PEP GUARDIOLA has said he is going to "stop" after he leaves Manchester City as he refused to rule out retiring from management.
Guardiola, 54, has been with Man City since 2016 and signed a contract extension with the club last November keeping him at the Etihad until 2027.
But the Spanish manager, who is widely thought to be one of the greatest of all time, could call it quits when that contract does come to an end.
Guardiola admitted that he needs a break from the technical area when he does leave City, having started his managerial career some 18 years ago.
He told ESPN Brazil: "I want people to remember me however they want.
"After my contract with City, I'm going to stop. I'm sure. I don't know if I'm going to retire, but I'm going to take a break. How I want to be remembered, I don't know.
"All coaches want to win so we can have a memorable job, but I believe that the fans of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City had fun watching my teams play.
"I don't think we should ever live thinking about whether we're going to be remembered.
"When we die, our families cry for two or three days and then that's it, you're forgotten. In the careers of coaches, there are good and bad ones, the important thing is that the good ones are remembered for longer.
"I'll tell you that the most important thing is not what people think of you. After all, our lives as footballers have been very good.

"There are new challenges as a coach. I don't know what will happen in the future and in the end that doesn't matter."
However, the City boss hasn't ruled out extending his stay in Manchester even further than his current 2027 terms.
Probed on his comments on Sky Sports, he said: "When I finish my time here, one year, two years, three years, five years, six years."
Guardiola has won 18 trophies as Man City boss, and has amassed 40 major titles across his reigns with City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Amongst those honours are six Premier League titles, three La Liga titles, three Bundesliga titles, 10 domestic cups and three Champions Leagues.
As well as guiding teams to success as a collective, he has also been recognised as the World's Best Coach by Fifa on three separate occasions.
Guardiola has made history on multiple occasions too, icluding leading Man City to four consecutive Prem titles and becoming the first manager to see his side rack up over 100 points in a single Prem campaign.
City have had an uncharacteristic season this term, falling away from title contention early and finding themselves in a battle for European football.
However, they have still managed to earn a spot in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace - an opportunity for Guardiola's third FA Cup success.
Discussing the blow-par campaign, which saw City embark on a run of just one win in 13 games this winter, Guardiola said: "It was a year of great learning.
"There is not just one reason why this year was difficult, there are many details, like wrong decisions made for me. So, it has been a year of great learning for me, personally.
"People think we learn more from defeats than from victories. But I also think I learn from victories.
"I knew there would be a moment when we would fall, but we fell a lot. We didn't expect to be so far, but we can't win them all.
'What we did during 10, nine years was exceptional, but now we have to sit down and learn to try to understand what we need to produce in the future."

The burning Celtic and Rangers questions answered as the Saturday Jury looks at the seismic issues

The Ibrox side have taken a step closer to the big time but the Hoops are still on the lookout for reinforcements to boost chances Will Rangers go all the way to the Champions League group stage? SCOTT BURNS: The reality is Rangers should be beating Viktoria Plzen. Hearts shouldn't have lost to them last year. I would expect Rangers to get to the play-off round and then it comes to the luck of the draw. ‌ SCOTT MCDERMOTT: They've given themselves a real chance with victory over Panathinaikos. I expect them to see off Plzen and set up a mouth-watering play-off. If they can avoid Benfica or Club Brugge in that they can defy the odds and make it. ‌ MICHAEL GANNON: The Champions League dream is on. Plzen shouldn't be underestimated but Rangers can see them off and have a right good go at it. There's nothing lose as the Europe League is in the bag and anything from here is a major bonus. ‌ Would Rangers be better developing their own players than signing young Premier League talent on loan? SCOTT BURNS: Ideally that is where they want to get to. Russell Martin had it got a bottom-less pit and so if a loan can fill a gap then by not do it? SCOTT MCDERMOTT: That depends on how good the Premier League prospect is. In the case of Mikey Moore, Rangers have no-one in their academy who's even close to his level so if the opportunity is there to get someone of his ability, they have to take it. MICHAEL GANNON: Rangers need to build for the future but they also need to sort out the here and now. Young players at the club – and at any club – should use these kids of moves as motivation. If they are good enough they'd be in the team. It's up to them to break through. Has Celtic's slow window put their Champions League hopes in danger? SCOTT BURNS: It all depends on the draw. They might still have enough to get through. I just don't get why Celtic always leave a lot of their business to closer to the end of the window. SCOTT MCDERMOTT: It certainly won't help. We seem to say it every year with the Old Firm, in terms of them not being ready for these crucial Euro qualifiers. ‌ Brendan Rodgers clearly isn't happy with his squad – for that to be the case so soon before the Champions League tie isn't ideal. MICHAEL GANNON: They've taken a major gamble. They've had two windows to prepare for this clash so to go in with a squad in weaker shape while having money in the bank is such an unnecessary risk. Who will be the Premiership surprise packages this season? SCOTT BURNS: What is a surprise package? I would expect all the big city clubs to make up the top five and Dundee United or St Mirren to complete the top six. SCOTT MCDERMOTT: I'll go with Falkirk. Expect John McGlynn's team to excite and bring something different to the league. There might just be a single top six spot up for grabs beneath the big five and the Bairns can compete for it along with the likes of Dundee United and St Mirren. MICHAEL GANNON: David Martindale's Livingston are going to be a major nuisance to teams again this season. The Lions have a good blent of muscle and ability – with a top boss to boot – and no one is going to enjoy going to Almondvale

