Woman killed in Midlands tractor crash as man arrested

A man has been arrested after a female biker was tragically killed in in a tractor crash near Ledbury.
The motorcyclist, aged in her 50s, collided with a tractor on the A449 Ross Road shortly after 10.30am yesterday, July 19.
She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving following the fatal crash.
He has since been released under investigation as police enquires continued.
West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses of the incident to contact the force.
It said the woman was travelling on a Honda CBF 500 motorbike along the A449 from Ledbury, towards Preston Cross roundabout.

The tractor driver was driving a John Deere tractor towing a trailer containing seed drill.
He was leaving a farm waiting to turn right onto the A449 towards Preston Cross Roundabout, the force added.
PC Danny Somner of West Mercia Police said: "Our thoughts are with the woman's loved ones, following yesterday's tragic collision.
'We're keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage to support our investigation.

"They were last seen near Sheldon Close in Pershore. "Hannah is described as white, 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build, and shoulder-length brown hair with blonde highlights. "Lydia is white, with brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes." Officers said they had links to four towns in the region, adding: "It is believed they may have travelled to another area, as they have links to Stratford, Leamington Spa, Redditch and Wellesbourne. "We, along with Hannah and Lydia's family and friends, are growing increasingly concerned for their welfare. "Please call 999 immediately, quoting reference 316i of July 23, if you see Hannah and Lydia, or have any information on their whereabouts."

A 19-year-old woman has died after a car collided with a lorry in Wiltshire, police have said. Emergency services were called to the scene on the A4 Bath Road, Corsham, shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday, after a Hyundai i10 crashed with a Scania tipper HGV. The young woman, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, Wiltshire Police said. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. Wiltshire Police said the female driver and a male passenger in the Hyundai were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the lorry was unhurt by the collision at the junction with the B3109, the force said. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team have launched an appeal for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time. The road, which was closed for several hours while emergency services responded, has since reopened. Wiltshire Police said in a statement: 'We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Corsham yesterday (24/07) in which a 19-year-old woman sadly died. 'At about 1.30pm a Hyundai i10 was in collision with a Scania tipper HGV on the A4 Bath Road at the junction with the B3109. 'A female passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have issued a witness appeal after objects were reportedly thrown off a bridge over a main road in the West Midlands. West Mercia Police said objects were flung from a bridge over the A38 in Rubery this week. The force has identified three people they wish to speak to and have urgently asked anyone who was travelling along the A38 on Tuesday evening to get in touch with any information. A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after objects were thrown from a bridge over the A38 in Rubery causing damage to a vehicle. "The incident happened on Tuesday (July 22) between 6pm and 6.10pm as the vehicle travelled under the bridge. "The objects were thrown from the bridge on Callowbridge Road as it goes over the A38. "Following enquiries, officers believe there to be three suspects, who are described as being between the ages of 11 and 16 years old. "Two were wearing dark clothing and the third is described as wearing a black and bright cyan blue top and shorts. "Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A38 or Callowbridge Road around the time of the incident, who may have seen any suspicious activity or has dashcam footage. "Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Neil Clayton by emailing quoting incident number 443i of July 22, 2025."
