Oregon has just one defensive player in EA Sports' Top 10 defenders in latest game
It's true in real life, and it's probably true in the video game rules, depending on your settings and sliders, of course.
The newest version of EA Sports' College Football 26 is set to release next week, and in anticipation, the ratings for every player in the game have been published, including the Top 10 defensive players' ratings in the game and the country.
It's curious that only one Oregon Duck appears in the Top 10 as the Ducks are expected to have one of the best defensive units in the country for 2025. But it's hard to argue with the other nine players listed. Perhaps college football is becoming more of a defensive game right now, which makes it even more important to have a really good offense and quarterback, in particular, in today's game.
Here are the Top 10 defensive players in college football, according to EA Sports.

9. Keldric Faulk - Auburn Tigers

Son of Texas Legend Throws Longhorns Hat on Ground Before Committing to Notre Dame
Son of Texas Legend Throws Longhorns Hat on Ground Before Committing to Notre Dame originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Texas Longhorns fans went into Friday hoping to make three monster splashes on the recruiting trail only to be spurned twice. Advertisement Starting with the positive, the Longhorns were able to secure a commitment from the nation's No. 2 interior offensive lineman, John Turntine III. According to 247Sports, Turntine ranks as the No. 53 player in the country and the No. 7 player in the State of Texas, giving Texas six top-100 recruits. As for the not-so-positive, the Longhorns missed out on the No. 1 offensive tackle in the class in Felix Ojo at the last minute, as Texas Tech came swooping in with an offer that will see him earn as much as $5.1 million to be a Red Raider. While that one stings, it may not hurt as badly as missing out on the son of program legend Jermichael Finley, Kaydon Finley. The younger Finley even toyed with Texas fans, before eventually revealing he was committing to Notre Dame. Advertisement As seen during his commitment, the Aledo product picked up the Texas hat from the table and nearly put it on before tossing it to the ground. He then picked up Notre Dame's hat and revealed his pledge to Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish. It is certainly a massive addition for Notre Dame, which now has the No. 3 class in the country, according to 247Sports. Finley also marks the second in-state recruit that Notre Dame beat Texas out for, as the Longhorns were also in the mix for four-star running back Javian Osborne for the majority of his recruitment. Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Miron-USA TODAY Sports If there was a silver lining for Texas when it comes to missing on Finley, it'd have to be the fact that they brought in an elite group of receivers last cycle. They brought in two five-stars in Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett, while also landing the nation's No. 1 athlete, Michael Terry III. Advertisement Losing Finley may sting because of his father's connection to the program, but Texas has put together top classes seemingly every year under Sarkisian, so it's safe to say they'll live. BREAKING: Four-star safety picks Georgia over Texas in huge recruiting blow
Just five days ago, it looked like the Longhorns were in a great spot to get four-star safety Chace Calicut to commit to Texas. But that didn't happen. On Friday, the Houston North Shore prospect committed to recruiting rival Georgia. Calicut, who took part in the exclusive Rivals Five-Star Challenge earlier in the week, told Rivals analyst Sam Spiegelman his relationship with Longhorns CB coach Mark Orphey, who also went to North Shore, when talking about his recruitment by the Longhorns at the event's media day. "Mark Orphey came from my hometown school, North Shore. He coached there. He went to school there. He knows exactly how it is to be from Houston North Shore. And he knows how to fit me in with those guys. That's another reason why Texas is up there. It's the same thing with coach Steve Sarkisian. He really gets the players. He's more of a players coach and that's the type of guy I would like to play for." -- Chace Calicut Calicut took an official visit to Georgia on June 6, followed by Michigan on June 13 and Texas on June 20. On Friday, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound defensive back told Spiegelman he actually made his decision on that first official visit to Athens. "I made my decision down there at Georgia during the official visit," Calicut told Rivals. "The coaches always told me that when you're home, it'll feel right ... When I stepped foot on Georgia's campus, after I got a feel for the program, I knew it was the right spot. How could it get better? I don't think it can ... playing for Kirby Smart, at Georgia, at defensive back ... that's the best you can get for a long cornerback. If you wanna get produced, if you wanna go to the next level, you wanna play at Georgia." -- Chace Calicut Texas does already have three DB's committed to the 2026 class in safeties Jake Collett and Yaheim Riley and cornerback Hayward Howard Jr. Advertisement Follow us on X (formerly Twitter) at @LonghornsWire.
