Rapper BigXthaPlug arrested for possession after traffic stop in Arlington
Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug — born Xavier Landum — was one of two people arrested following an early morning traffic stop in Arlington.
At around 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, an Arlington police officer pulled over a vehicle with expired registration on North Collins Street, according to a news release.
When he approached the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana and asked the driver — identified as BigXthaPlug — and a passenger to exit, which they did.
Officers saw cigarettes and a green leafy substance in the vehicle's console, the news release states. They also found a handgun in the car.
BigXthaPlug, 26, was arrested and booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
The passenger, 22-year-old Cleodist Landum, had an active felony warrant from Bexar County, Texas. Police found marijuana on him, leading to his booking into the Arlington City Jail for the warrant, possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
It is illegal to carry a firearm while in possession of illegal substances in Texas, the news release states.
BigXthaPlug is known for songs including "Whip It," "Levels," "Mmhmm" and "Texas," which is RIAA-certified gold.

The duet with Winans was certified gold in 1996, so it took almost 30 years for it to shift another half-million copies. The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale's Smashes 'Run to You' served as the fourth official single from The Bodyguard soundtrack. It followed top 10 smashes 'I Will Always Love You,' 'I'm Every Woman,' and 'I Have Nothing,' becoming the last charting tune from that collection. Just a few years later, Houston was promoting the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack, which produced several other huge wins, including 'Count On Me.' Both were chart wins, but it's taken decades for them to become platinum successes. Whitney Houston's Other New RIAA Certifications Eight other songs by Houston earned new certifications from the RIAA at the same time as 'Run to You' and 'Count On Me.' 'I Will Always Love You' advanced to 11-times platinum after becoming a diamond smash in 2022. Houston is likely headed for another diamond win, as 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)' is now up to 8-times platinum, meaning it has moved eight million equivalent units. Other beloved songs from the superstar increased their totals, including 'I Have Nothing' (4-times platinum), 'Higher Love' with Kygo and 'How Will I Know' (both 3-times platinum), and 'Saving All My Love for You,' 'My Love Is Your Love,' and 'Heartbreak Hotel,' which all surged from platinum to double platinum.

How to Watch ‘F1,' the Brad Pitt Racing Movie Everyone's Talking About

Brad Pitt returns to the big screen in F1: The Movie, a high-energy racing drama bringing Formula 1 to the masses in the form of a summer blockbuster. Directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, the film debuted internationally on June 25 and is now playing in the U.S. as of today. Set in the world of elite motorsports, F1 follows veteran driver Sonny Hayes (Pitt) as he comes out of retirement to join the fictional APXGP team at the behest of its owner (played by Javier Bardem), his longtime friend. But it's no easy transition, as he clashes with the team's hot new rookie, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). Kerry Condon and Kim Bodnia round out the cast. In a unique move for a Hollywood film, Pitt and Idris performed their own driving on real circuits, filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends. To achieve a realistic effect, Kosinski and his team used miniature IMAX-certified cameras mounted directly onto the race cars. Pitt described filming as 'one of the most extraordinary' experiences of his career, adding in an F1 interview, 'It's really fun, it's exciting, it's adventurous, and you feel it. I do. I hope others do too.' Kosinski set out to make, as he told GQ, 'the most authentic, realistic, and grounded racing movie ever made.' Here's how to watch it. For now, F1: The Movie is only available in theaters. While Apple has not announced an official streaming release date, the film is expected to arrive on Apple TV+, based on previous Apple releases like Napoleon and Killers of the Flower Moon.
