Ola Aina signs new three-year Nottingham Forest contract
Ola Aina has committed his future to Nottingham Forest by signing a new three-year contract until 2028. The Athletic reported in November that Forest were in advanced talks with Aina over a new deal, with his contract set to expire next summer after a one-year extension clause was activated when the club were confirmed to have avoided relegation last season. Advertisement Aina joined Forest in July 2023 on a one-year deal after his contract expired at Serie A side Torino. He featured regularly at left-back in his first campaign as Forest escaped relegation to finish 17th in the league. Forest activated the option to extend Aina's contract by an additional year in May 2024 and the Nigeria international has continued to be a valuable part of Nuno Espirito Santo's defence, this time on the right flank. Aina made 37 appearances in all competitions in the 2024-25 season as Forest finished seventh in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup semi-finals. The 28-year-old has made 59 appearances for Forest in total, scoring three times and providing two assists. Forest also signed Chris Wood to a new deal during the 2024-25 season and extended centre-back Murillo's contract until 2029. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo also signed a new contract in June, extending his stay with the club until 2028. Aina came through Chelsea's academy and went on to make six appearances for the first team. He spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Championship side Hull City before being loaned to Torino for the following season. The Italian team took up their option to sign him permanently in June 2019 and he went on to make 113 appearances for the club in all competitions. He returned to west London for the 2020-21 season, spending the campaign on loan at Fulham. Despite appearing for England at various youth levels, the London-born Aina was called up to the Nigeria senior team for the first time in 2017 and has won 40 caps for the side. ()

Jhon Duran completes loan move to Fenerbahce from Al Nassr
Jhon Duran has completed a season-long loan move to Fenerbahce, less than six months after signing for Al Nassr. The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Duran, 21, had flown out to Turkey in order to complete the move. The striker joined the Saudi Pro League side from Aston Villa in a deal worth €77million (£64.5m) plus add-ons in the January transfer window, signing a five-and-a-half year deal. The 22-year-old scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for Al Nassr, who finished third in 2024-25 — 13 points off champions Al Ittihad. Fenerbahce finished the 2024-25 campaign as Super Lig runners-up for the fourth consecutive season, in Jose Mourinho's first season in charge. They finished 11 points behind Galatasaray, while also ousted from the Turkish Cup in the quarter-finals and Europa League in the round-of-16. We have reached an agreement with Al Nassr FC and Jhon Duran for the player to join our squad on a one-year loan deal. We wish him a successful season in our yellow and navy colours. Fenerbahçe Sports Club — Fenerbahçe English (@Fenerbahce_EN) July 6, 2025 Fenerbahce have not won the Turkish top-flight title since 2013-14 under Ersun Yanal, and feel the acquisition of Duran could be akin to Galatasaray's loan signing of Victor Osimhen last season, with the Napoli striker scoring 37 goals during the 2024-25 campaign. Duran had largely been utilised as a substitute for Villa by Unai Emery during the first half of the recent campaign, and scored 12 goals in 29 matches, just seven of those starts. The Colombia international scored 20 goals in 78 matches overall for Villa, whom he joined from the Chicago Fire for a fee of up to £17.75m in January 2023. Advertisement West Ham United saw a bid for Duran rejected in the summer of 2024, before returning with another offer of £57m for the forward in January, which was also turned down. Duran eventually departed Villa Park for Al Nassr, where he joined the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte. Ronaldo secured his future with the SPL club last month, signing a new two-year contract which will see him remain in Riyadh until the age of 42. Head coach Stefano Piolo, meanwhile, left the club this summer, with former Fenerbahce head coach Jorge Jesus linked with the role. ()
