Meghan Markle reveals truth behind her ‘baby mama' dance in viral twerking clip
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared the clip to her Instagram account a fortnight ago. It gained widespread attention including from royal watchers who panned the behind-the-scenes video.
Markle took aim at her detractors during an interview with Dragon's Den star Emma Grede on her Aspire podcast, saying she can finally live life on her own terms.
'You have to be authentic. Did you see my 'baby momma' dance? That was four years ago.' Markle said.
'So, it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that's happening behind the scenes.
'I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.'
Markle shared the throwback clip to mark Lilibet's fourth birthday.
Markle was a week past her due date when, waiting in the hospital with husband Prince Harry, she opted to do the dance in an attempt to induce labour.
'Four years ago today, this also happened,' the video caption read.
'Both of our children were a week past their due dates … so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work there was only one thing left to do!'
Grede praised the light-hearted clip, saying: 'We maybe watched it, like, 20 times yesterday and I was, like, is that, is that her?'
Markle laughed.
Grede continued: 'Is that Prince Harry there with the fingers? I was like, OK, Meghan and Harry, let's go. But that's you, right? Like, that's you in a way that we kind of haven't been able to see you before.
'And I did, like, a little secret cheer cause I was, like, well, that's what I kind of want to see from you. Like, I want to see that happiness and that honesty and that 'I don't give a f***' kind of thing.'
The baby mama dance was a craze on social media in 2018.
Lilibet, the youngest daughter of Meghan and Harry, was born on June 4, 2021.
The youngster, affectionately known as 'Lili', became a princess when King Charles ascended to the throne, following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.
Grede, who is the chief product officer at SKIMS, launched her Aspire podcast last month, with identities such as Gwenyth Paltrow and supermodel Karlie Kloss being interviewed on the show.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar 'haven't talked in years'
Jennifer Love Hewitt hasn't talked to Sarah Michelle Gellar in decades. The 46-year-old actress starred alongside Sarah in 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Jennifer has now laughed off rumours of a feud between herself and her former co-star. Asked about their rumoured falling out, Jennifer told Vulture: "I haven't seen Sarah. Literally, we've not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out. That's why it's so funny to me. "People were like, 'Say something back.' And I'm like, 'What am I going to say? I've not seen her.' On my side, we're good. I have no idea where this is coming from." Jennifer actually feels proud of Sarah and other actresses of their generation who have managed to survive in Hollywood for so long. The movie star said: "There are people [who] blow up and are hugely famous, and then there are those little warriors from the '90s who just keep going. I secretly root for all those people." Sarah's husband, Freddie Prinze Jr, stars in the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie alongside Jennifer. And Sarah recently dismissed rumours of a falling out between herself and her former co-star, after they weren't spotted together at the premiere in Los Angeles. In a post on Instagram, Sarah wrote: "For everyone asking - I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt, who is fantastic in the movie. "I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didn't come to the after party. "If you have ever been to one of these it's crazy. I sadly didn't get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn't change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online. (sic)" Sarah previously shared pictures from the event on the social media platform and wrote: "What a night!!! Still can't believe ... years later (no need to date myself) I got to walk the red carpet at another premiere of @ikwydlsmovie. "Still starring the most handsome man I know @realfreddieprinze but this time directed by my best friend @jennkaytin and written by Jenn and @samlansky. I love this movie sooooo much and this cast!! Hailey Bieber suffering skin problems due to 'stress'
Hailey Bieber has been suffering from a "flare up" of perioral dermatitis. The Rhode founder has revealed she often gets a bout of the skin rash when she's tired or stressed or has used the wrong products on her skin and she's now shared the "minimal" steps she uses to calm it down. In a post on Instagram, she shared a picture of the rash around her mouth and wrote: "Always flares up when I'm traveling a lot, sleep deprived, hormones, the wrong SPF, new products, stress." Hailey went on to explain how she calms her skin down again using prescription medication and products from her Rhode beauty range. She added: "What I use when I have a flare: so minimal. Rinse my face with water, prescription Azelaic, Hypochlorous acid, Clindamycin, Glazing Milk." Hailey recently sold her Rhode brand to e.l.f. Beauty in a deal estimated to be worth up to $1 billion, but she'll stay on as chief creative officer and head of innovation as well as acting as a consultant to e.l.f. Beauty. The influencer recently insisted the arrangement will help her take the products to a whole new level and expand across the world. She told Glamour magazine: "When you're launching a brand, you're just so focused on what's right in front of you at the time. "And of course, you always have really big dreams and really big goals for it. This is definitely one of those things being realised. I could have never anticipated that it would happen at this exact time ... "I'm super excited ... I'll be the chief creative officer and head of innovation at Rhode and advisor to Elf Beauty. "I feel like at this very moment in time, my vision has not been more clear to me. I want to expand globally, and I have so many more dreams and goals that I want to be realised. And I really believe that Elf is going to help us get there." When asked if there will ever be a "crossover collection" between Rhode and e.l.f. Cosmetics, she replied: "Well, that'll depend on our strategic advisor ... "I'm always open to seeing how we can innovate together. I mean, that is the whole point of all of this. I would say nothing's off the table."

Kate Bosworth and Justin Long 'become parents'
Kate Bosworth and Justin Long have reportedly become parents for the first time. The Blue Crush star and the 47-year-old actor have welcomed a baby girl into the world via a surrogate, sources told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column. A spokesperson for the couple - who married in 2023, a year after they went public with their romance - has yet to comment on the happy news. Justin previously hinted at planning a family with Kate, 42, in a touching post for her birthday last year. He wrote in part: "One day our kids might ask me 'Dad, why did you write sappy things about Mom on that old Instagram app? The one you won't let us use?' And I'll say 'Well, _____, because there are a lot of poisonous things on the Internet but your mom always inspires me to put good things into the world. Besides, i know reading those old posts touched her and made her smile. And I've been so blessed to have experienced so many fun, wondrous things in this life - things for which I'll never be able to properly express my gratitude - but of all those joys, touching your Mom and making her smile are my favorites.' "They might say 'Ew!' Or 'Why?' "And I'd say 'Because she completed all of your Dad's favorite love songs. Even ones he hadn't thought about since he was a kid. Like the theme song of a TV show he loved called FAMILY TIES. There was a line in that song that went like this "…and there ain't no nothin' we can't love each other through…" And one year, when she was 40, your Mom completed that song too. She's simply the best' (sic)" Just as the couple didn't announce they were expecting a baby, it only emerged they had married when Justin referred to Kate as his wife in May 2023, a month after they had announced their engagement. Speaking on his Life is Short podcast, he recalled his time in Bulgaria working on Barbarian and said: "I was there while I was like really falling in love with my now-wife. "She came to visit and I had never been comfortable with… set visits. I like to separating the relationship... "But, yeah, I loved having her there and we just had the most magical time... It helped me having her there. She'd help me with scenes. It was the best."
