United remain in the frame and Sesko is said to have told BOTH clubs he would be willing to join them.
The Old Trafford club, though, have failed to convince Leipzig that they can cut a deal with no official offer made.
And with Leipzig ready to agree terms with Newcastle - paving the way for Alexander Isak to join Liverpool if the champions can up their initial £120m bid - United are ready to look at two alternatives currently based in Amorim's homeland.
Amorim and United are looking at both Porto's Spain international Samu Aghehowa and Benfica's Greek star Evangelos Pavlidis.

NO SESK APPEAL Why Man Utd should scrap Sesko transfer to fix a MUCH bigger problem
Aghehowa, 21, born in Spain to Nigerian parents, is more similar to the aggressive and physical Sesko.
The 6ft 4in striker was previously known as Samu Omorodion before changing his 'official' name in honour of his mother.
He scored 27 goals for Porto last term, his first at the club after an effective £30m move from Atletico Madrid, when they acquired 50 per cent of his economic rights.
Aghehowa was previously targeted by Chelsea - who had a £34m bid turned down by Atletico 12 months ago - and Newcastle.

The two-cap Spaniard and Olympic gold medalist scored twice against Erik ten Hag's United in their 3-3 Europa League group stage draw in October.
United would have to buy out the entire rights of the player to comply with Prem and FA rules, with Porto demanding a total fee of £70m.
Bruno Fernandes branded 'proper captain' for his miserable trophy 'celebration' after Man Utd win Prem Summer Series
How the stats compare
Vangelis Pavlidis 2024-25, Benfica Games - 57
Goals - 30
Assists - 13
Samu Aghehowa 2024-25, FC Porto Games - 45
Goals - 27
Assists - 3
But Pavlidis, 26, who has 48 caps for his country, has proved his qualities with a series of impressive Champions League performances in his first year with the Lisbon club after his £17m arrival from Dutch side Willem II Tilburg last summer.
The Greek scored 28 goals, nine of them in the Champions League including a hat-trick in the remarkable 5-4 home defeat by Barcelona.
Bara were 4-2 down with just 12 minutes left before completing the stunning turnaround.
Benfica will ask for £52m for the 6ft 1in striker, which may be a better value deal as he is now coming into his prime.
