Four revenue officials suspended over lapses in SC survey
Three officials — revenue inspector Ramesh and tax collector Peddaraju, working in HBR sub-division, and tax collector C. Sentil Kumar of Kengeri sub-division — were suspended on Thursday for not contacting residents, but pasting stickers on their houses that the survey of these houses was completed. On Friday, the BBMP suspended revenue inspector Kavita, working in the Vasanthnagar sub-division, for erroneous survey in ward no. 62, Vasathnagar.
In her suspension order, the BBMP said when the head office called up residents to cross-check on the survey in the ward, they found that surveyors had marked SC families from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu as 'non-SC households' during the survey, but included them as 'SC households' and uploaded their details on the app, when they went to paste stickers, creating discrepancies in the survey.

Head constable arrested for ‘kidnapping, raping' Dalit teen at gunpoint in UP
Police on Friday arrested a head constable for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old Dalit girl at gunpoint when she was on her way to school in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehgarh. The accused, Vinay Chauhan, posted at a local police station, was caught by locals while allegedly pushing the victim out of a car near her home after the alleged assault. Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar (ASP) said Chauhan has been suspended and a departmental inquiry was initiated against him. The accused was produced in a court and sent to judicial custody. According to the police, preliminary investigation revealed that Chauhan was in contact with the Class IX student over the phone. The victim refused a medical examination, and in her statement to the magistrate, appeared to support the accused. As per the police, the girl's father filed a complaint stating that on July 2, his daughter left home for school. A short distance away, the accused allegedly stopped her, forcibly pulled her into his car, and assaulted her. When she objected and raised an alarm, the man driving the car allegedly pointed a gun at her and issued threats. On being informed about the kidnapping, the complainant said he, along with his son and others, began searching for the girl. Later, they saw the accused pushing the girl out of the car. On seeing them, the driver tried to flee, but they blocked the vehicle with a motorcycle. Realising the situation was turning serious, the driver managed to escape leaving the car behind. The public caught Vinay and took him to the police station. Based on the father's complaint, an FIR was registered against Vinay and his unidentified associate under various sections, including gang-rape, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation. Charges under the SC/ST Act have also been invoked against the accused.

The adult accused were produced before the court, which has now remanded them to police custody for six days. Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar said that the prosecution team coordinated closely to present the case in compliance with legal safeguards, following which the special court was convinced by the submissions, allowing the continuation of the investigation despite earlier procedural lapses.
