"It's our right to know": BJP MP Arun Govil backs UP Govt's nameplate rule for Kanwar Yatra route
Speaking to ANI in Hapur, Govil said, 'What problem should anyone have in telling their name and giving other details? The Kanwar Yatra is a religious ritual that must be performed according to specific rules and norms. It is our right to know where one can go.'
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Police have deployed the Rapid Action Force (RAF), Quick Response Team (QRT), and Anti-Terror Squad to ensure the secure conduct of the Kanwar Yatra, which begins on July 11.
According to the guidelines issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna, 587 Gazetted Officers, 2040 Inspectors, 13,520 Sub-Inspectors, 39,965 Head Constables and Constables, 1,486 Women Sub-Inspectors, 8,541 Women Head Constables and Constables, 50 Companies of Central Police Force and Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) and 1,424 Home Guards have been deployed.
Arrangements are being made for 24/7 active patrolling. UP-112 personnel have been briefed in this regard, and their vehicles have been arranged.
Local divers have been deployed on the banks of rivers and canals after proper briefing and training. Barricading and danger signs are also being put up on the banks of rivers.
A total of 395 drones have been set up for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
The instructions have been given to make available the mobile numbers of all police officers and station in-charge, the traffic diversion scheme and other important information to the devotees through barcodes in newspaper advertisements, hoardings and social media.
1,845 water service centres, 829 medical camps, 1,222 police help centres and control rooms have been set up on the main Kanwar route. (ANI)

Furthermore, Bangkok Post cited the Thai interior ministry as saying that over 100,000 people from four border provinces of the country had been moved to nearly 300 temporary shelters, while the kingdom's health ministry announced that the death toll had risen to 14- thirteen civilians and one soldier. Thailand's Royal Army has denied reports from Cambodia that it targeted an ancient Hindu Temple in the Cambodian province of Preah Vihear, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Thailand and Cambodia have frequently clashed over their shared land border, a dispute that reportedly remains unresolved due to competing territorial claims dating back to the French colonial era.

Trinamool Congress MP refutes Haryana CM charge against Bengal CM on migrant workers
Refuting allegations made by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini who accused his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee of compromising with the security of the country for vote bank politics, Trinamool Congress MP and chairperson of West Bengal Migrant Welfare Board Samirul Islam on Saturday said that a witch-hunt is going on against migrants in the name of 'Bangladeshis'. In a social media post, the Haryana Chief Minister said there is no place for Bangladeshis in the country, and the sympathy shown by the West Bengal Chief Minister towards those who are compromising national interests is not only unfortunate but against national interest. 'From day one, we have said that there is no issue if the administration takes action against genuine infiltrators. But in the name of a witch-hunt against 'Bangladeshis', BJP-ruled states — including yours — have been unlawfully detaining our brothers and sisters who are working there. We strongly protest against the atrocities being committed against Bengali-speaking Indian citizens, and it is unfortunate that people like you are trying to falsely blame us,' Mr. Islam said. In another post, the chairperson of the State migrant welfare board added that hundreds of Bengali-speaking migrant workers working in different States have been unlawfully detained and harassed by BJP-ruled State governments like in Odisha, Maharashtra, and Delhi and many of them have even been deported to Bangladesh. Mr. Islam said that he had asked a question about the number of migrants working in other States, which was not provided by the Union government.

Only illiterate, superstitious villagers embark on the Kanwar Yatra, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Ziyauddin Rizvi said on Saturday (July 26, 2025), claiming that the family members of big leaders or industrialists do not undertake this pilgrimage. 'Flowers are being showered on Kanwar Yatris. Why do no sons of an IAS officer or PCS officer, or the sons of Amit Shah, Anil Ambani or of any BJP MP or MLA go for the Kanwar Yatra?' asked the Sikandarpur MLA, addressing an SP rally at Ballia district headquarters. The Kanwar Yatra is a major pilgrimage undertaken during the month of Sawan, also known as Shravan, according to the Hindu calendar. The Yatra is especially undertaken by devotees of Lord Shiva, with many observing fasts and refraining from consuming meat, alcohol, and even onion and garlic during this period.
