The footage was released on Tuesday, July 8Bodycam footage of Mary Lou Retton's arrest appears to show the five-time Olympic Champion gymnast telling police officers she was 'West Virginia's First Daughter' as she entered a police station in Fairmont, W.V.
The footage, which was released Tuesday, July 8, shows Retton's May 17 encounter with police.
This comes after officers responded to reports of a Porsche with a Texas license plate driving "all over the roadway" near downtown Fairmont, according to court documents obtained and reviewed by WDTV.
Retton, 57, was allegedly spotted in her car in a parking lot with a screw-top bottle of wine in her passenger seat, the Associated Press reported, citing a criminal complaint.
Police claimed Retton was slurring her words while speaking with them at the scene and refused to have her blood tested for alcohol.
In the footage obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the Dancing with the Stars alum appeared to struggle to complete a sobriety test, which required her to put her foot up six inches off the ground, and count until instructed by the officer to stop.

At one point, she seemed to have trouble breathing and had to use an oxygen apparatus. Retton suffered a serious bout of pneumonia in 2023 and told PEOPLE in 2024 that doctors had told her four daughters she might not make it.She was then transported to the police station where she could be heard stating to one of the officers: 'He's too young to know who I am.'
'I know who you are,' the officer responded.
'I know you know who I am,' Retton responded. 'Come on.'
'I got to do my job no matter who you are,' the officer said.
'I'm West Virginia's First Daughter,' she said.
Retton entered a no contest plea to a non-aggravated DUI charge and was given a $100 fine — standard for first-time, non-aggravated offenses in the area.
In a statement after the arrest, Retton said, "What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry," she said through her attorney Edmund J. Rollo.

Ex-NBA player Ben McLemore sentenced to over 8 years in prison for rape

Associated Press PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon judge on Wednesday sentenced former NBA player Ben McLemore to over eight years in prison, a week after a jury found him guilty of raping a woman at a 2021 party at the home of a then-teammate. The ex-Portland Trail Blazer was sentenced to 100 months in prison by Clackamas County Circuit Court Judge Michael Wetzel, Portland TV station KGW reported. The jury last week found the 32-year-old guilty of rape, unlawful sexual penetration and one count of sexual abuse. He was found not guilty on another count of sexual abuse. The charges involved a 21-year-old woman and stemmed from a party at a home owned by then-teammate Robert Covington in the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego. During the trial, Clackamas County prosecutors described the sexual encounter as rape. The defense argued it was consensual sex. The woman testified that she was incapacitated due to alcohol, and was unable to consent, KGW reported. McLemore said he had also been drinking but testified that it was consensual. McLemore, who played college at Kansas, was the seventh pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. He also played for Memphis, Houston and the Los Angeles Lakers before his last NBA season with Portland in 2021-2022. Since then, he has played professionally overseas in Europe, China and Turkey. recommended Item 1 of 3

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti sentenced to one-year jail term in Spain over tax fraud

Associated Press MADRID (AP) — A Spanish court on Wednesday sentenced Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti to a one-year prison term for tax fraud when he was Real Madrid manager in 2014. The Madrid court also fined Ancelotti €386,000 ($452,187). Spanish prosecutors accused Ancelotti of defrauding the state of 1 million euros ($1 million) in 2014 and 2015. State prosecutors sought a prison sentence of up to four years and nine months on two counts of tax fraud. In March 2024, they accused Ancelotti of having used shell companies to hide his true earnings. Prosecutors claimed Ancelotti, for example, used one company that lacked 'any real (economic) activity' in the Virgin Islands as part of an alleged scheme. Carlos Sanchez, Ancelotti's press officer, told The Associated Press that the coach 'will not make comments for now.' Brazil's soccer confederation said in a statement that it was following the case. The Italian coach is the latest in a string of major soccer profiles to face a crackdown by Spanish authorities over unpaid taxes, although none have actually been sent to prison so far. That list includes star players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Jose Mourinho, another former Madrid coach. In Spain a judge can suspend a sentence of less than two years for first-time offenders. Brazil's soccer confederation did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Ancelotti, who turns 67 on Thursday, is one of soccer's most successful coaches. He is the only coach to have won the Champions League five times, three with Madrid and twice with AC Milan, and the only coach to have won domestic league titles in England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France. Ancelotti left his second stint at Real Madrid to take over Brazil's national team. ___ AP soccer:

French right-wing National Rally party HQ raided by police in 'harassment operation'

The headquarters of the French right-wing National Rally party were raided Wednesday morning in Paris in what its leader is calling a "spectacular and unprecedented" harassment operation. "Since 8:50 this morning, the headquarters of the National Rally -- including the offices of its leaders -- have been the subject of a search carried out by around twenty police officers from the Financial Brigade, armed and wearing bulletproof vests, accompanied by two investigating judges," National Rally President Jordan Bardella said in a statement. "This spectacular and unprecedented operation is clearly part of a new harassment operation. It is a serious attack on pluralism and democratic change," he added. "Never has an opposition party suffered such relentless attacks under the Fifth Republic." Prosecutors said they are investigating allegations of illegal financing of longtime party leader Marine Le Pen's 2022 presidential bid, and the party's European Parliament and French parliamentary campaigns, according to the Associated Press. "All emails, documents and accounting records of the leading opposition party have been seized, although we do not yet know the precise grievances underlying them," Bardella also said. "All we know is that all the files concerning the latest regional, presidential, legislative and European campaigns -- that is, all the party's electoral activity -- are now in the hands of the courts." The Paris prosecutor's office said in a statement to the AP that searches were carried out at the National Rally's headquarters, at the headquarters of unidentified companies and at the homes of people leading those companies. The searches were prompted by a judicial inquiry opened a year ago into a raft of allegations, including fraud, money laundering and forgery, the prosecutor's office said. The inquiry aims to determine whether Le Pen's 2022 presidential campaign, and the party's campaigns for European Parliament in 2024 and French parliamentary elections in 2022, were financed by "illegal loans from individuals for the benefit of the party or National Rally candidates," the statement said. The inquiry is also investigating allegations that the National Rally overbilled for services or billed for fictitious services in order to artificially augment the amount of state aid provided to the party for its electoral campaigns. Authorities raided the National Party's headquarters after Le Pen — runner-up to incumbent President Emmanuel Macron in 2022 — was convicted of embezzlement in April. She and 24 other party officials were accused of having used money intended for European Union parliamentary aides to instead pay staff who worked for the party between 2004 and 2016, violating the 27-nation bloc's regulations. The prosecutor's office said no one has been charged in the latest case, with former party treasurer Wallerand de Saint-Just telling reporters outside the headquarters "We did nothing wrong.″
