Appeal ruling set in fatal Saar crash case
A Bahraini man jailed over a crash that killed three members of the same family and left two children badly injured is due to hear the outcome of his appeal on 14 August. The High Criminal Appeals Court will decide whether to uphold the original sentence handed down for a head-on collision in Saar. The Traffic Court had earlier sentenced the 29-year-old to six years in prison. It also ordered the suspension of his driving licence for one year after his release and the confiscation of the vehicle used in the crash. The crash took place on 30 May 2025. Prosecutors said the man had been speeding, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and entered the opposite lane without caution. He struck the victims' car head-on. The collision killed the driver, his wife and their son, and left two other children in the vehicle seriously hurt. The charges also included several traffic offences. The prosecution called for the harshest penalty possible, arguing the man had shown no regard for the law or the lives of others.

Bahrain Court Increases Jail Term For Boat Accident
The High Criminal Court of Appeal has toughened the sentence of a man involved in a deadly boating accident, increasing his prison term to three years. According to the Public Prosecution, the incident occurred when the man, along with two foreign companions-who were previously convicted and deported-went on an illegal fishing trip. The man took his own boat out to sea without safety equipment, turned off the navigation lights, and disabled the boat's tracking system to avoid detection by the Coast Guard. On the way back, he was steering the boat under the influence of drugs, speeding, and ignoring international maritime collision rules. His reckless actions led to a collision with another boat carrying two people, who sustained fatal injuries. The lower court had initially sentenced the man to six months in jail, but prosecutors appealed, arguing that the punishment did not reflect the seriousness of his actions or his disregard for human the appellate court agreed with the prosecution and increased his sentence to three years in prison.
