I don't rank as high as other heroes: Pawan Kalyan makes startling claim

Ahead of the long-delayed release of 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part 1', actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan opened up about the emotional journey behind the film and the many challenges it faced. Despite being one of Telugu cinema's most influential stars, the actor-politician humbly remarked that he doesn't see himself on the same commercial scale as some of his at a press meet in Hyderabad on Monday, Pawan said, 'Politically, I may have a recognisable name and a presence across the country. But when it comes to cinema, I know I don't rank as high as other heroes. That brings its own set of challenges. My films may not do the kind of business theirs do or bring in the same returns. My primary focus has always been politics. I never was competitive with films. My focus was always on social service. It is everyone's industry.'Here's the video: He admitted that he rarely attends promotional events, not out of arrogance, but because he finds it difficult to market his own work. 'This press meet is for producer AM Rathnam. I'm here because of him,' he said, crediting the veteran producer's unwavering faith in keeping the film alive through its numerous delays and setbacks.'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' has had a troubled production history, with nearly a dozen postponements and changes behind the scenes. Initially helmed by director Krish Jagarlamudi, the film was conceived as a high-concept period drama. However, due to various circumstances, Krish stepped away, and the directorial reins were handed over to Jyothi Krisna, son of AM Krish's early involvement, Pawan said, 'Krish brought this as a high-concept project. I thank him for laying the foundation.' He also spoke candidly about the creative and financial difficulties that plagued the film. 'This project wasn't smooth. We had to face many challenges,' he said. Produced by A Dayakar Rao under Mega Surya Production and presented by AM Rathnam, the period action drama stars Pawan Kalyan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Bobby Deol, Sathyaraj, Nargis Fakhri, and others. The film's music is composed by MM Keeravani, with cinematography by Gnana Sekhar and Manoj Paramahamsa. It is slated for release on July 24.- Ends

Pawan Kalyan Refuses To Promote His Film Hari Hara Veera Mallu

Pawan Kalyan won't promote Hari Hara Veera Mallu due to political commitments, says producer AM Rathnam. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, it releases July 2025 on Amazon Prime. Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan will reportedly not participate in the promotional campaign for his long-delayed film Hari Hara Veera Mallu, producer AM Rathnam has confirmed. The announcement comes as the period action drama, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, gears up for its theatrical release in July 2025 after multiple postponements. Pawan Kalyan, who currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is expected to remain occupied with political commitments in the coming months. During a recent press interaction, Rathnam clarified the actor's absence from the promotional events, especially those targeting pan-India audiences. 'Please watch the film to enjoy, not just to find mistakes. This film is made for the audience. Pawan Kalyan is busy with other commitments and won't promote the film in Hindi and other languages," Rathnam stated. The film, which has been in production for several years, recently cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process and was granted a UA certificate. Its final runtime stands at 2 hours and 42 minutes. No major changes or cuts have been requested by the board, signaling a smooth clearance ahead of release. Meanwhile, the film's digital rights are already locked with Amazon Prime Video. The OTT deal was signed earlier, but sources indicate that the makers faced pressure from the streaming platform to confirm a release timeline. Reportedly, Prime Video had warned of revising the terms of the agreement if the film didn't meet a firm deadline by the end of July. Any further delay, the platform hinted, could lead to a reduction in the originally agreed financial deal. Despite the setbacks, Hari Hara Veera Mallu remains one of the most anticipated Telugu releases. Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit (tagline: Battle for Dharma) is an upcoming Telugu-language period action-adventure film, set against the backdrop of the 17th-century Mughal Empire. The film is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and A.M. Jyothi Krishna, with a screenplay by Jagarlamudi and Sai Madhav Burra. The story follows the journey of the legendary outlaw Veera Mallu, played by Pawan Kalyan. The cast also includes Bobby Deol, Nidhhi Agerwal, Nargis Fakhri, Nora Fatehi, and Satyaraj in key roles. Announced in January 2020, the film began principal photography in September that year, primarily in Hyderabad. However, it faced multiple delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Pawan Kalyan's political responsibilities. Filming finally wrapped up in May 2025. The music has been composed by the renowned M.M. Keeravani. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Abusive, defamatory, or illegal comments will be removed. Rs 323 crore safety fix for Uppada coast: Andhra Dy CM Pawan Kalyan

VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party President Konidala Pawan Kalyan announced that a permanent solution is in sight for the long-standing coastal erosion problem in Uppada village of the Pithapuram constituency. Taking to the social media platform 'X' on Friday, he revealed that the Union government, through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), is actively considering a proposal to construct coastal protection structures in the region at an estimated cost of Rs 323 crore. Highlighting the urgency of the issue, Pawan Kalyan noted that over the last five years, Uppada has witnessed an alarming average erosion of 1.23 metres annually, resulting in the loss of nearly 12 metres. This has had a devastating impact on nearby villages, particularly the homes and livelihoods of fishermen. 'Staying true to the NDA's election promise, we are ready to commence construction as soon as the necessary approvals are granted,' he posted. The State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has already submitted the detailed project proposals to the Ministry of Home Af fairs via NDMA.
