Visa screening doesn't stop even after it's issued, person can be deported: US mission
NEW DELHI: The US on Saturday again warned that travellers to the country have to follow all rules or they will be deported. "US visa screening does not stop after a visa is issued. We continuously check visa holders to ensure they follow all US laws and immigration rules.
We will revoke their visas and deport them if they don't," the US embassy in India said on X Saturday.
The Trump administration has been getting strict with visa issuances. It only recently resumed student visa processing for this fall after pausing May-end over social media screening. "Effective immediately, all individuals applying for an F, M, or J nonimmigrant visa are requested to adjust the privacy settings on all of their social media accounts to public to facilitate vetting necessary to establish their identity and admissibility to the United States under US law," the embassy had said on X on June 23.
Three days later, this policy was expanded when the embassy said: "Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last five years on the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas.

‘Blood Covenant': Iranian crowdfunding website claims to have raised $40 million to assassinate Trump; ‘call to Jihad' say analysts
Donald Trump (AP) A crowdfunding campaign that promised $40 million for the assassination of US President Donald Trump was linked to a former employee of Iran's main state-run propaganda outlet. The campaign was reportedly organised by a group called 'Blood Covenant,' which pledged to bring 'justice' for actions committed by 'militants.' According to the US-based think tank Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), the group allegedly operated under the 'aegis of the Iranian regime,' as reported by the New York Post. 'We pledge to award the prize to whoever can bring the militants and those who threaten the life of the Deputy of Imam Mahdi (may our souls be sacrificed for him) to justice for their actions,' the group had posted on its website. MEMRI described the campaign as 'a call to jihad, inviting believers to donate their money and sacrifice their lives.' It added, 'The fact that these calls to assassinate Trump were coming from above and echoed in the street and through all strata of society, including in the Iranian media… reflected a broad religious and regime consensus strengthened by reiterated emphasis on the reward anyone carrying out the punishment against Trump could expect to receive — in addition to the $40.3 million, also Paradise and the status of a defender of Islam. 'This means using every tool at our disposal, including sanctions, to implement the president's maximum pressure strategy,' the official added. The development came after Iran's top Shiite religious authority issued a 'fatwa' or religious decree last month against Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The fatwa, declared by Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, called on Muslims to bring down both leaders for allegedly threatening the leadership of the Islamic Republic. Sadanandan, 61, a retired teacher from Parinchery in Kannur, had lost his legs at the age of 30 in an attack by CPM cadres in 1994 when he was RSS Kannur sarkaryavahak. Sadanandan continued to be active in RSS and BJP, walking using prosthetic legs. He contested as a BJP candidate from Koothuparamba assembly constituency in 2016 and 2021. In his congratulatory message shared on X, PM Narendra Modi said Sadanandan's life was the epitome of courage and refusal to bow to injustice. "Violence and intimidation couldn't deter his spirit towards national development. His efforts as a teacher and social worker are also commendable," he said. Sadanandan expressed happiness over the nomination and said that Modi gave a hint in a telephonic conversation on Friday.
