Oman Airports invites foreign airlines to start direct flights to Sultanate
Engineer Ahmed Said Al Amri, CEO of Oman Airports, said that the company is currently discussing with the budget airline Wizz Air the possibility of operating direct flights from European airports to Oman, whether via the Hungarian capital, Budapest, or other European cities. He indicated that the company is very serious about launching these routes soon.
He added in a statement to the Oman News Agency: "Oman Airports is working in cooperation with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Sultanate of Oman to attract China Eastern Airlines to operate direct flights to Muscat, either via Shanghai or Guangzhou.'
He stressed that "Oman Airports" is making efforts to launch these flights and is offering them many incentive and promotional packages.
He explained that work is currently underway with LOT Polish Airlines to operate direct flights between Muscat and Warsaw, and that the Civil Aviation Authority is in contact with its Polish counterpart to officially open this route.
The CEO of Oman Airports also indicated that the commercial team, in cooperation with Oman Air, is studying the Vietnamese market and examining its potential and advantages.
Regarding passenger and airline traffic to Salalah Airport, he confirmed that this year has seen a significant increase in arrivals, both during the autumn season via local flights and direct flights from GCC countries, and during the winter season, which attracts direct flights from Scandinavia and Belarus.
Regarding Muscat International Airport, he explained that the number of passengers travelling to the airport is constantly increasing compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic, but there is some decline in the number of transfer passengers due to Oman Air reducing the number of flights and its fleet.
Engineer Ahmed Said Al Amri pointed out that the agreement signed by Oman Airports with Changi International Airport in Singapore to boost commercial and aviation revenues at Oman's airports will provide an opportunity to review all revenues, including aircraft parking rents and the use of hoses at Oman's airports.
He also noted that a memorandum of understanding was signed with a Malaysian company to explore development and investment opportunities for lands within the Muscat International Airport.

These teams include civil protection members, which inspect and ensure that tourist facilities and establishments comply with safety and risk prevention requirements. The ambulance teams provide emergency medical care at accident sites and ensure the rapid transfer of injured persons to healthcare facilities while water rescue personnel secure beaches and marine sites and respond immediately to drowning incidents; and mountain rescue teams conduct search and rescue operations in mountainous areas and difficult terrain to ensure rapid access to trapped and injured persons. The entire group operates according to well-prepared plans for protecting lives and property, in line with the Authority's goals to provide its services with utmost professionalism. The Authority expects visitors to follow safety procedures, and avoid approaching dangerous areas, such as valleys during weather fluctuations, and refrain from crossing wadis or camping in unsafe areas, to ensure their own safety and that of their families. Tender floated for Nizwa-Bahla dual carriageway project
Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology clarified that the Nizwa-Bahla Dual Carriageway Project, for which the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority has announced a tender, involves doubling the existing road from the Daris Roundabout in the Wilayat of Nizwa to the Jabrin area in the Wilayat of Bahla, within Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, with a total length of 40 kilometres. The ministry noted that the project includes the installation of two traffic signals near Bahla Souq (market), 10 roundabouts at various locations along the route, and several pedestrian and vehicle tunnels in commercial and high-traffic areas. It emphasised that the design ensures functionality in all weather conditions. The ministry stated that the project is expected to enhance traffic flow, strengthen social connectivity, reduce traffic accidents, and boost commercial, economic and tourism activity.

CBO announces auction results of 75th GDB Issue
Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman on Tuesday announced the Auction results of the 75th Government Development Bonds (GDB) issue worth OMR72.70 million. According to a media release issued by CBO's Market Operations Department, the 75th GDB Issue, which received overwhelming response from investors, has received applications amounted to OMR150,779,300. The average yield was 4.28 percent at an equivalent price of OMR100.055, while the highest yield was 4.30 percent at an equivalent price of OMR100.000 and the lowest was at 4.10 percent at an equivalent price of OMR100.560. The three-year Bond will be issued on Thursday (24 July 2025) and it will mature on 24 July 2028, carrying a coupon rate of 4.30% per annum.
