R60k reward for third suspect in murder of IFP MP
Sithole was brutally gunned down at Buyafuthi Hostel in Katlehong last month during a ward meeting.
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Gauteng lieutenant colonel Mavela Masondi said they're offering the reward to anyone who come forward with information that can lead to the arrest and successful conviction of Zamani Ngila Ximba is wanted for the murder of IFP deputy chief whip, Khethamabala Sithole, and attempted murder of two other people at Buyafuthi Hostel in Katlehong on the 31 May 2025.
Masondo said the suspect is tall, dark in complexion and deemed armed and very dangerous.
'Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect is urged to call Major General Mbuso Khumalo at 082 556 8642 or Captain Abe Montoedi at 082 461 4794 Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or by using MySAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential.'
Meanwhile, the two suspects who were arrested two days after the murder of the IFP MP have abandoned their bail applications.
Khethakuthula Sithole and Nontando Ximba appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Thursday morning, 12 June, for their bail application.
The two are expected to return to court on 29 July.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that the AK-47 used in the killing of popular musician DJ Sumbody has now been linked to three additional murders, including that of Soweto-based Hector 'DJ Vintos' Buthelezi. All four are charged with DJ Vintos' murder. DJ Vintos was gunned down in March 2022 outside a nightclub in Orlando East, Soweto. Speaking outside the court, national police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the suspects were traveling in a BMW X3 at the time of the shooting. 'In relation to the Alexandra Magistrate's Court, the SAPS Political Killings Task Team, working closely with the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit, has brought two additional cases against the four accused who were previously arrested in connection with the Aman Sefoka (DJ Sumbody) case and the killings of his two bodyguards, Sibusiso Khumalo and Sandile Lemeza,' said Mathe. She said the firearm used, a single AK-47, has now been forensically linked to four murders. The murders included that of DJ Sumbody and his two bodyguards in November 2022, DJ Vintos in March 2022, Don Tindleni, killed in a BMW 5 Series on the N1 freeway in March 2023, and the Aman Sefoka case, as part of broader investigations 'What is significant is that one AK-47 has been definitively connected to all four murder scenes,' Mathe said. 'Beyond ballistic links, there is also overwhelming additional evidence that has been pieced together by our investigators.'

Saps probes officers after video shows police offloading beer bottles at liquor store
Gauteng police are investigating claims that officers sold seized bottles from a Saps storage facility. The South African Police Service (Saps) district commissioner in Ekurhuleni has ordered an investigation into members of the Duduza Police Station for allegedly selling empty beer bottles at a bottle store. A video recording is circulating on social media, showing Duduza police officers allegedly selling empty beer bottles at a local liquor store. There was speculation that the police were offloading alcohol at a bottle store. However, Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili clarified that the bottles seen in the video were empty and had been seized during operations at illegal shebeens. However, the members decided to sell the bottles at the local liquor store and deposited the cash into the police station's account. Internal disciplinary action 'Initial investigation suggests that there is cause to institute an internal disciplinary action because the decision to sell empty beer bottles as a form of disposal contravenes Saps National Instruction 8 of 2017, which outlines processes to follow when disposing of Saps 13 store items,' Muridili said. Earlier this month, the Saps initiated an investigation into a viral TikTok video alleging that a uniformed police officer was intoxicated while on duty. The North West Provincial Commissioner took the claim seriously due to its potential to damage public trust. Suspects in DJ Sumbody murder case linked to multiple unsolved assassinations
Four suspects, Katiso Molefe, Michael Pule Tau, Musa Kekana, and Tiego Floyd Mabusela, accused of the murder of Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, are now linked to a string of unsolved assassinations. The suspects appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for the bail application of Sandton Businessman Molefe. The court postponed Molefe's bail application to August 6. The three alleged hitmen – Tau, Kekana, and Mabusela – had previously revealed that they had no intention of applying for bail on July 22. According to police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, the South African Police Service (SAPS) Political Killings Task Team and Gauteng Organised Crime Unit have connected the suspects to two additional cases. 'Our investigations have now brought us to this point,' said Mathe. 'We are linking the AK-47, as well the three pistols that were found on the Armand Swart case, to the killing of Armand Swart, the killing of DJ Vintos, the killing of DJ Sumbody and his bodyguards, and to the Don Tindleni's murder.' All four accused face charges for the murder of DJ Vintos, while the three alleged hitmen are also charged in connection with Tindleni's assassination.
