Meghan Markle reveals truth behind her ‘baby mama' dance in viral twerking clip
Meghan Markle has broken her silence on her viral twerking clip, which showed her doing a 'baby momma' dance while pregnant with daughter, Lilibet. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared the clip to her Instagram account a fortnight ago. It gained widespread attention including from royal watchers who panned the behind-the-scenes video. Markle took aim at her detractors during an interview with Dragon's Den star Emma Grede on her Aspire podcast, saying she can finally live life on her own terms. 'You have to be authentic. Did you see my 'baby momma' dance? That was four years ago.' Markle said. 'So, it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that's happening behind the scenes. 'I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.' Markle shared the throwback clip to mark Lilibet's fourth birthday. Markle was a week past her due date when, waiting in the hospital with husband Prince Harry, she opted to do the dance in an attempt to induce labour. 'Four years ago today, this also happened,' the video caption read. 'Both of our children were a week past their due dates … so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work there was only one thing left to do!' Grede praised the light-hearted clip, saying: 'We maybe watched it, like, 20 times yesterday and I was, like, is that, is that her?' Markle laughed. Grede continued: 'Is that Prince Harry there with the fingers? I was like, OK, Meghan and Harry, let's go. But that's you, right? Like, that's you in a way that we kind of haven't been able to see you before. 'And I did, like, a little secret cheer cause I was, like, well, that's what I kind of want to see from you. Like, I want to see that happiness and that honesty and that 'I don't give a f***' kind of thing.' The baby mama dance was a craze on social media in 2018. Lilibet, the youngest daughter of Meghan and Harry, was born on June 4, 2021. The youngster, affectionately known as 'Lili', became a princess when King Charles ascended to the throne, following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II. Grede, who is the chief product officer at SKIMS, launched her Aspire podcast last month, with identities such as Gwenyth Paltrow and supermodel Karlie Kloss being interviewed on the show.

Atlanta rapper Silentó gets 30 years after pleading guilty to killing his cousin
Silentó, the Atlanta rapper known for his hit song 'Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),' pleaded guilty but mentally ill Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter and other charges in the 2021 shooting death of his 34-year-old cousin. The 27-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Ricky Lamar Hawk, was sentenced to 30 years in prison, DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston said in a statement. Hawk also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possessing a gun while committing a crime and concealing the death of another. A murder charge was dropped as part of the plea agreement. 3 Rapper Silento, legal name Richard Lamar 'Ricky' Hawk, is seen in a police booking photo after his arrest on murder charges February 1, 2021 in DeKalb County, Georgia. DeKalb County Sheriff's Office via Getty Images DeKalb County police found Frederick Rooks III shot in the leg and face in the early morning hours of Jan. 21, 2021 outside a home in a suburban area near Decatur. Police said the found 10 bullet casings near Rooks' body, and security video from a nearby home showed a white BMW SUV speeding away shortly after the gunshots. A family member of Rooks told police that Silentó had picked up Rooks in a white BMW SUV, and GPS data and other cameras put the vehicle at the site of the shooting. Silentó confessed about 10 days later after he was arrested, police said. Ballistics testing matched the bullet casings to a gun that Silentó had when he was arrested, authorities said. Rooks' brothers and sisters told DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney L. Johnson before sentencing that Silentó should have gotten a longer sentence, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The rapper was a high school junior in suburban Atlanta in 2015 when he released 'Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)' and watched it skyrocket into a dance craze. Silentó made multiple other albums, but said in an interview with the medical talk show 'The Doctors' in 2019 that he struggled with depression and had grown up in a family where he witnessed mental illness and violence. 3 Silento arrives at the BET Awards in Los Angeles, June 26, 2016. Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP 'I've been fighting demons my whole life, my whole life,' he said in 2019. 'Depression doesn't leave you when you become famous, it just adds more pressure,' Silentó said then, urging others to get help. 'And while everybody's looking at you, they're also judging you.' 'I don't know if I can truly be happy, I don't know if these demons will ever go away.' Silentó had been struggling in the months before the arrest. His publicist, Chanel Hudson, has said he had tried to kill himself in 2020. 3 Rapper Silento poses for a portrait in New York, July 21, 2015. Drew Gurian/Invision/AP In August 2020, Silentó was arrested in Santa Ana, California, on a domestic violence charge. The next day, the Los Angeles Police Department charged him with assault with a deadly weapon after witnesses said he entered a home where he didn't know anyone looking for his girlfriend and swung a hatchet at two people before he was disarmed. In October 2020, Silentó was arrested after police said they clocked him driving 143 miles per hour (230 kilometers per hour) on Interstate 85 in DeKalb County. Hudson said at the time of Silentó's arrest in the killing of Rooks that he had been 'suffering immensely from a series of mental health illnesses.'

Viral Ice Bucket Challenge Makes A Comeback, This Time For Mental Health
San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy is seen taking the viral ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in August ... More 2014. The challenge is back for a new cause. More than a decade after the Ice Bucket Challenge flooded social media with footage of people getting drenched in freezing water for a good cause, the viral craze is back — this time to raise awareness and funds for mental health. The original Ice Bucket Challenge made a huge splash in 2024, as everyday people, celebrities, famous athletes, tech CEOs and politicians got tubs of ice water dumped on their heads to increase awareness of the progressive neurodegenerative disease ALS, and raise funds to battle it. The campaign was a staggering success, raising $115 million in donations in just six weeks, and some $220 million overall. The 2025 version originated with students from the University of South Carolina's MIND (Mental Illness Needs Discussion) club, which is dedicated to destigmatizing mental health issues, providing peer support for those who live with it and advocating for suicide prevention. The MIND students call their version of the craze the Speak Your Mind Ice Bucket Challenge, with proceeds supporting Active Minds, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that empowers youth and young adults to support their peers struggling with their mental health and transform the way mental health conditions are viewed and addressed. So far, the Speak Your Mind effort has raised more than $190,000 for the organization, whose founder, Alison Malmon, lost her brother to suicide 25 years ago. The tally is increasing by the hour. The Speak Your Mind Ice Bucket Challenge follows the same simple format as the original. Participants dump ice water on their heads on camera (or have someone else do the dumping), post the video online and make a donation research. Then they nominate two to five others to follow suit within 24 hours. Participants always know what's coming, but when the ice water hits them, the shock is undeniable — and often amusing. Ten years ago, during the Ice Bucket Challenge's first round, the public especially enjoyed watching high-profile figures like Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, LeBron James and George Takei shiver, scream or laugh their way through the chill. Their willingness to look silly for a cause helped the challenge go viral, and made it feel fun, communal and urgent all at once. Last year, on the 10th anniversary of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the ALS Association released a report on its impact, saying money raised by the peer-to-peer fundraising effort enabled key research findings, including the identification of several new genes associated with ALS risk. MIND kicked off its Ice Bucket Challenge with a video posted to Instagram on March 31. 'We believe conversations about mental health should be just as common just as comfortable as conversations about physical health,' Wade Jefferson, the club's founder, says in the video. High-profile participants in the Speak Your Mind Ice Bucket Challenge so far include former NFL players Peyton Manning and Today Show co-hosts Jenna Bush Hager, Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly.
