Family blast caravan park after being forced to leave despite 'horrendous' stay
A family has vowed never to return to a caravan park in Wales after experiencing several issues during their stay and eventually being asked to leave.
Nicola Jones, her partner David Shirley, their three children, and other relatives arrived at the Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Park in Rhyl, Denbighshire, last Saturday. They had booked a £560 week-long stay and were due to check out today, but say they were told to leave early, which they did on Wednesday night.
Among the issues they faced were finding toothpaste in the sink, urine in the toilet, a sewing needle in the carpet and no running water in the food kiosks. Nicola said she left a note for the cleaner to point out the issues in their caravan - but claimed her request was ignored.

Nicola told North Wales Live: "There was toothpaste in the sink, pee in the toilet and hair in the shower. I requested a cleaner to come and sort out the caravan. I left some notes to show the cleaner what was needed. But she didn't look at the notes. She hoovered the floor and left everything else.
"I had to go to reception to complain but by then there were no cleaners left. I would have done it myself and requested some cleaning products as I was not going to buy them." Nicola said that in the end, a "lovely" lady arrived to solve the issues in the caravan.
But the issues didn't end there, as there was no running water at two food kiosks - one selling ice cream and the other pizzas - on the site last Monday and Tuesday. Nicola, of Port Talbot, runs a burger van and pointed out it had to be running water. She said that on one day, her relative went to Alton Towers "just not to be at the park."
Eventually Nicola said "sort kind of customer service manager" met her group to discuss about their problems - but claimed her group was eventually asked to leave. She said: "It's been horrendous. We were thrown off the site without a reason why. I was told if we left we would get a refund."
The mum said the group left the caravan park at 10pm on Wednesday and arrived home in south Wales at 3.30am. Due to their experience, Nicola said they will never return to the caravan park. She said: "It was the first time we have ever been to Rhyl. We book a different caravan park every year to give the kids more experience in going places.
"I would not book a holiday at a site like that again. I would go back to North Wales - towards Snowdonia (Eryri) way. We went horse riding and there was a holiday let on a farm (which they could use in future). (But) we would go past Rhyl with our eyes closed." Nicola says she has been offered a two-night refund which is "unacceptable".
A Lyons Holiday Parks spokesman told North Wales Live there were issues which were resolved: "We did have an issue with a burst main water pipe which did have to be repaired. We carried out the repair and operated in line with requirements. We did also have bottled water available for our guests.
"This guest did report issues on Sunday to reception and was offered upgraded accommodation and many alternatives which were refused. Our housekeeping team resolved all issues with the accommodation that afternoon."
The spokesman added: "Although we will not comment directly on the circumstances which prompted us to ask the guest to leave, a full refund will be issued and we have been in contact with the 3rd party operator today. We do not take decisions to asks guests to leave lightly, however in this situation we feel it was warranted." They added that the caravan park, which has been open for over 100 years, has "very positive" feedback from their guests.

Brit, 53, who left her kids in the UK to ‘start over' on party island slams haters – & says MORE mums should follow her
She has no regrets, and even thinks other mothers should follow her lead MUM ON THE RUN Brit, 53, who left her kids in the UK to 'start over' on party island slams haters – & says MORE mums should follow her Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A BRIT mum who left her six kids behind in the UK to "start again" abroad has hit back at her critics. Many people have been quick to blast Amanda as "terrible mum" for making the move. But she has no regrets, and even thinks other mothers should embrace being "selfish" and follow her lead. She told What's The Jam: "I see so many women shrinking to fit into society's expectations and losing their identity. "Reclaim it. Stop worrying about what others think. "As long as your kids are loved and secure, then other people's opinions mean nothing. "People love to slam women, especially online. "I've been told I look like 'a woman with three kids from three different dads'. "There's no accountability for the dads that f**ked off – at least we stuck around. All the passport rules you NEED to know now to stop your summer holidays being ruined or even cancelled "It's just a misogynistic attitude towards women, especially those who are strong and don't fit into the box that people want mothers to be in. "It's time to flip the script - make men responsible for their failings and stop piling it all on women." Since the big move in May 2020, Amanda has lost four stone and underwent some cosmetic procedures. She left behind a £120,000 salary, with her earnings now dropping to £50,000 per year. Amanda added: "Sit down and talk with your kids to see how they feel. "If they've noticed you're unhappy, like mine did, they may support the move. "You aren't abandoning them. When a relationship breaks down, one parent has to leave. Usually, it's the man. "We don't stop being a mum, but we can begin to be ourselves again to make us better people in the long run. "There will be resentment for being pushed into the situation and a lot of guilt for leaving. But you'll grow." She added that she hasn't been on a date in almost two years, saying her "standards are very high" and she "won't settle for breadcrumb affection". Amanda's kids are now aged 24, 23, 21, 19, 16 and 11. "Never stop communicating with them," she said. "Let your kids know you're present in their lives constantly. "And finally, live without regret. It's an unnecessary energy that drains you. "Kids adapt and thrive seeing their mum happy, rather than crying most weekends." She is also the author of a book called You're Going to Die So Do It Anyway. "People need to mind their own business," she added. "If they're not paying my bills, then they have no say on how I live my life. "I'm free – and it's about time other mums find that freedom, too." 6 She left behind a £120,000 salary Credit: Jam Press/@amandalifestylepr 6 'It's time to flip the script - make men responsible for their failings,' she said Credit: Jam Press/@amandalifestylepr

