New York Jets place former FSU star on PUP list
The New York Jets have placed edge Jermaine Johnson on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. He will be able to attend meetings and use the team facilities, but is not allowed to practice while on the PUP List and he can be activated at any point once he is ready.
Johnson is recovering from a torn Achilles that he suffered on Sept. 15 in their game against the Tennessee Titans. He took to social media to share that his recovery is going well and they "want to move slow."
"I will be on PUP because the team wants to move slow to be safe, which I agree with. Not because I'm not ready. All is well," he wrote.
He is entering his fourth year with the Jets after they took him with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He made the 2023 Pro Bowl after making 55 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, defending seven passes, and returning one interception for a touchdown. He has played in 33 games and made 19 starts, recording 88 tackles, 10.0 sacks, 15.0 tackles for loss, and 21 quarterback hits.
He also shared a video of himself working out on the field, where he was able to run and execute some drills.

Damani Leech pushes back on Broncos stadium rumors: No decision yet
A few weeks ago, it felt like the Denver Broncos might be nearing a stadium announcement. News broke that the club had been buying up properties around Burnham Yard (a potential stadium site), and Mayor Mike Johnston hinted to the Denver Post that more news was on the way. Not so fast, says team president Damani Leech. '[We're] certainly aware of all the media coverage here recently," Leech told reporters at Saturday's training camp practice. "We share in the excitement and interest that it's generated among the fans. We appreciate it. It's good for us to learn what some of the fans say and hear in response to some of those media reports. But, no, I wouldn't say any decision is made. "It's a very comprehensive, long-term process that we're going through. We're trying to be very deliberate about it. [There's] still no determination about whether it's a new stadium or whether it's a renovation or the location that it's in, a lot of work to go there.' But what about those hints from Mayor Johnston? 'Certainly, respect the excitement and enthusiasm of the mayor," Leech said. "He's a big fan of the Broncos, whether it's coming to games... But also, I think both the mayor and governor have been sincere in wanting to do what's right for the Broncos. They understand the role the Broncos play in this community. So, I've had very good conversations with them. "That being said, we're not going to put a timetable on it. This is a 30-, 40-, 50-year decision that we don't want to rush by a matter of weeks here or there. We're going to continue to do our due diligence until we feel like we're in a position to make the right decision.' There's been widespread speculation that the team might be zeroing in on Burnham Yard, but Leech pushed back on the notion of any one location being the favorite. 'We have not made any decisions about preferred sites," Leech said. "What you've heard from us is really at a city level, so city conversations, city viewing, Denver, Aurora, Lone Tree. Beyond that the levels and details there, no decisions have been made.' So the latest update is ... there is no update. Leech says the Broncos still haven't even determined if they will leave their current location at Empower Field at Mile High. It takes years to build a stadium, though, and the lease at the current stadium runs through the 2030 season. So the team might not be ready to make an announcement yet, but a decision has to be coming before too long. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Cowboys QB Joe Milton III takes shot at Patriots in team comparison
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton III, who was traded by the New England Patriots back in April, noted one key difference between the two teams was in the quarterback room. He called Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott a "great leader" and noted that the veteran goes out of his way to help him behind the scenes. The 2024 sixth-round draft pick also said that he's been in "another building" where things were different. It seemed like a direct shot at the Patriots. "Dak is a great leader. He literally goes out of his way to help me, no matter if the coach is talking in the meeting," Milton said, via "... I've been in another building. I know how that goes. It's just very different over here." Milton was drafted to the Patriots behind Drake Maye, who was the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. The Patriots also had veteran Jacoby Brissett at quarterback, leaving Milton as the No. 3 option on the depth chart. Milton got most of the snaps in the Patriots' finale against the Buffalo Bills last season. Granted, the Bills rested most of their starters for the playoffs, but Milton went 22-of-29 passing for 241 yards and one touchdown. He also recorded a rushing touchdown in the game. Milton's comments are interesting considering Brissett was in the quarterback room in New England. There wasn't much he could have learned at the time from Maye, who was one of the youngest quarterbacks in the league. With that said, Prescott is a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback with nearly 10 years of NFL experience. We'll see if that success rubs off on Milton, who looks to be the No. 2 option at quarterback for the Cowboys. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.
