Iowa women's basketball opens summer practices
While Iowa closed out the 2024-25 campaign with a 10-8 record within the Big Ten and 23-11 overall, the Hawkeyes' last 15 games saw the team go on a scorching hot 11-3 run before dropping their second-round matchup to Oklahoma in the NCAA Tournament. Entering her second season as head coach, Jan Jensen looks to capitalize on the Hawkeyes' late-season momentum with a retooled group of talented players joining the team.
Headlining the exciting group of newcomers are five-star guard Addie Deal, who is joined by fellow guards Jouney Houston, Chazadi 'Chit-Chat' Wright, and center Layla Hayes. Among those four, Wright is the lone addition with previous collegiate experience as the sophomore played at Georgia Tech last season before joining Iowa through the transfer portal.

While the team endured some growing pains last year with a new head coach, conference expansion, and inopportune injuries, the Hawkeyes hope the lessons learned from last season will allow the group to take the next step towards regaining their spot amongst the conference's and nation's elites.
As the summer practices move along and the summer months turn to fall, the anticipation for another memorable Hawkeyes season will only grow stronger by the day.

USC lands another No. 1 prospect in women's basketball as Saniyah Hall commits
Saniyah Hall, ESPN's No. 1 women's basketball prospect in the high school class of 2026, has committed to play at Southern California. Hall, a 6-foot-2 guard from northeast Ohio, announced her decision last week on ESPN's 'NBA Today.' USC has landed three of the last four No. 1 recruits, with Hall joining JuJu Watkins in 2023 and Jasmine Davidson in 2025. Iowa football defender named to Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list
Iowa football is known for punishing defense and standouts in the trenches. The Hawkeyes and defensive coordinator Phil Parker have reason to be fired up about what they bring back up front defensively heading into 2025. One piece of that defensive interior and his talent has been recognized before the 2025 campaign boots off. Senior defensive lineman Aaron Graves was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list on Tuesday afternoon. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive tackle has already garnered plenty of preseason pub. Graves was also named to the Lott Trophy preseason award watch list, is a preseason first-team All-Big Ten choice and second-team All-American per Phil Steele and a preseason second-team All-Big Ten selection by Athlon Sports. The Dayton, Iowa, native started all 13 games last season for the Hawkeyes, tallying 33 tackles, eight tackles for loss, six sacks, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles and a pair of quarterback hurries. In his career, Graves has appeared in 39 games and totaled 85 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and four pass breakups. Ohio State basketball to host in-state opponent in preseason open exhibition
According to a report from Eleven Warriors, sources have indicated that the Ohio State basketball team will host a preseason exhibition with in-state MAC opponent, Ohio University. Even more importantly, the scrimmage will be open to the public, so fans will get a look at the 2025-2026 Buckeyes prior to the start of the season. The game will also mark the return of a former Ohio State assistant coach, Jeff Boals, who was a former Ohio State head coach Thad Matta assistant from 2009 to 2016. Since taking over in Athens, Boals and the Bobcats have done very well, even winning the MAC Conference Tournament in 2021. It's an important year for Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler and the Buckeyes. The momentum the program had at the end of the 2023-2024 season, when Diebler took over when Chris Holtmann was let go, was all but lost when the team failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight season. OSU retained three key pieces on the roster with the return of Bruce Thronton, Devin Royal, and John Mobley Jr., but will have several new faces that must mesh and come together for the Buckeyes to "make a jump" this season.