Tourist branded 'disrespectful' after bashing 'awful' local food at all-inclusive
TikTok star Simon Wilko is a self-professed picky eater, but she received backlash online after she questioned some of the food at her all-inclusive in Cyprus A teenager received backlash online when she slammed the buffet at her all-inclusive hotel. Brit holidayer Simon Wilko was in Cyprus with her mum and boyfriend earlier this month when she shared her lunch online. Simone's lunch included an 'awful' range of vegetables and traditional local foods. After choosing some pork stirfry and BBQ ribs, a plate of chips and pitta bread, Simone said in a TikTok video that there was 'so much to choose from, but at the same time there wasn't'. It comes after a flight attendant urged tourists to always leave a shoe in their hotel room safe. She said: 'I understand that I'm in a different country, but what on earth are these foods?' The video then showed some stuffed courgettes. She added: 'They look absolutely awful, I'm not going to lie. I couldn't think of anything worse.' The 19-year-old also revealed the choice of black eye beans with Swiss chards, and asked 'what on earth is this?'. At another counter, Simone was presented with a four-cheese pizza, also known as "pizza quattro formaggi", which she branded a disappointment because it was not a margherita and it had ' weird cheese'. Simone, who says she is a 'picky eater' then avoided the chicken because it was 'pink' near the bone. She also said she does not like the taste of seasoning. Simone said some of the desserts looked 'delicious' and enjoyed her chocolate crunch cake. She said her coco pops dessert was 'disgusting', however. Irked internet users criticised Simone for her choices and reaction to the foods. 'Try Cornwall babes,' one person said. Another said: ''I'm a very picky eater but this seems disrespectful.' One person also wrote: ''What on earth are these foods' and it's literally just vegetables.' But others leapt to her defence. One person said: 'I'm not a picky eater but that food doesn't look very appetising.' Simone is not the only abroad Brit to spark a debate. A mum‑of‑six faced backlash after she filmed herself reserving sunbeds for her whole family by the pool at dawn while on holiday in Spain, only to leave the hotel for the day. Stephanie, a mum who shares TikTok videos documenting her life with five boys and one girl, recently took a trip to Fuerteventura in Las Palmas, on the Canary Islands. She showed her morning routine: laying towels on sunbeds before enjoying breakfast and popping out to the shops, all before even thinking about returning to the pool. In the video, Stephanie explained that she hadn't yet had her annual leave approved, and suggested that her daughter had been taken out of school during term time. Wading into a contentious issue that can spark arguments even among the most mild‑mannered holidaymakers, she described how she wakes up, reserves the sunbeds, and then heads out. 'We have come as a big family, so we have to be there early,' the mum said. After Stephanie and her family finished their meal, they went shopping before returning to reclaim their reserved sun loungers. While Stephanie and her family enjoyed their day out before some restful time by the pool, the TikTok clip divided viewers.

Hawaii Disney resort tourists 'panicking' over tsunami as 'everything shuts down'
A powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia, sending tsunami waves towards Japan, Hawaii and the US West Coast, with tourists in Hawaii "panicking" Tourists in Hawaii have had their dream holiday turned on its head as they've been forced to take shelter and await a tsunami hitting the shores of the island following an explosive 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Russia. Nearly two million people have been evacuated across Japan with warnings also issued for Hawaii and the entirety of the US west coast after the most powerful earthquake anywhere since 2011. Jared and Kelly Newcomer are holidaying on the island of Oahu at Disney's Aulani resort, where prices start at $544 (£406) a night. They shared an update on social media as they prepared to "wait out" the natural disaster. It comes after a warning to Brit tourists planning all-inclusive holidays to Spain. Jared wrote on Facebook: "Well this is wild. We're sheltered in place on the 10th floor of the Disney Aulani hotel in Hawaii waiting for the tsunami. "Supposed to hit in half an hour. Praying it's not too bad. Everything is shut down, people are panicking. I was able to find some chips, ice cream, and bottled water to hold us over." Finding a silver lining, Jared added: "I actually found the last Coors Light in the hotel haha! I feel good about it, just gonna wait it out and watch from our balcony." The National Weather Service says that 'a tsunami has been generated that could cause damage along coastlines of all islands in the state of Hawaii. A tsunami warning remains in effect for the entire state of Hawaii. Tsunami waves have already struck parts of Russia, Hawaii, California and Japan's northern island of Hokkaido, with dramatic footage showing walls of water crashing against shores. One person has died so far, and tsunami flooding has damaged the port at Severo-Kurilsk on Russia's Kuril Islands. Flights to Hawaii have been suspended. An earthquake and tsunami warning for the US reads: "An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 8.7 has struck the eastern coast of Russia in the Kamchatka Peninsula region." "A tsunami threat message has been issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre. If you are in the affected areas potentially affected by the earthquake or tsunami you should follow the advice of the local authorities." Russia's earthquake is one of the strongest ever recorded in the region. Horror four metre high tsunami waves left buildings in pieces and caused severe flooding in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It had a preliminary magnitude of 8.0 when it initially struck, but the US Geological Survey later updated its measurement to 8.8 magnitude. The shallow quake has caused injuries for several people while on Japan's eastern coast an order was made to evacuate. A nursery was damaged but most buildings were able to stand firm, Russian authorities said. Nearly two million individuals have been given evacuation advisories in over 220 municipalities along Japan's Pacific coast, according to the country's Fire and Disaster Management Agency.
