Will not demand 2A reservation as long as Siddaramaiah remains CM, says Seer
Speaking to media in Belagavi on Friday, the seer said, 'During the Assembly session, the government tried to suppress the Panchamasali movement by resorting to lathicharge. For this reason, we have decided not to seek reservation during Siddaramaiah's tenure.'
He expressed happiness over the High Court's rejection of the Karnataka government's petition in connection with the lathicharge incident and said 'The government, acting illegally and in collusion with the police, unleashed a deadly assault on peaceful protestors. We had demanded that the officers responsible for the unl wful assault be suspended. Following this, we staged a nine-day agitation to press our demands, but the State Government remained indifferent,' he said.
'We then moved the High Court, questioning the wrongful actions of the government. On April 4, HC accepted our petition and delivered a historic verdict. It directed that an investigation be conducted by a bench of three judges within three months.
However, even after the three-month deadline, the government has made no effort to initiate an invest-igation. It appears the government is now filled with regret,' he added.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has approved the release of Rs 50 crore in development grants for each MLA, following weeks of internal discussions and mounting pressure from party legislators who had complained of fund shortages. The move comes after a series of one-on-one meetings that several Congress legislators held with state in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, where they expressed concern over the lack of financial support to carry out developmental work in their meetings took place at the Congress party office in Bengaluru, where the legislators reiterated that the delay in fund disbursal was stalling key infrastructure projects in both urban and rural segments. Following the MLAs' representations, Surjewala is learnt to have taken up the matter with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, during separate meetings held in Bengaluru and Delhi. After several rounds of internal deliberations, the Chief Minister has now sanctioned the long-pending allocation, as was originally proposed in the state budget. Each MLA will receive Rs 50 crore towards constituency development, with the funds earmarked for infrastructure works such as roads and July 17, fresh concerns were raised again, this time by an Independent MLA supporting the Congress-led government. Darshan Puttannaiah, who represents Melukote in Mandya district, said the funds released were not enough to meet the needs of rural areas. To a question on urban voters not supporting Congress during elections, Siddarmaihah said, it cannot be said outrightly. It is with support of all voters the party has come to power. He cited the examples of Mysuru and Bengaluru. Downplaying a question on curiosity surrounding "September revolution" as claimed by some Congress leaders, amid speculation about CM change, he said, "ask those who said it. Even if those who have said are from my party, they have not told me about it. Ask them."
