After a solid first week and a slightly muted second Friday, 'F1' found its rhythm again on Saturday. The film added an estimated Rs 5.75 crore on Day 9, bringing its total India net collection to Rs 44.5 crore across all languages, according to the Sacnilk website.
Strong turnout in evening and night shows
Saturday's growth came largely thanks to strong occupancy in the English 2D version. The film recorded an impressive overall occupancy of 57.42% across India. Morning shows were relatively modest at just under 30%, but afternoon screenings jumped to nearly 59%, followed by packed evening (69%) and night shows (71.88%).

On track for a strong second weekend
If Sunday continues this upward trend, the film could comfortably cross Rs 50 crore by early next week — a strong showing for a Hollywood sports drama in India.
While weekday numbers held steady around Rs 3.5 crore, this Saturday bump proves that F1 still has fuel in the tank. And with no major competition in its genre, the film might just keep cruising through the coming week.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, 'F1' stars Brad Pitt in the lead. The movie has an impressive supporting cast that includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Damson Idris, and Tobias Menzies.
Our verdict
ETimes rated the film with 3.5 stars and our review reads, "Brad Pitt nails the role of a driver with laid-back arrogance, shining in every scene—whether he's strutting in with retro swagger or brushing off the media with monosyllabic replies. Don't miss the finale, where it's just him in the cockpit, the world around him fading into silence—what he calls 'flying.' Damson Idris is equally compelling as the new-age driver, skillfully balancing raw talent with the modern demands of social media and public presence.
Kerry Condon as Kate McKenna stands her ground as the APXGP technical director who's trying to prove her mettle in the male bastion. Javier Bardem, as the flamboyant and desperate team owner, injects the narrative with charm."

It's the most muddled top three in my lifetime: Stuart Broad on Australia's batting

The Ashes is still five months away, but Stuart Broad has already started firing bullets with the former English seamer raising concerns about Australia's top-order. Broad, who retired with 604 Test wickets and had some memorable battles with Australia, has described their current batting line-up as the most muddled he has seen in his lifetime. Australia, which is currently playing a three-match Test series in West Indies, has already won the Frank Worrell Trophy with a match to go. But right through the two Tests which they have won, their batting was found wanting with the Windies quicks troubling them in particular with the new ball. In the 40 Ashes Test that Broad featured in, he mostly bowled to a formidable top three which ranged from Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Ricky Ponting to David Warner, Shane Watson and Steve Smith. But currently Australia's top three is made of 38-year-old Usman Khawaja, the teenage Sam Konstas and Cameron Green who is averaging 16.66 in six innings at No 3. 'I'm not out of place in thinking it's the most muddled top three in my lifetime. I've grown up with Hayden, Langer and Ponting,' Broad said on The Grade Cricketer. 'But I think Usman is struggling. Cameron Green at three… he's a six, isn't he? Or a five. Anyone who used to take off stump guard would really excite me as an opening bowler because they play at fifth stump and don't know where their off stump is,' Broad added. Marnus Labuschagne, who was holding the No 3 position, was dropped after the World Test Championship final. With Green yet to cement his spot at the position, Broad reckoned Labushagne should take the spot by the time Ashes begins. 'Ultimately with Labuschagne, I know he's struggled for a couple of years, but he's a good player. So I'd be surprised if he doesn't come back into the frame at some stage. Konstas is young and learning his way, those pitches in the Caribbean have been quite tricky so I imagine he'll get a run (in the Ashes). 'I watched him net before the World Test Championship at Lord's and even though he didn't play, the crunch off the bat that you hear (was impressive), but he's got a couple of low scores and you start to question yourself a little bit. But I think he (Konstas) is there to stay,' Broad added.

Maalik Box Office Preview: Rajkummar Rao starrer run time, screen count, advance booking & opening day

