bradley lets the airline pick his perch, saving even more money.
Further demonstrating his cost-effective ways, once in Denver, Bradley rented a car for a mere $99.80 [£74.77], firmly declaring: "I am sorry but I am not paying over $1,000 to fly when I know I can do it cheaper this way."
He capped off his savvy journey by enjoying what turned into "such a blast" and a mini-adventure, soaking in scenic views on a de facto road trip. "It was like a mini road trip within the trip," he enthused.
The journey, which included additional costs of tolls and petrol totalling £27.25, cost him a total of £428.22, meaning he managed to save £373.34 by opting for the more economical route.
Social media users were quick to comment on @baddie. brad's advice video. One person enthused: " Yes! I love flying into a major airport and then renting a car to drive to more remote parts!".
Another shared their own experience, saying: "I used to go to Wyoming for work and for real it is hundreds cheaper to fly into Denver and drive up," while another lamented: "That's crazy i was just in Wyoming and paid 1000 for my flight,".
One user was impressed by the money-saving tip, admitting: "My brain would never be this creative to save money,".
However, some pointed out that the trick only works if you have the time. One person noted: "He has so much time to use instead of spending the money. Some people don't have the time to save the money. Travelling for a cheaper flight, right there is where most people can't/won't be able to."
Another added: "While I get this concept my time also has a value and for me personally I would have to take it into consideration. I did a road trip to Florida over the holidays because airfare was too expensive."
One other questioned: "So like does your time not matter? Because sometimes spending a little more for your time is worth it".

Angry mum leaves Butlin's after 'beds wet' and daughter had 'poo on hands'

Mum Jasmine took to TikTok to share her disappointment with the accommodation at the Skegness holiday park. Butlin's has apologised after a family checked in to a "grimy" and "damp" room which was "in need of a massive deep clean". ‌ Mum Jasmine took to TikTok to share her disappointment with the accommodation at the Skegness holiday park. ‌ Sharing clips of the filthy room with her 19,000 followers, she said: "I could make a 10-minute video on all of the issues in here but here's some of them." ‌ Jasmine, who went on to give a tour of the room, added: "Even walking up to the room I felt grimy. This is the Butlin's comfort room. This is my sign to not blindly book something hahaha." As reported by the Mirro r, she said they couldn't stand to sleep in the room for more than one night as she showed dirt throughout, including in the shower and the bin. ‌ In her voiceover, Jasmine said: "I was meant to book the apartment but I didn't realise. When I first walked in there and I saw there's only two rooms and one bathroom in the middle, I thought, 'Where's the rest of it?'. "I am going to emphasise that was not Butlin's fault at all though to be fair - it was my fault. So anyway I don't know if the videos can do it justice because the smell when I walked in there was just absolutely wild. "This isn't the cleaner's fault or anything like that - it's the turnover rate is the issue. These rooms need massive deep cleans because a quick once over is not going to help." ‌ "I didn't even want to shower in there - in fact, I didn't shower in there. I ended up going to the swimming pools to have a shower. "We spent one night in this room and the beds were so damp - my daughter even woke up asking why the bed was so wet. "I can't explain the smell. I know I keep saying it but it was horrific. The mould was over the windows, there were cobwebs up the walls... This was a dead bug on our bed and then our daughter got poo on her hand walking out and I was like 'nah, that's it, 100% I am going.' ‌ "The stuff kids can do here is amazing though - I will not fault Butlins for that. It is just a shame about the room." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. This certainly isn't the high standards we expect our guests to receive when they holiday with us. We carried out a full reclean and offered a gesture of goodwill which was accepted.' ‌ Others shared similar experiences in the comments, with one person writing: "This looks so much cleaner than our room [laughing emoji]." Another person said: "Skegness I had the most horrible room haven't ever gone back. Warning to Brit tourists planning all-inclusive holidays to Spain

Holidaymakers heading to tourist hotspots in Spain have been warned by local police of a spike in robberies and thefts with criminals targeting all-inclusive hotels Brits heading on holiday to Spain this summer have been warned by police about a crime wave hitting all-inclusive hotels. ‌ Police have told tourists to be on their guard after a sudden increase in thefts and robberies from individuals and gangs who are targeting these types of locations. Authorities say that although all-inclusive hotels provide a wide variety of services but "safety is not usually among them." Through a video published on its official TikTok account, the Spanish National Police have issued an alert that highlights "a common and dangerous practice among tourists": neglecting their belongings while enjoying the pools and beaches of hotels. ‌ ‌ The message aims to raise awareness, without alarming, about the need to exercise extreme personal vigilance. "It is essential to remember that travelling to an all-inclusive hotel does not expressly guarantee protection for your personal effects in common areas such as the pool. Therefore, although it is a period to relax and disconnect, it is advisable to stay in control and take measures to avoid unpleasant situations that can spoil your holiday," say the police. All-inclusive holidays are so popular that areas such as swimming pools, bars and beaches within the hotel complex are frequented by a large number of people, making it easy for thieves to strike. Police say holidaymakers leave their bags unattended whilst they swim or enjoy a drink. They are urging tourists not to fully rely on the presence of private security, as there is not always active and constant surveillance in all areas of the hotel is not guaranteed. Thefts tend to increase especially on summer holidays in destinations such as the Costa del Sol, the Costa Blanca, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, where the influx of tourists skyrockets and security measures can be overwhelmed on certain occasions. Police say it is best to always carry your backpack or bag in front of your body, which allows you to view and control its contents at all times. Avoiding leaving personal belongings on the sand or in hammocks unsupervised is a basic tip but essential to prevent theft. Likewise, National Police say keep your possessions to a minimum when you go to the pool or beach. Take only what is necessary for bathing and staying in those areas. Valuables such as watches, jewellery or electronic devices should be kept in the hotel room, preferably in safes if available. In addition, when walking or moving through crowded areas near the accommodation, always keep your wallet, backpack or bag in a frontal position and under continuous surveillance. "Pickpockets take advantage of crowds to act quickly and discreetly, so a preventive attitude can make the difference between enjoying the trip or regretting material losses," they stress.