James Magnussen on the huge mistake Aussie men make with their health

Aussie men are ticking time bombs, with Olympian James Magnussen revealing he made a mistake that is all too common and can lead to real health issues. Magnussen. 34, is a retired Australian sprinter who won gold in the men's 100 metre freestyle at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships in Shanghai and again in 2013 at Barcelona. He also earned a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the 100 metre freestyle, finishing just 0.01 seconds behind Nathan Adrian. He formally retired from competitive swimming on June 5, 2019 at the age of 28, concluding a career that yielded 15 or more major international medals . Magnussen announced in early 2024 that he would come out of retirement to compete in the Enhanced Games, aiming to break the 50‑metre freestyle world record for a $1million prize. He admitted using performance‑enhancing drugs to transform his physique in preparation for the event. But prior to that, he was required to undergo a full medical examination, something he described as 'scary' because he hadn't done one since he retired from professional swimming. 'I hadn't done a blood test in seven years to know what my testosterone levels were,' Magnussen told The 28 Year Old Male podcast. 'Turns out they were pretty normal before I did the thing, smack bang in what was normal for testosterone levels. 'But I hadn't tested them in seven years since I'd been an athlete. 'I actually had to do a full health screening before I started the games. Heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, all these things. 'There was a little bit of nervous energy from me when I got the test done because I was like 'oh I haven't been sick much, but I've definitely enjoyed life'. 'I was like 'how is my body holding up? What effects has sport or has life generally had on my body? And I healthy?'. 'Cause I actually don't know.' Magnussen is not alone. According to Australian Government statistics, approximately 60 per cent of Australian men do not regularly engage in health check-ups - particularly those aged 18-44. He said it was vital for Aussie men to buck that trend and get to the doctor, to detect and get ahead of underlying issues before they became a major problem. 'When you look at it, and it stares you back in the face of this is where your health is at, this is a full picture of your health,' he said. 'It's OK, now I know what I need to improve or change or do anything like that. 'But as guys, most of us wait until we're sick or wait until something goes wrong and then you go to the doc. 'They will go 'oh you know, you've got this underlying issue that's been there for years but you just never had a checkup'. 'It's a good lesson for all guys out there,' he said. 'I've actually said to a few of my mates since I got back, I'd never had any of this testing done, but you should probably go see a doctor and get this, just to know where you are at. 'It's probably not a bad point in your mid thirties or your late thirties to not know what's going on.'

Neither club has commented on the matter. Son Heung-min set for Tottenham farewell Heung-Min Son has announced his intention to leave the Club at a press conference alongside Thomas Frank in Seoul. — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 2, 2025 Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has revealed he will leave the club this summer. Son has spent the last decade at Spurs and achieved his goal of silverware in May when he helped them to Europa League success with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. It ended a 17-year trophy drought for the club and South Korea captain Son explained his decision to target a 'fresh challenge' during a press conference in his home country ahead of Tottenham's pre-season friendly with Newcastle on Sunday. After Spurs arrived in Seoul on Friday, Son – following a remarkable 454 appearances and 173 goals for the north London club – confirmed his desire to depart this summer, with MLS outfit Los Angeles FC leading the race for his signature, the PA news agency understands. Son told a press conference: 'Before we start, I wanted to say I have decided to leave the club this summer. 'Respectfully, the club is helping me with this decision. Talks between Tottenham and Bayern got under way on Thursday and PA understands an agreement was reached with Palhinha given the green light to undergo a medical ahead of the proposed move. Lockyer nears football return Former Luton captain Tom Lockyer has revealed he is 'four weeks away' from being allowed to play football again. Lockyer has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest during Luton's Premier League game against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in December 2023, while he collapsed on the field just seven months earlier during the Hatters' Sky Bet Championship play-off final win at Wembley against Coventry. Lockyer, speaking ahead of Luton's opening Sky Bet League One fixture against AFC Wimbledon at Kenilworth Road, told Sky Sports: 'I haven't had a break, I've been working all the way through, just trying to get this ankle right and trying to get fit. 'But I've had a really good few weeks and hopefully now I'm four weeks away from getting signed off and told I'm allowed to play football again.' Saints want more for Dibling Tyler Dibling caught the eye at Southampton last season (Adam Davy/PA) Everton are looking to sign Tyler Dibling but are well below Southampton's current valuation, the PA news agency understands. The 19-year-old caught the eye during his breakthrough campaign, scoring four goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for the relegated side. A number of Premier League clubs have tracked Dibling's progress and Everton have seen an initial approach in the region of £27million rejected by the Championship club. The Toffees are reportedly ready to make another move for the England Under-21s international, but PA understands Saints want in excess of £40m for the academy graduate. What's on today? Luton edged out AFC Wimbledon on Friday night (Adam Davy/PA) After Luton edged out AFC Wimbledon on Friday night, Sky Bet League One gets in full swing with 10 fixtures while there is a full League Two programme.