After doing a series of comedy films, Rajkummar Rao is venturing into the action genre with the Pulkit directed Maalik. The film features him as a gangster and is slated to hit the big screen on July 11, 2025. Maalik has been certified A – Adults Only by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved run time of 2 hours and 32 minutes. The film is seeing an All-India release by Pen Marudhar, and the distributor is going wide for the Rajkummar Rao starrer, with a release planned on about 1500 screens. The advance bookings for Maalik opened on Wednesday noon, and the response has been lukewarm. As on Thursday at 5.30 PM, Maalik has sold about 4000 tickets in the top 3 national chains – PVRInox and Cinepolis – and is headed for a finish in the range of 10,000 tickets. Given the advance bookings, Maalik is looking to open in the range of Rs 2.75 crore to Rs 3.25 crore, though the film could push itself to a slightly higher number if the mass belts come on board in spot bookings. Due to the genre, the Rajkummar Rao starrer does have a shot to record better walk-ups and hit the Rs 3.50 crore mark on Friday. If the reports from morning shows are not encouraging, the first day could be lower than the projected range too. The film is facing competition from Superman, as also holdover films like Metro In Dino, Jurassic World: Rebirth, and F1. However, the genre and target audience is completely different, giving it a shot at getting an audience on board if the audience talk lands in its favour. A low start is likely for Maalik, and it's about how close it can get to the Rs 4 crore mark on Friday, laying a platform for better performance on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately for Maalik, action films are usually frontloaded and hence, there's a lot for the film to make up for in the opening weekend, as the fate is now heavily dependent on the word of mouth. Writer Joycee on Mazha Thorum Munpe: If you're after flashy sarees or trendy earrings of the heroine, this isn't the show for you; it's a slice-of-life story

Malayalam TV writer Joycee, known for his popular series, returns with 'Mazha Thorum Munpe,' an adaptation of his beloved novel. He initially hesitated to adapt the novel, but actress Nikitha Rajesh, who he introduced as a child artist, convinced him. Adding a personal touch, Joycee's grandchild, Abigael, joins the cast. The favourite writer of Malayalam TV is back in the industry after a brief hiatus. Joycee, the one who glued the Malayali audience to the TV screens with his heart-touching stories like Omanathinkal Pakshi and Manjurukum Kaalam, is back with yet another tale, 'Mazha Thorum Munpe'. In a candid chat with ETimes, the writer shared his hopes about the serial adaptation of his all time favourite novel. 'Mazha Thorum Munpe is one of my all-time favourite works, the one I truly enjoyed writing the most. The novel, which began in 2006, continued until 2011, spanning 242 issues in a leading weekly at the time. It was a story so close to readers' hearts that many urged me not to adapt it into a serial, fearing the essence might be lost in the process. Over the years, several people approached me about turning it into a show, but I was hesitant to give the nod. My biggest concern was that, back then, I couldn't find anyone in the industry who could truly embody Alina, the central character. But now, I feel everything has finally fallen into place, and here we are,' he said. Undoubtedly, it was one actress, Nikitha Rajesh, who convinced Joycee to finally say yes to the project. And who can blame him? Now a versatile presence in both Tamil and Malayalam television, Nikitha was once the adorable child artist Joycee himself introduced to the industry. Yes, she was none other than the beloved Anna Mol from Omanathinkal Pakshi. 'Nikitha was just 4 years old when she joined Omanathinkal Pakshi, then she played a role in Manjurukum Kaalam at 14. Now, at 24, she's my Alina. It feels like she's been growing up as my characters, decade after decade. She's truly one of the finest actresses I've come across; she instinctively understands the precise meter of every emotion and how to deliver it on camera. I'm hopeful she will win your hearts as Alina,' Joycee said. It's not just Nikitha who's making this project special for Joycee, there's another young artist adding a deeply personal touch to the show. His own grandchild, Abigael, is joining the cast as Chinnu Kutty, making Mazha Thorum Munpe even more close to the writer's heart. 'It's a blessing to witness this in my lifetime. It's incredible to think that when I first wrote the character, she wasn't even born. And now, to see my own grandchild portraying one of my favourite characters, it's truly a special feeling. She follows the director's instructions to the letter and doesn't like repeating actions,' he added with a smile. Commenting on the current trend in Malayalam television, where adaptations of shows from other languages dominate the scene, Joycee proudly notes that his work stands apart. He describes Mazha Thorum Munpe as a slice-of-life story that any Malayali can easily relate to. 'Though the story was written 15 years ago, its relevance feels even more fitting today. Yes, I've made a few changes to suit the current audience, but I've been very careful not to add any gimmicks. If you're watching just to see what flashy saree the heroine is wearing or to check out the antagonist's earrings, sorry, you might have to switch the channel. This is a story about ordinary people, told with realism, focusing on their struggles and survival. I'm confident it won't disappoint the story lover in you,' the writer concluded.
