Soler is hitting .207 with eight homers and 26 RBIs in 237 at-bats.
The Braves announced a rotation change for the series. Rookie Didier Fuentes, who is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA in his first two starts, had his start originally scheduled for Tuesday night pushed back to Wednesday. Right-hander Grant Holmes (4-7, 3.70) moved up one day to start the opening game of the series.

Kyle Schwarber's 2-run shot, grand slam powers Phillies to 13-3 rout of Orioles

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kyle Schwarber homered twice, including a grand slam in Philadelphia's eight-run sixth inning, and the Phillies pounded the Baltimore Orioles 13-3 win on Monday night. Schwarber finished with six RBIs, running his major league-leading total to 94 on the season. Schwarber's first homer of the game was a two-run shot deep into the second deck that tied it at 3 in the third. He heard 'MVP! MVP!' chants when he came to the plate in the sixth. Schwarber, the All-Star Game MVP, launched his NL-best 40th of the season into the right-center seats off Yaramil Hiraldo for a grand slam that sent the crowd of 41,099 into a frenzy. Harrison Bader homered for the first time since he was acquired by the Phillies at the trade deadline, a tiebreaking three-run shot earlier in the sixth. The Phillies added closer Jhoan Duran and Bader in trades on consecutive days with Minnesota. With his 102.5 mph fastball and electric entrance, Duran was an instant fan favorite in Philly. Bader made his case with a homer off Corbin Martin. Bryce Harper hit a solo shot for the contending Phillies, his 17th. Edmundo Sosa and Weston Wilson hit back-to-back homers in the eighth for a 13-3 lead. Phillies starter Jesús Luzardo (10-5) allowed a two-run homer to Tyler O'Neill and a solo shot to Jordan Westburg over six innings. Key stat Schwarber has reached 40 homers in three of his four seasons with the Phillies. He hit 38 last season. Up next The Orioles send RHP Dean Kremer (8-7, 4.27 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday night against Phillies RHP Taijuan Walker (3-5, 3.82 ERA). ___

Astros makes Marlins trade right after Carlos Correa reunion

The post Astros makes Marlins trade right after Carlos Correa reunion appeared first on ClutchPoints. Shortly after the Houston Astros brought back Carlos Correa, they scored big again. On Thursday, the Astros secured the talents of outfielder Jesus Sanchez from the Miami Marlins, per Mark Feinsand of In exchange, the Marlins received right-handed pitcher Ryan Gusto. As a result, the Astros got a left-handed hitter they had been searching for. Sanchez is batting .285 with 78 hits, 10 home runs, and 36 RBIs. The Astros are 62-47 and in first place in the American League West. Meanwhile, the Marlins are 52-55 and hovering in third place in the National League East. With the Marlins, Sanchez was known for his power hitting. In 2022, Sanchez hit a 496-foot bomb at Coors Field against the Rockies. It was the longest home run since 2020. Two years later, he hit a 480-foot home run in a losing game against the Cincinnati Reds. Even in defeat, it was an unmistakable gem. In essence, Sanchez's transition from Miami to Houston makes sense. Jesus Sanchez is a good fit for the Astros Altogether, Sanchez's talents are quite suitable for the Astros. Even though he is a right-handed hitter, he has found ways to hit from the left side well. In that way, he helps fulfill the void left behind by Yordan Alvarez, who's been battling a hand injury. Additionally, Sanchez is a flexible presence in the outfield. His primary position is right field, but he can also play centerfield and left field when given the chance. His power and consistency is a much needed asset to the Astros, even though his batting average is not supreme. Plus, Sanchez provides relief for third baseman and outfielder Cam Smith. Therefore, giving him a break from playing two positions. For the Astros, they are looking ahead towards the playoffs. As a result, Sanchez coming along meets the moment and could benefit them in the long run. Mike Trout HBP clears benches in Angels-Rangers game

The post Mike Trout HBP clears benches in Angels-Rangers game appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Los Angeles Angels (53-55) are hovering near the danger zone with the MLB trade deadline around the corner. If they are going to avoid dealing away players like Taylor Ward, Tyler Anderson and Kenley Jansen, then they have to overpower one of the teams ahead of them in the American League Wild Card standings. Of course, a successful playoff push is unlikely to happen if the franchise's greatest player ever is forced to go on the injured list yet again. Before the Halos earned an 8-5 series-clinching victory versus the visiting Texas Rangers (56-52) on Tuesday night, fans were subjected to high levels of stress. And it did not have much to do with the scoreboard. Right-handed relief pitcher Shawn Armstrong hit Mike Trout in the hand with a 92 mph fastball during the eighth inning. Zach Neto was just drilled by a pitch in the previous at-bat and also got plunked in the first. In total, the Angels incurred four total HBPs in the game. When Trout was struck in the hand, interim manger Ray Montgomery reached his breaking point. He stormed out of the dugout and directed some strong words at the Rangers' dugout. Four-time World Series champion Bruce Bochy did not take kindly to his fellow skipper's reaction and headed toward the field himself. The benches cleared, highlighting the tension and frustrations that were present in a sloppy yet important AL West clash. Ultimately, chaos was avoided. Can Angels end the drought? Trout went to first, loading up the bases for Los Angeles. Nolan Schanuel hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the team's final run of the evening, and Jansen inched closer to Lee Smith for No. 3 on the all-time saves list (needs 12 more to pass the Hall of Famer). Gustavo Campero and Yoan Moncada each recorded two RBIs. The Angels are now only four games out of the third and final Wild Card slot, putting general manager Perry Minasian in an interesting spot ahead of the July 31 trade deadline. Even if the team decides to add talent to the roster in an effort to make the playoffs for the first time in 11 years, this group has to stay healthy to accomplish anything meaningful. Mike Trout basically has a timeshare on the IL after missing 382 games across the previous four campaigns. Naturally, concern is going to be high whenever he gets hit in a sensitive area like the hand. Montgomery wants to protect his entire club, but he also knows how important the three-time MVP is to the Halos' postseason chances. Despite batting a meager .235, Trout is one of the squad's top hitters this year. He has 19 home runs and is slugging .464 with an .827 OPS in 82 games played. The 11-time All-Star is making an impact at the plate and carrying a steady attendance rate this summer. The Angels want to make sure that does not change. They will try to sweep the Rangers Wednesday night in Anaheim.
